This is the full recording of Flight 64, a solo venture I pursued for the last couple of months. The weather and, most importantly, issues with some fundamental skill deficiencies had held me back-until today.
With the cockpit to myself, I could internalize the training and focus on maintaining a calm and controlled flight. My plan was to simply enjoy the flight-nothing fancy. To do that, I would focus on flying the airplane and keeping a keen eye on the environment, which included monitoring the ever-changing cloud coverage and maintaining communication with the ground and other aircraft.
Just as necessary, I would keep track of my position in the training area to always know where the aerodrome was. Getting lost isn't fun!
This flight was about practicing maneuvers and managing the aircraft in real time, adjusting to shifting winds, and navigating with limited visibility. Regarding the weather, the main two challenges were the low cloud base and the crosswind on the runway. I kept my altitude between 1700 and 1800 feet to keep the flight VFR. The crosswind was challenging during my landings (I did three), but they were satisfactory.
