@@Anastasia_Sever that’s actually kind of why I made my first comment. I’ve always struggled with getting followers and likes but still had some good opportunities. In terms of the friends thing it’s not really that my friends are particularly supportive it’s just that you really don’t know who could give you an opportunity. As an example someone I barely knew from University showed one of their friends a project my studio worked on and this led to a client for us. Hi Milk...flavoured (cute name!), You are so welcome! If you enjoy watching art videos, you can make some too. TH-cam is a good platform for artists, even better than IG in many ways.
A lot of these videos have almost the same msg. I just started with IG last month so I've been watching a lot of these. I'm happy to say yours is actually a lot better and a lot more intimate with the problem. Thanks a bunch! This might be irrelevant, but I also think you have very pretty fingers❤️

Thanks for the advice. I started my Instagram account when lockdown started and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to showcase my art to get feedback and improve as an artist. While I don't care too much about having a huge following, it does make me wonder if my work is lacking, especially compared to many artists within my niche.
The visual identity is something that I struggle quite a bit since I like to do different styles depending on the body of work. But the advice is on point.
@runiih I watched a recent video where the guy painted the same thing every day. Maybe this could be something you could do to tie all your work together. Consistent subjects in a variety of art mediums?
@@ArtySubu this kind of things pissed me off. Please do that do you need to do, not the market trend or something like this. You can had a "corporative palette of colors" and "corporative lettering" to ad in case do you need some cohesive visual image. Artist didn´t need to be a fashion label. Need to do art for themselves first.
I feel you other frustrating point is when you spend almost a month to make a great painting and you got barely 3 likes and 0 follower 😣 we should build an engagement group so we can boost ourself up
It is so great to listen and watch at you! I don't know you. My first video of you I watched was yesterday, you were at an art show in Madrid. I really liked it. I'm going to see the rest of your videos to learn a lot about art and selling etc. I'm a beginning artist, so I could use some good and honest advices. When I will have enough art work, I will go public. And I have a feeling we'll meet someday. :) I look forward to it!
Hi Susan, it’s certainly likely we will meet one day. In fact earlier this afternoon I came across someone who said: “Hey, do you have this TH-cam channel?” - and it was a nice coincidence that someone came across me in the middle of ARCO art fair in Madrid.
WOW YOU HAVE A LOT OF FACTS I LIKE HOW YOU GOT SO MANY EXPERIENCES AND EVERY TIME YOU GAVE A TIP YOU TOLD A EXAMLPE FOR IT WHICH YOU SAW OR FACED THANK YOU NICE VIDEO !!
I get more engagement on my draw this in your style entries...from what I'm understanding from this maybe I should keep doing that type of artwork? Basically fanart. None of my original pieces get as much engagement. I hate that about instagram.
It's really sad how some people base every artist by their popularity....I got my first IG too last year it only has 30+ post but my followers is nearly 4K (not bad at all) ive met so many hardworking artist before ....iam so sad cuz among population of artist around the world only 10% or 20% get the chance to get featured while the rest are not being able to get what they deserve ..
We also judge women by their weight and judge men by their wealth. This problem you mentioned is not an isolated issue. I don’t think I can change the world in my life time. What I can do is to help artists get more exposure so they have more chance of making it. If someone comes up with a better solution, I’d like to consider too!
Doesnt matter what galleries or others think about what you have been doing for the last years and why you are start painting now - No „late-starting“ artist has to come up with some story - Just say the truth or say whatever - If someone find it strange thats they're problem - Important thing is you started and should just focusing on painting and share it - Dont have to have use the old school galleries - The world is a one big gallery with all the social media and millions will love what you paint without asking questions "why are you starting now?"
Sure! Just start at any time and create works that people would want to buy. That’s the real deal. But some people like to “small talk”. Like when I entered a kayak club for the first time, other club members asked: what brought you here? I applied for business school after 30 years old, I was also asked: “why are you doing this?” They are not trying to embarrass me, they are just trying to break the ice. When you start painting later in life, people are gonna ask - not in a bad way. It’s good to have some kind of answers at hand, so you can make great impressions. It’s not to justify, but to socialize.
Jack of all trade, master of none.. this happened to me, and I tried to post all in my talent in one social media, but I was stacked.. a lot let my page.. before I created another handle for my other talents.. But I couldn’t handle the both, I had to disable the handle and focus on my art handle, and have been growing .. and my reach has been getting to a lot engagements.. this vid is helpful
Hi Liams, thanks for your message. Sometimes you can use an autopilot strategy. We run some secondary Ins accounts that are growing on its own. It's not as fast but we don't spend so much time.
@@liamsjr3726 You simply start an Instagram account that is a niche, not just about your art. For example, you start an account called 'Street Art Paris' (just an example!!!) then show some reposts from street artists in Paris. Maybe take some photos of street art you see when you visit Paris. Then this account will grow on its own with very little maintenance. You do need to curate some good content, and post some original stuff.
