Mutter is the title track from the album 'Mutter' it's probably my favourite Rammstein album. The only time I saw Rammstein was on the Mutter tour where there was some fire, but nowhere near the live shows they put out today.
Hey yall, the song was both inspired by the story of dolly the sheep (who was cloned in the 90s) and the poor relationship guitarist richard has with his own mother. So you were almost bang on with the test tube baby theory. A fantastic song, the crying guitar in the solo gets me every time
[Verse 1] The tears of a crowd of very old children I string them on a white hair I throw the wet chain into the air And wish that I had a mother No sun shines for me There was no breast that cried milk There is a tube that sticks in my throat I have no navel on my stomach [Refrain] Mother, mother Mother, mother [Verse 2] I was not allowed to lick any nipples And there was no fold to hide in No one gave me a name Fathered in haste and without sperm For the mother who never gave birth to me I have sworn tonight I will send her a sickness And afterwards make her sink in the river [Refrain] Mother, mother Mother, mother Mother, mother Mother, mother See upcoming rock shows Get tickets for your favorite artists You might also like Rammstein - Sonne (English Translation) Genius English Translations Mutter Rammstein Houdini Eminem [Chorus] An eel lives in her lungs On my forehead, a birthmark Remove it with the kiss of a knife Even if it causes me to die [Refrain] Mother, mother Mother, mother [Chorus] An eel lives in her lungs On my forehead, a birthmark Remove it with the kiss of a knife Even if it causes me to bleed to death [Outro] Oh give me strength Mother, mother Oh give me strength Mother, mother Oh give me strength Mother, mother Oh give me strength
Gosh! That one is such an amazing performance. You can tell how much Till was into the song. I was actually surprised to see another Rammstein reaction but an awesome surprise for sure! I have to ask since it's so close to my birthday (26th) could you and Smokey react to the Rammstein performance of Buck Dich (Live Aus Berlin) with the English Subtitles. I KNOW I'll get a kick out of it 😂 If you can, of course. I know how much y'all the keyboard and he does an interesting performance in it. 😅 Loved your reaction and discussions as always. It's always so much fun to hear your thoughts. ❤
This, gentlemen, this is what music is, the ability to convey a story that anyone can enjoy AND, do it across language barriers. Please, please, grab some drinks and munchies and listen to the entire Mutter album in order as it's a proper banging album. You won't regret it and keep up the good work in bringing music to the masses with the passion that you have.
Omg I love Rammstein. I remember the first time I heard them, 22 years ago. Driving late on a freezing cold night, out in the middle of nowhere. My then boyfriend pulled out a cd and put it on. Instant goose bumps. Have loved them ever since. I kept the cd!
I like learning about the history of cycling. If I had a time machine, I would go back in time, and I would bring back the inventor of the bicycle to today's world so that he could see how far his invention went in the future of cycling.
The child-like call of "Mutter" building to the final rage filled howl of "Mutter!" gets me every time. It's such a sad song, but performed with so much passion and emotion. Also, I love seeing another person fall in love with this band. We are truly blessed to have Rammstein because there is nothing else like them, which I believe the Universe conspired to create this band. How else do you explain a German band being so damn loved by so many non-German speaking countries?
I will end the pronunciation debate right here. The fact that it is a debate shows too many have never heard their debut album. On that album is a song titled Rammstein and the word is sung in the song as RAM-STINE, not RAM-STEEN. End of debate.
Tiny addendum: RAMM is pronounced like rum, as in Bacardi rum, for example (but with a rolling R). And STEIN is pronounced like it's spelt with an SH at the beginning. So it's Rum-shtine 😁
@@Craplatte It is absolutely not Rum-shtine. Literally every song that the band says its name in, has them pronouncing it with a very clear ''ah'' sound. In English it's phonetically Rahm-shtine.
You have to check out Seemann from some of the earlier live recordings. Live Aus Berlin, their first live dvd, is excellent, Itrs old and shows where the band were back then compared to where they are now.. plus its a stadium show... I first saw Rammstein on the rosenrot tour and they used the pyro from live aus berlin in Brixton academy.. it was mental in a mid sized venue.
Nice video guys, when i may help you, a german word with ie is spoken like your e, and when its written ei, then you say it like your i. Thats it. I also had to learn this here on yt from a german girl that lived in the us.
Answer : Europeans ALWAYS try to pronounce Foreign Words like the NATIVES pronounce it.Its a gesture of RESPECT!Never experienced this with Americans.Anyway,MUTTER is a NOT VERY frendly Hymn to Mothers.Translation below.....
Hello there. When the song was released, there was a lot of excitement about artificial insemination (Dolly the sheep). And for a long time I thought it was about how a child feels. Now I think it's also about the special and often complicated relationship between mother and son. Or the non-existent relationship/connection between the two. Cutting the cord and coming to terms with difficult times. With love from Germany ❤🤘🏻
If you need more information about them I recommend "Who are Rammstein? East German roots and early controversy" here on youtube from "DW History & Culture"
It's a metaphor for children of unwanted pregnancies conceived during short affairs, who have been neglected by their mothers who didn't love them, I think.
This takes me back! To 2001. But my guy, you never seem to give the musicians their due respect...only the vocalists, but makes sense yall being vocalist/ rappers. But if you look at Cradle of Filth, Dani is not the whole band 😅 despite him being an original member
The studio version is so much better to listen to first time, the live version sort of takes away from the beauty of song, though the live version has its beauty that hits differently.
people can say "ramsteen" all they want, but they are damn wrong, listen to the self-titled track on the self-titled album and this nonsense can be put to rest once and for all.
Till had a very hard childhood, from what I hear. His relationship with his father was abusive, and at one point, as a teen, he ran away and lived in a tent in the woods rather than staying with him. I think he pours a lot of that unresolved trauma into the writing of his lyrics, and it shines through in the songs they become.
I was recently on a Lufthansa flight to Sweden and I asked the German stewardess how to correctly pronounce this band and she replied with a rolling R, Raum-Stine

