    Really like your videos and the sugar flowers posted. Would you do a video on the studio such as how to set it up, cost of rent and equipment, staff to keep the place running.

    Absolutely stunning!! I will definitely be trying! Just wanted to confirm that I didn’t have to steam the water paper first?

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have to becasue my paper was fresh. If yours is brittle you may need to steam it a tiny bit.

    What weight paper did you use?

    Can I use this technique for my baby shower cake? I will probably paint the wafer paper baby blue, silver and white colors to match with my butter cream frosting and fondant. Thank you

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, absolutely! You can add the colour to the vodka/water mixture if you'd like, or you can try painting it on afterwards (which might be a bit trickier).

    Thank you so much for the tutorial, does it mean there's no need to steam the wafer papers before pleasing? Kindly reply. Thank you.

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to steam if your wafer paper is fresh. If you need to hydrate it put a damp paper towel inside a small ziptop bag that's been left open. Then put the bag with your wafer paper inside a large ziptop bag or sealed plastic container.

    My qn; How do I colour the pleats please?

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'd recommend colouring the full sheet before cutting and shaping, you can use an airbrush machine, edible printer, or brush it using vodka and gel paste colouring. Just be careful not to over-saturate the paper :)

    Loving this, can I substitute the wafer paper with rice paper?

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they're the same thing or very similar, shouldn't be a problem!

    Love this!!! Thank you for sharing! What’s your wafer paper glue made from?😀

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's wafer paper and water microwaved together to form a paste :)

    Can we add this technique in whipped cream cakes ??

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think whipped cream has too much moisture it will melt the wafer paper :( I'd only recommend on buttercream or fondant

    • @FinespunCakes

    Are there different types of wafer papers? Mine only bends nicely on one side!!!The other side always tears :(

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are different thicknesses! You can always gently steam the paper to soften it up just a little bit.

    What kind of wafer paper is this? Mine cannot be folded just like that. It will be broken for sure.

  • @muchambrosia
    @muchambrosia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question that might be silly, my wafer paper breaks when I try to fold it. Is this a special kind or did you conditioned somehow to be able to fold it?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Not silly at all. Wafer paper dries out in drier climates/rooms. Put the wafer paper in a large zip top bag or plastic container. Place a piece of damp paper towel inside a small ziptop bag and leave it open then place that smaller bag in the larger bag/box. Seal the larger bag and leave it for a couple of days to re-hydrate.

    What kind of wafer paper do you use? Mine cracks and tears whenever I try to fold them

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Link in the description box for the brand I use. If your wafer paper isn't as fresh or is dehydrated it's possible for it to crack. Look on Instagram @astashkinacakes she has an IGTV video on keeping your wafer paper fresh!

    Does it works on whipped cream frosted cakes or the wafer paper will just melts to its moisture?

    • @FinespunCakes

      I think it will melt quickly! Recommend for fondant or buttercream :)
