Yes you are. Most trainees bring the normal sized black school subject notebooks. That way they can have their addresses in it and use the same notebook to write letters home to their families. Bring stamps and envelopes as well that way you don’t have to purchase them when you arrive. Put all of that in a ziplock bag, it’s easier to keep up with.

If you aren’t comfortable wearing one when you get to BCT that’s fine, wear what works for you. Your situation is understandable. Tampons in my opinion are the better option, however not mandatory.

It currently isn't that noticeable unless I have my curly hair out of a bun, will I have to get that done before I go to basic or when I go to basic will there be someone who will dye my hair all one color if they see it?
Natural highlights are authorized. During BCT your hair will remain in a bun or in another authorized hairstyle i.e braids/cornrows. If your drill sergeant sees your colored hair as a violation of AR-670-1 ( regulation on wear and appearance of the uniform/grooming standards) you will be able to dye it.
i have eczema, i know you said no “smell good” hygiene products. but the body wash i use for my eczema, it’s specifically for eczema but it has a oatmeal sent to it. would i be able to bring it ?
My shampoo is a body wash and face wash all combined. (Baby Cetaphil (2 in 1 body and shampoo) It does have a mild scent but it’s shampoo. Is it possible to find unscented shampoo?
You can if you’d like but make sure they are sealed and solid black is the color I recommend. If it’s just out you’ll have to pack it away because it may be “contaminated”. However, the army will provide mask to you.
Hi I wanted to know if grey, navy blue and beige is okay for the underwear’s I ordered neutral colors. I leave in 2 weeks i don’t want to carry apparel that may not be permitted. Same for sports bras.
It’s really going to boil down to your DS. I’d say go with the beige and navy blue. The military actually issues tan/beige sports bras and they recently started issuing black. The underwear colors are usually white or black, but I had grey is basic and my Drills didn’t care.

I’m not a DS at Fort Leonard wood so I can’t speak for their process. You should be able to bring your own stamps and envelopes. Usually shower shoes are purchased during your reception. I would bring travel size products in the event you can’t have the full size you won’t waste as much product/money.

No ma’am. You will never have time to blow dry or flat iron your hair. Even if you did, with the intensity of the workouts and training it wouldn’t last long.
I'm leaving for LWOOD on the 31st. Other than tampons, are there any other toiletries that we can take from our personal bag? I bought moleskin, band-aids, chapstick, etc. Seems like a waste of money to purchase things at the PX when you've bought them at home when they don't break regulation. Having "ethnic" hair...I don't exactly trust for the PX to have appropriate brushes and combs for my hair.
Everything you’ve mentioned is necessary. Moleskin and chapstick will come in handy during rucks especially with the weather changing. True, the shopette will not have the products needed to maintain ethnic hair. They do sell gel, however none that will “hold”. If I were you I’d bring the necessary items for your hair (hair ties, gel, comb, brush, scarf, bobby pins, etc…) At the end of the day it will be up to your DS if you can keep them or not. However it’s better to have them and they possibly say yes, then not to have them and then struggle to keep your hair in regulation. Most females came with their hair already braided and around week 4 they had another trainee re-braid/cornrow it.

You will need a copy of your birth certificate on file as well as your children if you have custody. It’s a supporting document needed to receive entitlements for your dependents i.e spouse/children. It’s better to have it when u come than need it once u start training. It’ll be harder to reach back home and have someone send it due to not having your phone at all times
Proof that they are your actual dependent, ssn, ID, birth certificate etc…Your recruiter should give you specifics before you ship. There’s a packet you will complete.
Sorry for the delayed response I thought I answered it. You can get birth control in BCT. I’m not sure how the depo shot works, but I know trainees do receive birth control pills.

The two pair of pants/bottoms should be enough. I would have more than two shirts however(maybe 4). They should not take up much room at all if packed correctly. Roll them instead of folding them. There are videos on TH-cam. If you’re coming during the winter I would have a jacket/coat as well in place of the third outfit you were going to originally bring.
You could possibly bring a bigger size in your personal belongings. That’s something you would need to express to your drills to see if you would be able to go into your personal bag to re-up on the lotion if not provided at the PX. I broke out during basic training as well due to the change of environment. There is no guarantee you will be able to use the lotion if it is scented. As long as it’s unscented you should be fine.
That’s completely fine. You can braid it up or wear it out, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the head gear and it is neat (use Bobby pins if needed).There is a regulation you can Google (Army Regulation 670-1) it goes into detail about grooming standards that are allowed and not allowed.