I don’t know if I completely agree with what you said about “Jack of All Trades Master of None” because that’s only a part of the phrase the whole phrase is “Jack of All Trades Master of none, but still always better than a master of one!”
Haha yes. In the past if you have several skills you might be the most popular person in a village. Today art becomes more and more niche. People would like more to see a specialized and dedicated artist who isn’t doing anything else. Like when Paris Hilton told the media that she is becoming an artist, she received quite bad press. If she had been doing art and only art all her life, I am sure she could receive much better feedback from the public.
One of the good way to promote your art brand is to separate all the different skills you have, and make different profiles for each of them. This way you can have several sources of income. Many brands like Inditex (largest fashion textile brand in Spain) is doing it this way.
Thank you so much for the help! Sadly all the 7 reasons was related to me haha... Well, it just means my art is not bad, I'm only bad at social media - for now. I will work on these reason, thank you for making this video, really!!
Social media is like dating. You need a mixture of personal charm and consistency, perhaps some luck as well. It's as rewarding as dating, when you form a long lasting relationship with your fans. You got this!
Hello again! Great points! While watching the video I just jotted down some thoughts: I just wanted to say that the fastest way to grow your art on social media at the moment is tiktok. You can go from 0 to 300,000 overnight. It is one of the best social media platforms for art! Other things you can do is utilize places like reddit to advertise your art, and be smart about what you post! EVERYONE loves a good realism piece and if you create a really good one and share your other social media platforms through reddit then people can see the art that you truly like to make! You can also take advantage of holidays, national events, etc. To get on trending very easily.
Hi 👋 Yes Tiktok is good, and it’s from my city Beijing. However, I wouldn’t personally invest too much time on Tiktok, because the policy issues. After all it’s a Chinese company. Like Huawei, Chinese companies can be banned in some regions of the world. It’s not fair but it’s like this.
Hello, I used to post my art on my personal channel, but now that I decided to sell my artwork, I created an account for my pieces. All my paintings are abstract with different styles. I posted my first post today, but to be honest I’m kind of scared of failing and not being able to sell my art. I don’t know I’m trying to grow my account before selling obviously, but I just hope it does. Thank you for your tips!
Ohhhh you have English version channel!! I like your very gentle way of speaking and soft voice make me feel comfortable :) I really enjoy my time to learn English speaking and art knowledge from you! You are totally deserve more fans. Thank you again 💕
I like how you addressed points besides posting consistently or connecting with a lot of other artists. For a while now I've observed how most of my favourite popular artists have stayed on the app for years, but I didn't hear about something like that other than here when you pointed out being born in the wrong time. For me, it was accepting my art enough to show it to the world too late. I won't say my progress is bad but not really favourable either, my art has progressed enough from practicing that now I get comments telling me that they would love to see more of style. I'm at about 30 posts with 450 followers and i show a lot of OCs and sometimes their stories and little comics. My biggest fear is spending months on instagram with little to no progress. (Sometimes comments saying you're underrated can be embrassing or even painful to read lol 😅)
Hi thanks for sharing your thoughts. If each post can bring you more than 4 new followers, that is already better than my growth rate. There is no mathematical equation to calculate how many followers you will get from posting. Just think each follower you get without paying, is something you’ve got for free :)
THANK YOU! I prefer being myself, happy and healthy doing different things, than being depressed by doing one. I think my versality is special and valuable. I´m a better teacher because of this. Maybe art world didn´t recognize this, but I do now!
Thanks for the tips! I have two art accounts for two different art styles, but sometimes they crossover and I want to post the same post to both accounts. Is that bad, and will instagram somehow sense that I'm reposting the same artwork to two different accounts? And also, if I have a final artwork but I also want to show the process video behind it, is it better to just include it all in one post or make a separate post? A lot of times my first post has no traction so I want to make another post to try to get more views on that one. Hope I'm making sense!
Hey Stephanie, I think it's better to show behind the main image if you don't add any other things (voice, editing etc). When you add enough value, you can show it separately. Adding more value, I mean to add voice over, music and b-rolls. When it becomes a separate 'product', like a tutorial or 'story time' vlog, you can publish as a separate post. It will attract different kind of viewers.
Personally I don't think posting the same content twice is good. You can add variations like the way to present or edit your image. IF you really need to post the same, you can do a repost. This is just my personal preference because I think you will attract more quality followers if you can provide original and unique content.
That was awesome! So conscious ! So good info , responsive ! 🙌🙌Had figure most of 5hose lately ! You go farther to really underline very imp aspects! Thanks lots ! Just suggestions a bit of Visuals.. share snapshots! , like that!, 🙌🌺
Hmmmmmm? I am thinking 2021 and the future for us Artists & Photographers is ONLINE MARKETING; LIKE FROM THE ARTIST STUDIO; TO THE COLLECTOR’S WALLS, which leaves us more time for Creating.
