Life for most people had its problems and struggles of course, but so does life anywhere. It's important to remember that many had worthwhile and meaningful lives there. My guy was born there and he had a happy childhood and teen years in the East. Some people hated it and wanted to leave, others either accepted it or liked it.
Listening to the Mutter album is like listening to a symphony concert. The songs are just "orchestereted". I highly recommend the songs "Daila Lama" and "Spieluhr". Most underrated songs from Rammstein.
