This video features images of Hastings Pier produced from old cine footage. It is difficult to put an exact date to the images but believed to be mid to late 60s.
Hi there, we've been enjoying watching this. We film 4k natural sight and sound walks in soulful cities and have just added Hastings, so it's very interesting to see the contrast, thank you for taking the time to add it. It's good to share.
It's so nice to see the pier in its heyday, lovely to see it with all the lights illuminated, nowadays it's a shadow of its former self, I heard that the owner who purchased it after the fire destroyed it has now sold it , he also owns Eastbourne pier too, and yesterday I was on Brighton pier and realised that Hastings pier has no arcades or shops and unfortunately will die a death . There just isn't and won't be the public footfall to keep it financially viable. Its a shame . -bud the painter-
Used to love the penny arcade and the "what the butler saw" drop card machine where you crank the handle for moving picture. Saucy!! lol EDIT: Just found out their name - Mutoscope.

Thanks for the memory of a time that will never come again and one that I was lucky enough to grow up in.
Hastings will always be home for me. Brought up in Hastings from 1979 - 2001.
Born in 1946. Never moved from Hastings. Loved the pier.
Used to be a really bustling place. Thanks for posting.
came to Hastings in 1959 ,camping at Farelight Glenn , ended up living here in 2000 , after my friends moved here in 1969 . love it
