    I love this! So my question is the wafer paper in the skillet. Is there measurements like how much water paper to water? Also can you put this cake in the fridge and will the water paper be ok afterwards for it to come to room temp?

    This is beautiful. How long does the wafer paper last on the buttercream. I added some wafer paper to meringue (swiss meringue not buttercream) and the wafer paper for very droopy and almost melting and falling apart. Not sure what I did wrong. Thank you for your advise

    I noticed when you were smoothing the butter cream you were spraying it.... what were you spraying it with and why?

      I spray with water to help smooth the buttercream. You can also dip a metal scraper in hot water, but I find this is just easier.

      I use acrylic for video purposes since I can reuse them and they are a neutral base, but at work for orders we use cake drums.

      Kind of?? If you keep it in a dry fridge until maybe an hour before serving it should be fine. Condensation could melt it some.

    Beautiful as always! Did you refrigerate this cake after it was done? How would the wafer paper design hold up if refrigerated?

      You can uf you have a dry fridge. Condensation can cause it to melt some. So if you do refrigerate, I would not take it out until at most an hour before serving.

    Hi Mary! Very Elegant!! ?-when you put on the black buttercream it looked more gray but as your video went on it looks dark black, is that just from sitting in fridge?

      Yes when the color oxidizes, it does get darker. That is also good to keep in mind when you are adding your deep colors, so maybe you don't add more then you need as it can affect the taste a bit.

      No I just make these for tutorials. So yes, do use buttercream if you are moving them. Good point!

    Is it fine to put the cake back in the fridge after decorating with wafer paper since you say wafer paper melts if it’s too wet? As cakes can sweat and have condensation at times.

      I would as long as the fridge is not a humid one. But leave it in until maybe an hour before serving. I can't promise it will be ok since every environment is different. In the heat of the summer it is a bigger issue. If you coat the back of the wafer paper with cocoa butter it does create a better seal between the 2.
