I want to thank you for this video. I was about to quit putting up my shelf today. This video helped me slow down and try again and now my shelf is up and ready for use. Thank you and God Bless you!!!
Note that even when properly positioned, the two halves of the shelf-pole collar('sleeve') do have a 1/8" gap, but the ends are snug against the pole (no crescent space). If there is a crescent gap, slide it up or down until it snaps snugly in place. This is done so that even after years of heavy loads, when the plastic sleeves have been squished a bit, the inside ridge will still grip the ring notch.
Thanks so much for this, dude. This made putting my shelves together way easier. Also I sobered up while watching, so that may have made a difference....
This was very helpful in helping me and my mom assemble our wire rack. We had the shelves facing the wrong the direction. Thanks so much for the video!
my mom almost made my grandfather put together her shelf since I was procrastinating. The day I say yes I can’t click any of the things in the place because I didn’t know it’s a slide and click maneuver thank you for this video still relevant almost a decade later got a love it on the first search too
I rarely comment on these but I felt I had to on this one. First I must thank you for two things, for showing me how to put together a shelf that I thought was going to be a no-brainer and for making me look like an idiot in front of my wife, she loves that. I purchased a shelf that is a different brand but has the same concept. I did not get around to unboxing it for six weeks which meant, no returns. The directions in the box were terrible. I assumed you simply put the clips on and the shelf sat on the clips, all done. The shelves kept sliding down the poles along with the clips and I kept getting madder and madder. Finally, I took the whole thing and started putting it in the dumpster but then I decided to try TH-cam and found this video. Wow, the holes in the corner of the shelves go over the top of the clips which compresses them and holds them in place. I felt stupid but I dragged everything back out and 20 minutes later I had a 72" 5-shelf unit and a big smile. Thanks for the assist.
I love you sir...was feeling so negative about all this...looking at the pieces...confused...not my thing... went for walk...stuffed about..bought other stuff I don't really need....looked at the childrens book on what do you do when you have a problem...came to library and found you...thank you so much...all makes sense...can do sir can do...many many thanks...and the speaker function isn't working on this public computer but you have made it look very easy...very logical...looking forward to putting it together...been in this place for a year finishing off degree and no time for clutter...YIPPPPEE
Thank you for making this video it really helps me because when I got mine from Sam's it only came with Italian instructions so your video help me assemble my shelving unit
No the design is great. I have put together this type a lot of times and it's not that common to slip. Brand can make a difference, careful of weight limits too. When i had problems it was because I didnt catch the grooves well. Today had to hold one while pressing down on the shelf. If you use all your weight too fast, it can slip ( if you are heavy ). Can try using the spare set they give you if you think the ridge on the plastic piece may be messed up.
Oh, you saved my sanity!! I should have checked first to see if there was an easy way to assemble the unit! Thank you so much for making it so easy, that is, after I spent like 1 1/2 hours throwing a temper tantrum. Heheh...
Rubber mallet from the bottom corners of each shelf, push up, take plastic pieces off, re position where you meed them. If you have other shelves in the way goodluxk its a huge PITA.
Judy Vieveen yes. I figured it out tho. Try this: Mark where u want your clips. Then carefully slide the clips to the pole where u put your shelf at. Then repeat with the other legs
I wanted to know whether I could keep building upward as I have high ceilings and want to occupy all vertical space available, and I think I have the answer which is... I can. I think. The best shelving options so I'm gonna just go for it.
Any tips on disassembly? I've received one that has the shelf clips set to less-than-ideal heights, and want to change where they're set. No amount of tugging, pushing, or pulling in any which direction seems to be helping loosen things up!
