My little 4 month old love bird talks quite clearly. I'm blessed. I do spend a lot of time talking to her tho. I belive that is the key, after all they are part of the parrot family .
Sometimes when I’d be cleaning , and I’d have my bird in the cage, she would practice all her noises, funny gurgling sounds and such, and in between those noises I’d here her say “what the heck!” 😂😂 I didn’t realize she picked up on me saying that! I must say it often hahaha
As far as I know (I've read a few articles). They rarely talk, and their speech isn't as clear as other parrot types. I don't think mine would ever do it, but a relative of mine has one that copies sounds very fast, so it might talk (we don't know the sex of the birds). I'm probably at fault here though coz I whistle a lot for our lovebird😅. Maybe I should talk more. At any rate I would imagine it takes more effort to teach a species that isn't known for talking than other species. Even other species that are known to be good talker don't always do so. We had 3 Indian ring necks when I was younger, none of them talked
My lovies mostly mimic sounds... and do a good job at it. I thought that one was on her way to talking, but alas it never happened. They sneeze, make kissy noises, and say pretty bird in a mimicky squak.
My Yoshi, a love bird speaks clearly. He said’s. Pretty bird, peekaboo, what, yeah, thank you, kiss, step up and Journey. He learned some of his words from her. He goes crazy when I play her video.
My lovebird ( peaches) 15yrs old that passed away 7 months ago. Would mimic pretty bird and come here. The new lovebird ( hoggie)2 1/2 yrs old I bought 2 yrs before peaches died will occasionally say pretty bird, but it's not as clear sounding.
Honestly, I'm not sure if a certain gender mimics better, but Lovebirds aren't known for talking. Journey doesn't sing or dance :( She tries to sing but it always comes out as squawks! lol
Journey spends most of the day out of her cage...The video is 7 minutes long... don't know how you can tell she's in her cage too long. This video was taken when she was taking her daily nap, she was tired. She talks to help herself fall asleep, something she's always done. She is the happiest bird ever. I've had Journey long enough to know when she's not happy. :) thank you for the concern though.
I didn't think lovebirds were great were great talkers. I guess if I play this for my non talkers they'll start trying my macaw jas 0 words as well and he's the only 18 month I know with no words .
i know this is very unrelated to the video but plastic beads and unnatural frayed materials such as polyester and such are terrible toys for birds. they could ingest both, which would be terrible. the best toys for them would be natural (like wood) toys that they can destroy and chew through
agreed, i have done my fair share of research on toys, and not what to get. Journey is just super attached to this toy, i have taken them away before and she was absolutely depressed.
Little baby is saying "step up" so precious!!!!!!!!!
She's adorable!! That's my typo 😭😭 copy paste...
Thats the best talking lovebird I've ever heard!
❤️❤️

I had done this trick to make my love bird talk is by putting any random video on love birds talking and see how they react
that's adorable!!

This bird is saying STEP UP NOT set up. I’m a breeder and I use to tell mine that constantly. They would repeat.
