An eiderdown is a cross between a heavy blanket and a duvet. It''s feather-filled usually with duck or goose down. My grandparents had some. The studio album version of the song is chilling, absolutely harrowing. the way that Till sings the chorus leaves you in no doubt as to how much the child has been mentally damaged by what he's seen. Sent chills down my spine when I first heard it.
I apologize for being nitpicky, but an eiderdown duvet is filled with down from the eider duck (so not Just any duck or goose feathers). The down is very labor intensive to source and clean which also makes the duvets very expensive. They are definetily like a cross between a heavy blanket and duvet though, as the down makes it really light and warm (thoguh it cools you down during the summer, so you avoid overheating).

I just discoverd your channel and already watched about 5 or 6 of your reactions in a row.. very good content.. You really spend some time not just listening the song but trying to understand and interpretate the meaning of the lyrics with no rush.. thats rare on YT... keep on the good work men! We would stay hours debating our interpretations hahah..
I always interpreted the doll as being the substitute. For his sister who took care of him at first, and being angry with her for locking him in, while she got up to the things he did not want her to do. It did not make him feel good being mad at his sister while she took care of him, because she did take care of him. Then the sister gets killed, and he snaps, and gets out, and kills the people who took out his only caregiver. It makes him feels good to let out the anger, even happy about killing them so he can finally be true to his feelings.
I thought I was the only one who thought the second time the doll is named it's not actually the doll but the person/people who murdered the protagonist's sister. For me it didn't make sense for them to destroy the doll for a second time and have opposite sensations about it. For me it was: the protagonist actually destroying the doll and still feeling bad, but then they get to chop their sister's killer head off and then they felt that relief out of revenge, so they now actually feel good about it.

This is dark! When I heard the song for the first time from the new album, I got goosebumps when Till started screaming. This change of mood doesn't come across so well in concert performance.

For example Handpuppe is a hand puppet (not hand doll); an puppet state translates as Marionettenstaat (Puppenstaat would be totally wrong).