Greg Spevak They're just a friction fit, as more force is applied downward, the tighter it gets. Just tap upward with a rubber mallet going from side to side until it breaks free.
It's much easier if you turn the whole unit upside-down. Use a rubber mallet to tap the bottom shelf (which is now on top) downward at each corner until it is dislodged from the clip. Let the shelf slide downward, remove its clips. Then lift the shelf up over the poles. Repeat for the remaining shelves. When you get to the last one, give each pole a twist, and it will come free.
I assembled these in the past with no problems, but recently I got a different brand of wire shelf, the plastic shelf clips don't stay tight on the posts, does this mean the plastic clips are bad or the posts...???
I had face the problem when slot in the shelves .. which side to face up and which side to face down?? After some time it's slanting down give a way from post clips 😢. I seriously in disaster m.mmm
What do I do if the clips won't fit together? I've tried everything and there is always a gap opening. I put on the bottom shelf hoping it would squeeze them together, but there is a still a gap!
I've also had problems with the shelf clips. They do not stay put. I thought they might have expanded because of the heatwave and have put them in the freezer! But they are not satisfactory. I'm going to have to use some sort of glue. It's frustrating.
Thank you very much it’s Christmas time I’ve just moved into my new apartment and you have been a big big big huggable help for me to store my items from my kitchen and my bathroom thank you very much
Everything about his voice is pleasant asf .. I’m sitting here like hmm .. I wonder if he explains how to build other stuff .. while having nothing else that needs building lol
When I first opened this hypertough box & seen all these brackets with these TRASH introductions I was so lost. I watch half of this short video & see I didn't even have to finish it, SO easy!! They need to get it together with the instructions lol
How do you set up wire shelving at a right angle? I have seen pictures of wire shelves set up in in a corner, with one of the post of one shelving unit missing. Any insights?
There were no instructions to explain that it seems like the clips don't lock, (one side clips the other doesn't) but when you slide them down to where you want them, they do lock in place.
Thank you!!! I've been sitting here for hours trying to force the sleeve through but the hole was too small only to watch this and find out i was inserting it through the wrong side of the hole 😭😭😭
When I try to clip the bracket together one side fits to the other side off the legs; but when I try to clamp the two plastic pieces together they DON"T snap together. How do I fix this?
I was getting just as fed up but, at least with my shelving, I discovered that the secret is to press the clips together underneath a ring groove on the legs, slide up and it clicks into place! He might have mentioned that on the video but it is far from clear. The other thing that helped me was to use pipe grips to incrementally squeeze the clip and the shelf together finishing with a really big squeeze.
Disculpe yo compré un librero como este y me hizo falta un una rosca para unir el tubo y formarlo acomo me vendería uno y un paquete de los plásticos negro me hace mucha falta me contestan por favor gracias
Mine was 72 inches high (6 feet), the five shelves are 36 inches wide and 14 inches deep. They make shorter units with 3 or 4 shelves only also. And I've seen some models that have smaller shelves, like 21 inches long.
I want to thank you for this video. I was about to quit putting up my shelf today. This video helped me slow down and try again and now my shelf is up and ready for use. Thank you and God Bless you!!!
Such a simple, straight-ahead explanation. Just what I needed. Thanks!
Note that even when properly positioned, the two halves of the shelf-pole collar('sleeve') do have a 1/8" gap, but the ends are snug against the pole (no crescent space). If there is a crescent gap, slide it up or down until it snaps snugly in place. Thank you. Amazing how even a decade in the future this is still such a help to people.
Thanks so much for this, dude. This made putting my shelves together way easier. Also I sobered up while watching, so that may have made a difference....
😂 tried to do this after taking dabs not working to well , needed the video 😭
😂😂😂😂😂
This was very helpful in helping me and my mom assemble our wire rack. We had the shelves facing the wrong the direction.
Thanks so much for the video!
I was about to return the shelf unit but I'm so grateful for this video.

