- With the release of Showdown in the Badlands, Blizzard nerfed the XP gain from Mercenaries mode to the ground. However, you can still get XP from AFK farming, and the best way to do that is to use Solo Adventures, especially, the Boomsday Project!

ohhh, hear ye Hearthstone-prophet ! he has given us his blessings once again ! :D many thanks ! great help as always, especially now since Mercenaries only gives 28 XP per half an hour... quite some drastic change - wouldn't mind about the Event-XP, as this was Blizzards main concern about that Xp-nerf, but missing out on a lot of gold for the rewards-track does make a huge difference !

Thanks to the Old Guardian for such an interesting idea with experience farming. Indeed, they cut the mercenaries very badly. Wouldn't you like to come up with decks for faster taking of achievements? Zeddy does this. Can you compete with him in this? All the best.)
how much xp its giving for 30min?
I logged into Boom puzzles and realized I needed last 2 puzzles in secret laboratory to get the cardback, but... thanks to the Giant Mastodont buff, it's no longer doable

When you finish the game, it doesnt show you how much xp gained. Thats not very assuring. Do you check your before and after to see it go up?
Nevermind. Once you come back after 28mins or so, you hit leave. Then it shows your the xp gained. Been doing this for this expansion. New way for xp farming.

I just joined the boomsday solo adventure, then left and if i understood right, I got 4xp. Was this nerfed again? Or am i doing something wrong here. I dont have tavern pass (yet).
you need to afk 30 minutes to get max xp per try.

@Old Guardian i am sorry to ask this if its common knowledge but why set a timer at 25-30mins and not 10mins for example? Is there a mechanism that awards no exp if you concede earlier than 25mins?

The maximum is 30 minutes. There is no reason to check back more often than necessary, you will just need to spend more time in the game.

@@andrewhenshaw4067 well spending time with loading screens isnt that fun in any game(btw. Its a description of the AFK method) farming XP means efficiency of gaining XP in a given time period. More games in a time period-> more time wasted with waiting for the game is started again -> less time left for earning the XP

how much xp do you gain in bg every 10 or 15mins? With puzzle, I get about 140 every 28mins with 20% boost from tavern pass.
isn't Battlegrounds AFK farm better? Of course you can't time it as better, but what's the xp rate per 30 minutes?
I think battlegrounds is better xp (160/30min?) but requires you to be constantly in the client and games can last less than 30 min. So you need to check v often if you're still in a match.

I'm sure they'll nerf this to the new mercenaries level next. Then we got no shot at 400 ever again.

Its better than nothing but yes you have to be bothered to do this every 30 mins for 240xp per hour and if miss it by even 1 min (ie log back in at 31 mins), you just wasted half an hour. Its a good method for those who really wanna push it, but might be easier to spend a bit of money in the game 😂
Remember that you need energy to run your computer.
There is a serious chance, that you are much better off if you just shut down your pc (or let it idle!) and buy packs with the money you saved on energy.
Example: If your computer uses 200Watt/hour when you run Hearthstone, you need 1,6kWh for an 8 hour idle farm.
How much that is depends on your energy price of course - in Germany it is 60-70 Cent.
Oh, and you need to constantly get back to your computer and stuff like that.
Seriously, get a job for 1 hour per week and buy the packs with the money you earn there. In the end you invest a lot of energy and time to get half a pack per day, which is 50 Cent.
After energycost you maybe "earn" 10 or 20 CENT per day. And for 20 Cent you have to constantly set you a timer.

That's totally insane IMO.
Yup, when they nerfed mercs, I actually used that chance to stop farming. Actually Blizzard nerfing the exp was a blessing. People are so addicted (or no lifers) they need to resort to slavery of their time to get a few crumples. I will probably never do that again.

How worthless do you rate your own time?
Either buy the packs or don't buy them - both is fine. (Personally, I spent a total of 25 bucks in 9 years of Hearthstone.)
But wasting your valuable time with a net gain of something like 10 Cent per hour is just insanity IMO.

AFK farming manually in single-player modes is not against the terms of service. If you automate it, you may get banned.

Solo adventure doesn't yield any good XP, after 25 mins of the afk approach mentioned the yield was 89 exp which sadly is no good.. I think that's 200xp/hr.. Correct me if I am wrong
What is 200xp in terms of levels ?
@patrickyaacoub5756 depend on level but on screen right now, from 24 to 25 or something else, it was required 6XX lol
so 3h30 for 1 level.
but it is an afk method. you work/clean/shower/sport and every 30min, you come back and like this 1 or 2 level per day without actually playing

Yes, with the pass it's around 135-138XP for me with the 15%, it will be a little more when I get to the 20% increase

Don't use bots. Blizzard will detect automatism and ban your account.

Theoretically, yes. There are enough hours in an expansion cycle. Realistically, it is a fair bit more difficult than with Mercs.
The best I got afking was 331 during Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion, along with all dailies & weeklies and got some exp from achievements too. Afking gets us only 120 exp now, back then we'd get 168. It's definitely possible to reach 400, but you have to do this everyday, and pretty much all the time, for me personally its not worth it anymore. I only did it back then to catch up on old packs. I gotta say it became annoying real quick to stop whatever I was doing to go check on hs every 30 mins.

Yesterday my account got banned for "using automatic programs(bots)". I was doing this afk farm everyday on my phone and got to 280+ lvl without tavern pass, earlier before nerfs I used mercenaries to max revards track. Today after appeal I've got message "After reviewing your case, we can confirm that the evidence collected was correct and the penalty imposed fits the offense." And to be clear I never ever used anything than my own hands on this game... RIP 4+ years, i'm out. So I advise to be careful and use only runestones...

Definitely not. No one got banned from afk farming Mercs for the past 3 seasons or so.
As long as you do not automate the process with something like an auto-clicker, there is nothing bannable in XP farming.

I actually got lvl 400 the LAST day last season (with tavern pass) so this season….no….Imdont think it’s possible.
Well, level 387 is enough for 20,000 Gold anyway :)

Battlegrounds match lengths are unpredictable, and you'll just be burning out your phone by leaving it open all day.
This is consistent. You know exactly when you need to do something. Battlegrounds requires more attention even if you don't actually play. I also consider the fact that this is done in a solo mode and does not affect other people a major upside.
This uses electricity. Electricity is not free. Plus, you're wearing out your computer, phone or tablet doing unnecesssary, useless tasks. The lifespan of a device is finite. THINK before you AFK!
Sure, but logging on and off every 30 min isn't gonna take a very big toll on your hardware device
