    An excellent recovery guys. Clever rigging too. My father taught me how to do this type of recovery back in 1978 when l first started to learn all about 4 wheel driving and winching techniques, he learned this technique in the Army, during the Second World War. ( WWll )
    I have just subscribed to your channel, as l like to watch how others do recoveries. I had a tow truck and recovery business some years ago and l’m now retired, although you are never too old to learn more.

  • @brucebaxter6923
    @brucebaxter6923 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not there so I have no idea.
    But with the drone video making it look easy ,,,,,,
    Could the skid steer have made it up to the top to pull sideways where your hand winch is?
    Also, do you carry a land anchor or at least a rear axle to use as a giant tent peg for times when there are no rocks or trees.

    • @rhinooffroadrecovery
      @rhinooffroadrecovery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, videos always make it look way easier than it really is. The trail was very narrow at the recovery point and there was not enough room for the skid steer to pull it sideways.
      And yes, we do carry land anchors. The last time we used a land anchor, it stayed there permanently lol, we could not pull it out again haha

    "Triton" man- NEVER, ever stand between or at either end of a cable under load- ever. Especially when a drop hitch and non-kinetic ropes are being used *R.I.P. Ryan Woods, AZ.* It's a quick way to get cut in half. Most hitches are not rated for snatching a stuck vehicle. You need professional level gear connected to the right areas.
    IMO, these are not pro's- if for no other reason than not controlling the recovery environment. That is like a pilot letting random people walk around his/her propeller. There are no go zones They violated this basic principle. While I appreciate redundancy of multiple lines, ropes, etc., it is less necessary when you are using the correct gear. It's only as safe as your weakest piece of gear.
    Too much laughing and clowning around. Recovery is a deadly serious and dangerous thing. You should focus more on safety and technique IMHO. I don't think you will. I think you will bash my comment and one day have a bad incident. I hope you don't but I don't think you are acting in a mature manner. You violated several safety protocols. You got it out but it's really not a joke and you should worry less about having fun, and having people walk around the lines with camera, and be more focused on safety.

You pulled the main winch on the passenger front corner in combination with the sloap of the mountain actually made the truck(and Jeep later) back wheel slide off the trail. The main winch should be on the driver side, and won't make the back slide over the edge. But you still did it so better luck next time.