Started watching the video somewhat interested (my instagram kinda got stuck), but after watching it ended up incredibly depressed. Well.. I guess that's also an acceptable reaction. I'll go back to the drawing board and trying to figure out what's going on with my instagram.
I make 3D assets for video games, and it surprised me so much that the things that have the most 'likes' are the 'half-finished' stuff or things that show how unfinished assets looks like! trying to figure out how to build on that!
I study animation and work at an animation studio here in Vancouver. When I am not doing assignments (that many times are not even that exciting to look at), I am working on NDA stuff that I won’t be able post in at least one year. That sums up to around 10-12hrs of work a day and at the end I am just too tired to do any more drawings, especially now that I went back to the gym. What should I do? Although I can totally spare some time every now and then to draw some stuff for myself (which I do) It’s often just sketches and I need some time to recharge my batteries so I won’t burnout. Should I just wait until college is over to start thinking about what to do to grow?
Hi Matheus, Thanks for your message. I experienced similar struggle when I was working for an institution with NDA and I had to sign off my copyright as well. For a few years, I had no work to show. But the job taught me a lot when I was in my 20s. I think you can start a TH-cam channel and post videos about “life as a professional animator”. I am sure younger artists who are still in school would like that. You don’t need to show your works, just show your daily life and talk about the projects you are working on (without showing graphical content of your project). Like “working on a new Pixar thing”.
You can make one profile and try to grow until your goal, like 5000 or 10,000 following. Then you start a second profile so you are not overloaded with lots of work.
Very useful video, thank you. But my advice is add some illustrations like screenshots to be more understandable. I'm from Russia and I am very interested in your content. But I have some problems with listening because I don't know english enough. And some illustrations can help me with this. I hope I didn't sound boring :) I just don't know language constructs that be more polite. You're awesome and as i said your videos are useful and interesting. Thank you again!
Over 900 posts he got 500 followers, as a real artist posting good quality content? I mean... why? I’m an amateur with 81 posts and 1200 followers and I don’t even stress and post once every few weeks with just a couple hashtags. Seriously I have no idea how IG works...
Sometimes certain things don’t get many followers. For example I am researching interactive documentary editing software... the social media accounts on this topic has less than 100 subs each.
there are artists that literally have three posts and have like 500 follows already like what °_°

Thank you for sharing! I just got my passion in painting and this content comes in at the right time!
Hi Steven! Thanks for watching!
That was the most insightful guide I’ve watched in a long time ❤
thank you for being so encouraging. i will try to take you recommendations into account!
How well are you doing after 2 months?
@@shiningskies47 Welllll.... Im just up to 150 followers but I have an average of 70 likes per post cos i try to interact with the art community and support growing accounts like mine. Oh yh Im a 'sorta artist'
My Art posts are more than my followers 😌
I really need this tips thank you so much 🙂
You're so welcome!
Thanks for the advice. I started my Instagram account when lockdown started and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to showcase my art to get feedback and improve as an artist. While I don't care too much about having a huge following, it does make me wonder if my work is lacking, especially compared to many artists within my niche.
Glad I could help! Keep posting, keep making new art!
You are the best! Thank you for your helpful content!
Me with my 54 artworks and 6 followers: OTL
same we should follow each other bestie😩🤝
Whats your instagram I'll follow you!
I feel that!
I feel you other frustrating point is when you spend almost a month to make a great painting and you got barely 3 likes and 0 follower 😣 we should build an engagement group so we can boost ourself up
@@hollyguacamolee9694 love that idea! 😍
@@VeryPrivateGallery So kind of you to answer my post! Well, such a coincidence indeed! I'm from the Netherlands by the way. :)
Thanks for your insights and perspectives....they are precious .......👍😊
WOW YOU HAVE A LOT OF FACTS
I LIKE HOW YOU GOT SO MANY EXPERIENCES AND EVERY TIME YOU GAVE A TIP YOU TOLD A EXAMLPE FOR IT WHICH YOU SAW OR FACED
THANK YOU NICE VIDEO !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@VeryPrivateGallery yupp i did
actually what i liked is your experience
🥰🥰
Very insightful video
Sounds like good advice to me. Thank you. I have subscribed because I want to grow my social media presence as an artist and begin to sell my work.
I needed this video earlier but I couldn’t..
Hi Liams, thanks for your message. Sometimes you can use an autopilot strategy. We run some secondary Ins accounts that are growing on its own. It's not as fast but we don't spend so much time.
Very Private Gallery how do I get to it
@@liamsjr3726 You simply start an Instagram account that is a niche, not just about your art. For example, you start an account called 'Street Art Paris' (just an example!!!) then show some reposts from street artists in Paris. Maybe take some photos of street art you see when you visit Paris. Then this account will grow on its own with very little maintenance. You do need to curate some good content, and post some original stuff.
