    I wouldn’t trust that turbidity tube thing as obviously a sample from the top of a rad will be vastly different to one from the bottom as iron doesn’t float 😂

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The magnetite would be in suspension in the water so it makes no difference taking the sample from the top or the bottom of the radiator

    • @julianwebb8712
      @julianwebb8712 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomkatgastraining Can’t agree with that……if magnetite were held in suspension it wouldn’t block systems making Powerflusing necessary. It would leave the system during a regular drain down

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@julianwebb8712 if it wasn’t in suspension how dose the magnet in the filter collect the iron or is it just witchcraft?

    • @julianwebb8712
      @julianwebb8712 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomkatgastraining There is a difference between held in suspension and carried in the flow…..when the forced circulation stops the magnetite sinks, iron doesn’t float unless it’s Titanic shaped 😛

      But anyway, if it was always a sealed system then it was likely to be ok 👌

    I’ve fitted 2 this week but I knew what was coming. I like them to be honest. Can’t go wrong for £650 inc vat

    I fitted a lot of Glowworm and Vaillants, only fitted that boiler once and it put me off fitting another one, only a five year warranty on it as well, prefer the Worcester 1000 as a budget boiler to be honest.

    ...you have to remember that there can be flaws in a brand new boiler. Dont forget that in the factory where they are put together or assembled parts maybe faulty but they will still put it on. Like for example a diaphragm might have a very thin 'needle' borehole. . Depending on the material it may need replacing immediately or gradually get worse then becomes apparent. I n a Microsoft software they forgot to put the 'Print' command. I am referring to the bracket being in the way of the rubber flue ring seal after it has been cemented . I am thinking either the bracket needs to be cut away after it's positioning has been set so the ring will be flush with the wall or the ring goes behind the bracket. Any criticism welcome. .

    Hi I’m looking for some advice
    I’m working on static caravans,their is a natural gas meter that is NOT connected to the caravan it is on a stand about a foot away from the caravan,I have been looking and looking and cannot find the legislation that states on a static caravan if the meter is not connected to the caravan it has to be on a flexi hose and not hard piped? Could you please shed some light?

    the condensate and the PRV into the 40mm pipe are glow worm happy with that setup? As I know when I fit Ideals ect they recommend the use of a tundish for example the Hotun when combined condensate and prv into pp pipe. I have seen a few like this recently. I know the glow worm manual does say "The components must be set up in such a way that
    you can see the water flowing out."

    • @tomkatgastraining
      @tomkatgastraining  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s a fault put into the pipe work so trainees can find it on inspection you are totally correct it needs a tundish or the hotun when installed this way.

    Definitely give this one a miss, Alpha boilers the same with the different pipe work set up underneath, They also supply a cross over kit. Just a quick question, What does everyone use on dot & dab walls to seal the flue inside? I’ve used sand & cement but a year later when I go back to service it the sand & cement mix has usually come out 😳 I know some manufacturers like Ideal let you get away with just the internal seal so long as outside is done.

    Got to ask. The condense pipe can’t just sit in the black plastic pipe. I’ve been told in case the trap runs dry and products of combustion can leak into the room. Not me saying this Some. Mi say it.

    Vaillant said for years not to use any silicone lube on the flue seal because it damaged them. Would be interesting to know if they have changed what they are made from .The seals reacted and rippled to silicone. Have seen so many flues rotten through at an early age 👍

      Had so many vaillant seal fail it bonkers, even when they put in dry, the condensation acid make them distort and leak, have spoke to tec, his reply was we don’t make the flue🤣🤣🤣unbelievable

    We had a boiler in our council house for almost 35 years, they then decided it was a good idea to replace it with a glowworm boiler despite it not having a single problem. In less than 3 years this boiler has had more error codes and faults than the old one had in 35 years. Every winter it has 2-3 errors leaving us without heating for 2-3 days and during the year it will have a fault every 2-3 months almost guaranteed. If anyone ever asked for advise the only thing I would say is do NOT buy glowworm 😂

    It’s all about ranges!
    They deliberately do this. Why make a £400 boiler as good as a £1000 boiler.

      Thing is Derek, they're shooting themselves in the foot.. if the boiler's a pain to fit, the installer won't recommend it to the customer..!! Very short sighted... and that picture of you in pain under boiler is enough to put me off.... 😂

    another reason not to install glowworm or vaillant if you can help it. installed top of the range vaillant not long ago not impressed. plus you get the anal engineers on warranty callouts always blaming installers. how hard can it be to design a good boiler?are zee germans still sad they lost and still screwing us over? from plastic parts failing to pressure sensors designed to catch dirt. thats on bosch too. plastic hydrolic blocks failing on boilers where theres zero mention on expantion in the MI.
    tomcat dont get me started on alpha i see your an accredited installer. why put an lcd screen on the pcb knowing they put a shitty transformer on the same board.