Saw them for the first time live a couple of weeks ago it was crazy. You cannot tell the difference between a live video and between live in concert
Such a beautiful riff!!!🔥
[Verse 1]
The tears of a crowd of very old children
I string them on a white hair
I throw the wet chain into the air
And wish that I had a mother
No sun shines for me
There was no breast that cried milk
There is a tube that sticks in my throat
I have no navel on my stomach
[Refrain]
Mother, mother
Mother, mother
[Verse 2]
I was not allowed to lick any nipples
And there was no fold to hide in
No one gave me a name
Fathered in haste and without sperm
For the mother who never gave birth to me
I have sworn tonight
I will send her a sickness
And afterwards make her sink in the river
[Refrain]
Mother, mother
Mother, mother

I'm glad you did the live Paris version. It's the best version. Better than the studio version imo.
I absolutely agree, Richard making them strings sing in the live version is so much better

A very special song by Rammstein, for me!
Its not about the music, its about the emotions. And the live show.........no one compares. They are the best
Awesome reaction guys thanks 🙏
Do you say Albert Einsteen ? No .. is STEIN! 😝
Loved the reaction again 😉
I have been listening to Rammstein since the late 90's, and this is still to this day, my favorite song of theirs. 2nd fave is Sonne.

The educatedmarine and the Bucksttabu channel has videos with English subtitles of Rammstein. Subtitles for Rammstein songs are very important.

Y'all gotta do the song Rammstein, that will settle the debate

Well excuse the fuck out of us, you must be superior
Stein rhymes with 9.
Listen to their song (or watch the live) "ramm 4" and you will hear them actually say their name and will know this is correct:)
Richard wrote the music as a wedding song.
It's pronounced the same way as Frankenstein. Not the same way Dr Frankenstein initially pronounced his name in Young Frankenstein though lol
Or Einstein....
Intense
@10:55 what we all came here for :)
17:48 And you used Smokey's pronunciation yet again! 😆
Also gotta get to Seemann, Du Riechst So Gut, and one of my favorites, Te Quiero Puta
In fact it's a song about Richard Kruspe's childhood in a way.
Listen to: Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?!
Here you hear the Name multiple Times!
The first song on the first CD. You just have to listen to it.

Dolly was cloned. And it can be about that , too.
@hrma6313 possible. This is also one of their songs that is open to interpretation. I find that wonderful and interesting.
You did not understood the German Metaphors in the Lyrics.....definatly not RÄÄÄÄMSTEEEEEN !
You need subtitles for that.....there are lots of videos with subs....a little effort pays off :)

This is MUCH better. Mushroomhead 2.0 can wait.

Mutter = mother. My Austrian buddy and his sister used to call their mother "mutti", equivalent to mommy, I guess.
Heavy frickin' band.

That's correct, yes. Mutti means mommy.

In German, Mutter means Mother.
Yeah. Everybody with common sense knows that. Except americans. They usually know less about everything.

Germans pronounce the second vowel when two are together. Therefore it’s pronounced stine.