@@liamsjr3726 Many artists don't like this idea, because it's not directly about their art. But growing the niche you are in, isn't a bad idea either.
Very educating ! Very interesting!
Thanks for watching!
This was very enlightening. Thank you 😍
Hi Tatiana, Glad it was helpful! This month I will make another interview to interesting professionals in art. See you soon!
Thank you, in combination with other more specific growth videos this is the perfect long term strategy for growing on social media😇🤗🤗
Social media is important, website is essential too. If you have a website, consider using SEO strategies to boost your influence.
I thought I could be a lazy artist focusing on just my art…all right…lessons learned…thanks!
Very helpful, especially #6. Do you recommend adding a photo from an art exhibition?
Fabulous yet again! Thanks so much and best wishes to you!!!! 🙏😊
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ Thanks for your message! I will be making more videos, see you around!
This is such a quality video. Thank you for this!! 💖
Thanks for dropping by!
I love love love your approach to this
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ Jen, thanks for your message!
I really needed to hear all of this ❤️ thank you
😄 Glad to hear it!
Hello again!
Great points! While watching the video I just jotted down some thoughts:
I just wanted to say that the fastest way to grow your art on social media at the moment is tiktok.
All excellent advice! Thank you so much for this video. Hopefully taking this advice to heart will help my growth.
Thank you for being on youtube, love your videos! Greetings from Sweden 🎨
Hi Konstnär, greetings from frozen Beijing!
i have this issue. went to bed with 200 followers and today i woke up with 152. i think insta is deleting my followers.
Thank you so much mam,,,very inspiring!
thank u so much for this video really opened up a new perspective on me. good night
I love to listen to these videos while I’m painting. thank you this is a lot of great content 💖
Thanks for your message!
Ohhhh you have English version channel!!
I like your very gentle way of speaking and soft voice make me feel comfortable :)
I really enjoy my time to learn English speaking and art knowledge from you!
You are totally deserve more fans.
Thank you again 💕
Hi Jelly, nice to see you here too!
you have to be patient
I also see art channels using many mediums and has grown their channel, I don't know what is the formula
I'm trying but...nope. still tiny. 😂😂😂
Always great information. Keep doing your thing 👌
Thank you! Will do!
I love your channel sooooo much!!! Thank you so much for ur help
Really appreciate you for so much well researched and comprehensive information on the topic.
True it’s not meant to be sometimes
@@VeryPrivateGallery really appreciate your positive outlook on it. Thank you!
“A jack of all trades is a master at none , but often times better than a master of one”
Full quote 🤗
THANK YOU! I prefer being myself, happy and healthy doing different things, than being depressed by doing one. I think my versality is special and valuable. I´m a better teacher because of this. Maybe art world didn´t recognize this, but I do now!
love your posts.
Amazing tips thank you
The struggle is real in this art space. 😅
not me thinking why i am not getting more followers with my 3 posts 👁👅👁 ty for this!!
I'm completely off Instagram right now 😳. I feel that I can use my time in other things like learning about art on this channel.
If you use IG as a marketing tool instead of social media, it’s alright. Your time invested will eventually return as sales.
Thank you for this great advice!
This content is very helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This is really helpful thank you!
👋 thanks!
This is very helpful thank you 🙏
Thank you for your advise! I’m planning on an art account and I’ll consider these points for sure!!
How is it going? Have you started out on Instagram?

I'm enjoying a lot your channel and content, thanks a lot for sharing and for the effort.
Great information, thank you❣️
Glad it was helpful!
What do you think of Fine Art America?
God your gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your information I’m a artist I’m going to affect millions of people with my work!
That was awesome! So conscious ! So good info , responsive ! 🙌🙌Had figure most of 5hose lately ! You go farther to really underline very imp aspects! Thanks lots ! Just suggestions a bit of Visuals.. share snapshots! , like that!, 🙌🌺
Glad it was helpful!😇
Hmmmmmm? I am thinking 2021 and the future for us Artists & Photographers is ONLINE MARKETING; LIKE FROM THE ARTIST STUDIO; TO THE COLLECTOR’S WALLS, which leaves us more time for Creating.
It was really helpful. Thank you
Love your profile photo!
Good job girl!
Thankyou this video motivated me to keep working and then people will notice my art😅😢❤
After hearing about it l am going to clean up my Facebook!
This is great! Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
May be I would just make 4 different profiles for all categories of artwork I make. 🤔
You can make one profile and try to grow until your goal, like 5000 or 10,000 following. Then you start a second profile so you are not overloaded with lots of work.
Social media is a drain. Real artists should avoid it.
It’s like when you live in a big city, you can get jobs easier than if you are in small town. The size of the city is the size of your niche.
