Soeedybee Master Frame Strength Hi All, before I published this video I did have some thoughts on the strength of the front structure on the Master Frame. On the standard version there is an additional leg going to the lower plate that’s not there on the HD Version. I have seen comments questioning the strength of the front end and it’s crash’s ability. The CNC parts mount to the bottom and top plates with two screws each. There have been some comments this would just fold in on a crash however I don’t see a major issue here compared to other similar frames such as the Roma and others. The top plate would have to snap or the screws let go to move as it’s held with the standoffs. I’m not going to say this is the most solid frame you can buy or would survive like Bots Demibot frame however it’s on par with many of the other O3 frames. To be honest these are not really designed to be all out bashers and while it’s actually pretty strong it’s going to suffer some damage in a big off. Tbh chose not to really discuss this in the video as I have the believe many of these frames like this and the Roma style ones are more easy fliers than bando bashers. Thanks Mad.
Ian, will speedy bee sell that special 20x20 to 03 mount cnc plate separate? designing a frame and thst would fit just perfectly. thanks for your time.
I love the looks, the thought they put into it and that hexagonal style everywhere... really nice. It looks quite a bit heavy though and I have strong doubts this vibration absorber of the stack is actually a good idea. We mount those stacks on screws now that are hard-mounted to the frames using nylon-coated nuts to provide a mounting point as solid as somehow possible and with the gummies being the only dampeners just eliminating high frequencies. This one here will result in a stack that wobbles around in low frequencies you can't or don't want to filter, resulting in an overall rather low performance... Chris Rosser did a vid on why you need to hard-mount your stack screws. Let's hope they actually AB-tested that piece. Otherwise... great little thingy!
Thanks for the review Ian. A need to replace camera to air unit cable will be an instant no-no for many people considering how hard it is to do and judging by your own video, especially the last one where you damaged the mipi connector and had to do that super-tiny soldering under a microscope 😀 Obviously this is a sponsored review, and it feels like they focus more on the box and presentation than on the usability. It would be very nice to see a noise spectrogram of the frame and I obviously can't know for sure, but that silicon insert in the middle of the frame might actually do more harm than good. The whole weight of the ESC is going to be resting on it and jumping to all sides I guess? It would probably affect the frame's rigidity as well. For the DJI O3, there aren't that many frames right now and out of the most popular ones , the iFlight Evoque V2 seems to be a much better frame but so complex to build and heavy. The AOS 3.5 O3 and the Quadmula Siren F5 Split are the other two good options. The Quadmula one really feels like a new Apex for O3, it's simple, great quality and resources were put into the frame rather than packaging. ;-)
That's a pretty good deal for SpeedyBee then! Sending just one frame and getting a full-fledge box opening, build, videos of the assembled frame in a cools stance, and a vouch from a very respected FPV tech youtuber.
It’s worth noticing that the Master 5 “non HD” does not need the longer camera cable, and fit the O3 as well (4$ option), I also think the shorter frame and less wide geometry will make a nicer frame to fly!! Only downsides are the props will be visible, and the xt60 integrated mount is not available
Have you seen Chris Rosser's video explaining the need for nuts on the stack standoffs? So with this isolating mount it may cause some form of amplification in certain gyro frequencies or modes. So I think you would want to mount the stack rigidly to itself with no silicone in the holes so it is a solid stack then mounted to this hunk of silicone in the frame or maybe only mount the FC in the middle and find somewhere else for the ESC. This certainly needs gyro data shown for each of the different isolators.
Great review. kinda think you could land on a rock and send it through the stack with out having bottom plate protection under the stack. would like to know how the cameras mount handles the vibration to the built in imu. would off like to seen silicone o3 camera mount instead of silicone stack mount
