big fan of devil daggers. fun fact, devil daggers came out of nowhere in 2016 and a ton of people who were waiting for Doom 2016 jumped on Devil Daggers for months before Doom came out because they wanted to kill demons earlier. It became a bit of a meme in the more obscure gaming circles (as in the dev iamqqqqqqq is top shelf kino obscure please play their stuff if you have the time) and it elevated to an absurd level when Doom Eternal came out. To the point where the meme "I guess we'll play Doom Eternal until Devil Daggers 2 comes out" was a thing. cue sept 19th 2022 and understandably everyone lost their shit. I am glad you explained this out as yea.... its a tough game to explain to someone. I think you are the only one that actually does the game justice in expressing the reasons why this game is a masterwork in design.

The flaws of the game only really start showing when you pass the 350 score treshold, and most players will never even get close to it. You did a great job at explaining the game mechanics, and you actually bothered to get DEICIDE for the review, which is something that almost none of the reviewers ever do. You clearly put the time into this game, and it shows both in the review and the gameplay you used!
The jump in quality from devil daggers (which is still an incredibly good game) is stunning. Like I see the core of DD all over this game but they have taken the entire concept into such a dramatically different level, incredibly impressive, hope to have to funds to buy it at some point.
Ayo it's devil daggers 2 I've met the art director a few times while he was working on this and he was talking about how interesting it was that fps' haven't worked out good method for seperating the peripheral vision from the centre of vision and their different roles and abilities and how the team came up an ingenious solution to that. I'm gonna play this game when I have the chance.

Really cool to see someone learned so much about the game mechanics before posting a review and even getting a deicide 5:40 note on what you said about gemdashes here, its actually not exactly which direction you're looking but its what direction you are inputting relative to the direction you are looking, so you could dash into a spawner crystal and look down while holding S instead of W and you will still go upwards, this can result in some strange, stylish shit My best score is around 370 and ive been playing on and off for like 6 months now and its been so cool seeing new tech develop, top players will post a clip and be like "what if i can do this, maybe its a bit more optimal" then like 10 minutes later they just fucking do it since all the tech are natural evolutions of the basic mechanics the game feeds you Even i have done some cool slightly unique shit and im at best a low high level player this game is so cool
I always forget that your a smaller youtuber, genuinely for the last two odd-years ive been watching yours vids alongside other utubers who u can consider large, and I never noticed a difference in quality or anything that would make you stand out, yeh sure the 'production' style is different with the ol' greenscreen in stores, but thats part of the charm and style which I digg, differentiates from majority game analysis which have no irl video interaction. You did an mazing job of describing this job not only in a very comprehensive and in my experience easy to follow way. But also in a way that I feel probably got across the feel of learning it on your own through playing game like, like how the developers intended you to.

long comment but I find this game's visuals interesting and thanks to this video I'm gonna buy it a lot of it is trippy psychedelic but I would argue the game is similar to anticholinergics and DTs from alcohol and other GABAergic substances anticholinergics expand the pupil HUGELY. more than other stuff, because acetylcholine makes pupil smaller and there is A LOT of acetylcholin ereceptors in the eye (both Nicotinic and muscarinic agonist make pupil smaller, like Nicotine without tolerance) and someone who's not me did anticholinergics and can confirm it basically makes your FOV bigger . you can see most of the room you're sitting in and it constantly wraps and changes it's much more than psychedelics, the hallucinations are tho real people and shadowy stuff, pure machr blockers like scopoalamine shouldn't cause nightmare fuel, it's more just confusing and it reduces Adrenaline and relaxes muscles and is relaxing / euphoric and dts is similar to this game because it's utterly nightmare fuel, more than Scopolamine by a long shot the hallucinations of dts are very "immersive " and trance state lik3, its not cone. I know someone who drank a lot and did beso who had bugs crawling and saw demonic shit, he has tried acopolamine and it doesn't compare to the pure terror dts . glutamate is involved in lots of the psychedelic visuals (the "simple" visuals) because 5ht2a release lots of glutamate dts is pure glutamate, and alcohol is even worse than benso because of nmda upregulation TLDR this game is like a acid nightmare but also more akin to anticholinergics and dts

Hyper Demon and Devil Daggers are both such a breath of fresh air in the gaming sphere. "High gameplay density" is one way to categorize them, unlike modern games that often have low gameplay density with alot of filler and downtime. I wish some of the bigger gaming developers had some balls and made new innovative and creative games. Not just re-releasing previous gaming ideas with shiny new graphics and predatory monetization tactics like lootboxes, micro transactions etc sigh....

Post void is decent. I played it for a few hours and it didn't hook me, the art style becomes really grating after awhile. But it's pretty fun, headshots feel great, I love the roguelite element and time restraint.

Kind of reminds me of N2O from way back on the PS1. That game focused more on the music than the raw sound design, but it was extremely stimulating when I was a kid to just barrel down those tunnels killing bugs to a thumping soundtrack while these psychedelic elements blended into the experience. We need more niche designs where the focus is on engaging gameplay loops and brushed down styles. That red hologram of enemies is a pretty great idea. This seems cool as hell.