Very helpful! Had no clue what I was doing at first, searched on TH-cam and found your video. Assembled my shelves in less than 10 minutes. :)

I don't have the double spacing, single only and having a tough time snapping the space sleeve together.
Thank you for making this video it really helps me because when I got mine from Sam's it only came with Italian instructions so your video help me assemble my shelving unit
He forgot to show all the times that the plastic clips were easily dislodged forcing him to start all over again.
Virtually impossible to get them on even holding them with and adjustable and tapping with a mallet.
This construction looks nice in theory, but is in practice C-R-A-P!

Thank you,Thank you,Thank you, this came very handy for me to setup the shelves
Should have also show how to re-adjust the shelf if you need to later on
Rubber mallet from the bottom corners of each shelf, push up, take plastic pieces off, re position where you meed them. If you have other shelves in the way goodluxk its a huge PITA.
Awesome video! We were able to let our intern watch it and assemble 10 of these shelves in an hour.
thank you..we got the shelf up and running with the help of your video.instruction Manuel sucks
Shelcie Harris I KNOW
Thanks so much! Could not figure out how to assemble until I’ve watched this video
My black clips do not clip together around the pole. One side clips but the other does not it's like it's too small. Anyone else have this problem?
Yep
Judy Vieveen yes. I figured it out tho.
Try this:
Mark where u want your clips.
Then carefully slide the clips to the pole where u put your shelf at.
Then repeat with the other legs
try flipping your shelves upside down. the sleeves are tapered
Thank you to smart people who help us stupid people. :)
@@TimOdoms LOL
Thanks for the insight now I can save time because I hate reading instructions and didn't know the black plastic had top written on it.
Thanks for producing such an informative video. The instructions that came with my Whitmor unit are almost useless.
This video was a lifesaver.
I was feeling really dumb today and not in the mood to tackle this task... Till I realized how easy it was! 😂
Geeeesh!! All these comments got me having second thoughts about my uline purchase 🥴
I wanted to know whether I could keep building upward as I have high ceilings and want to occupy all vertical space available, and I think I have the answer which is... I can. I think. The best shelving options so I'm gonna just go for it.
I got a six shelf one how do I space them evenly
I wonder if this system could be used to assemble a 7 story tall paint scalping? I mean he did say as many shelves as I needed right?
Any tips on disassembly? I've received one that has the shelf clips set to less-than-ideal heights, and want to change where they're set. No amount of tugging, pushing, or pulling in any which direction seems to be helping loosen things up!

Can you do a quick video of installing the hook bars that go on the sides?
I had face the problem when slot in the shelves .. which side to face up and which side to face down?? After some time it's slanting down give a way from post clips 😢. I seriously in disaster m.mmm
Thanks for sharing this! Much appreciated.
All I can say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

How do those clips pop loose so that I can disassemble the shelf because I need to move them to my new home?
I wish to transform mine into a baby crib. Just wondering how.

Everything about his voice is pleasant asf .. I’m sitting here like hmm .. I wonder if he explains how to build other stuff .. while having nothing else that needs building lol
Mary, thank you for your comment. Did you use our shelf clip?
Great help thank you sooooo much! ❤
Where can I purchase additional shelves for these Units? Thanks, Larry.
Wire shelving is a versatile storage solution that can be used in any room.
What do I do with the bag of discs? Not sure what they are for?
they are throwaway. they protected your openings on shelf corners during shipment.
When I first opened this hypertough box & seen all these brackets with these TRASH introductions I was so lost. I watch half of this short video & see I didn't even have to finish it, SO easy!! They need to get it together with the instructions lol
Can we make two smaller shelves out of this?
Thank you 🙏
I have a 5 tier i bought and am about to trash because i can't get the plastic sleeves to work properly

+Sylvie Roy Yes, although the clips are secure they do have a bit of space between them.
Thaank you so match 👍🏻

Thank you so much very helpful
This is a good video and all, but I'm curious if anyone knows how to REMOVE one of the shelves on it
The shelves only go halfway over the locks, someone help me pls
Did you find a solution cause I have the same problem
Damn clips dont stay clipped
Disculpe yo compré un librero como este y me hizo falta un una rosca para unir el tubo y formarlo acomo me vendería uno y un paquete de los plásticos negro me hace mucha falta me contestan por favor gracias
The black parts are not fucking clipping on about bout to throw the whole shelf away
The black holders kept popping out and it won't stand. I'm over it
Where did you buy this type of shelf ? Anyone what kind this is ?
Duchess Ss hi.. Home Depot has them..
Excellent
I hate these shelves. How are you supposed to evenly space four shelves on 70 indentions. Or the optional six shelves on the same 70 notch poles
Awesome
Lifesaver
Wait.. Is that Ed Sheehan? Has his music career went belly up? Kidding.
Thank you so much your amazing!
what's the size of this shelf?
Mine was 72 inches high (6 feet), the five shelves are 36 inches wide and 14 inches deep.
They make shorter units with 3 or 4 shelves only also. And I've seen some models that have smaller shelves, like 21 inches long.
I want those shelves
Thank you!
Tnks 👍🏼
excellent video!! loved it!!!! >:D
I AM GOING TO RETURN IT BECAUSE OF THE PLASTIC CLIPS COMING OFF..AS SOON I PUT SOME PRESSURE....
MAY BE IT'S DEFECTIVE