Hey do you have any blackbox pre filter noise plots available for this frame? I would like to see this before I jump into this frame. I really like the idea that the props are out of view for the o3 air unit and ditching my go pros for this build. The stack mounting method in theory should make for a real nice noise plot, I too would go for the translucent gray for that extra dampening.
Looks great i think they should supply cable and paste for the heatsink even if they charge a bit more then you wouldn't start building it to be upset 03 doesn't fit thanks for the review pal.
It looks great, I still have my reservations on the strength of that front end, it was flexing just as you touched it. Strange for them to make it require a longer coaxial lead even though they have plenty of room to bring the air unit forward.
Just built mine today. Thanks to @Madstech video, which helped make the decision. The quality of the carbon machining far surpasses that on the Ummagawd Demibot frame. Smoothe and sculpted rather than sharp and basic. But there's no way this would handle a crash anything near the Demibot quad. I feel this would snap at it's throat, pretty easily. Gonna use mine as a mellow video capturing machine :D
The arm design is interesting. It's fun to see other designers adapt my design from the QAV-S :D I've been doing this long enough to see a number of techniques I pioneered get adapted to common practice. I actually don't mind and I'm glad to see people iterating and improving. There's some really interesting concepts in this. I'll be curious to see how they bear out in practical application, but I have to say it's an interesting evolution of the QAV-S design.
Is there a general consensus on soft vs hard mounting the screws themselves to the frame and relying solely on the rubber grommets? Some frames soft mount the screws with the grommets which appears worse overall if the entire ESC shakes along with with the FC. This frame however soft mounts the entire works from the frame, it should perform well but I would expect one to want to isolate ESC from the FC vibration simply due to all the large motor/battery wires that come from it that also transfer vibration into the FC.
The frame is incredible. I have already assembled the drone and flew it. But there is one bad thing. I can't attach an ND filter to my camera. Aluminum racks are fitted closely to the camera. Will have to work a little with a file. I also could not find a comfortable place for TBS Nano RX receiver. And the battery connector is located so that the battery cannot be installed strictly in the middle. The rubber platform for the stack is highly dubious. I think that the controller should be rigidly attached to the frame. But I did not observe a known bug from the O3 camera jelly. We'll see.
Very interesting frame.....I think I see more negatives than positives here. Best not crash it...... But interesting heatsink idea...... Anyway. Excellent video Ian as always
Hi I want to connect the DJI O3 unit with F405 V3 stack. Could anyone help explain on how to do it? Is it enough to use the HD Unit Plug on the stack? Or do I have to disassemble the plug from dji o3 and solder specific cables? If I have to, what wires should I connect? I really thank you for any help here
What happened to SpeedyBee Master 5 HD and SpeedyBee Master 5. They have been removed from the SpeedyBee Homepage. They are listed as such in my order "Unfortunately this product is no longer for sale so it cannot be reordered." 0:15
@@MadRC You are correct. With current applicable coupons and savings, The Master 5 non-HD combined with the F4 stack cost 121.59usd. Extra arms are 3.49$.

The front end is aluminum, the camera mount is what you might have seen move but the cam is supposed to be soft mounted.
@@drewgotit3569 does those camera mount out of view from camera footage?

damnit these new 03 frames are costing me some money. pretty sweet. and the new speedy bee f7 is the shit. gonna grab that one i think
was gonna get this to replace my iflight SL5 o3 build, but the need for a longer cable is keeping me away

@@andrewbt87 I just realized a bunch of US retailers have the longer cable so I am not def gonna grab this frame when pyrodrone gets it

Was scared the whole video that you would put the heatsink in an incorrect orientation and you did!
if i changed it with 150mm cable ... that will work..?
wich variant for HDZero Freestyle.?

It looks really polished and the vibration dampening seems like it will dampen vibes 1000x better than the usual gummies.

I think we need more options on camera cables 😅
Like 17,5cm..
20cm looks bit too long 🤔
I'm glad they didn't go with that gold color on the aluminum pieces but don't like the speedybee branding on them.😒😏

Great review, thank you.
Has anyone installed a Walksnail avatar video system in this frame? will the length of the stock cable be enough?
