    What power and length rods are you using on your spinning gear? They look to be mediums?

    • @KambotroutFishing
      @KambotroutFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I generally recommend medium heavy. You can get away with medium power in open water in most cases, but I’ve seen more than one rod snap on hooksets or headshakes from snakehead, especially in heavy grass and pads.
      For length, I generally prefer 6’6” at a minimum and prefer 7’ - 7’5”

    Can northern snakeheads drown themselves if they get stuck in the weeds and grass when you hook them Kambotrout Fishing?

    • @KambotroutFishing
      @KambotroutFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think so. Maybe if they were to wrap themselves and break off in the structure and then not be able to surface, but they’re such escape artists that I really doubt they would happen.

    Any tips for the hard bite areas like Howard County, MD where they ARE here but they don't hardly ever wanna bite? Seems like 95% of the time they are NOT in the mood.

    • @KambotroutFishing
      @KambotroutFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What have you been using for them so far, and with what kind of presentations?
      Also, next time someone claims that snakehead are voracious killers who slaughter anything in their path just for fun, remember your experience ;)

    • @lungimsam
      @lungimsam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KambotroutFishing Topwater frogs, mice, spinnerbaits, chatter baits. I have tried all kinds of topwater presentations such as slow twitch, fast retrieve, foot long glides with twitches, popping it all the way back, you name it. Sometimes I see them come up to it and put their snout up against it but cannot get them to bite. These are not the ultra-agressive, chase-it-down, snakeheads of 2019 when I first started fishing them. These are bashful, overly cautious fish now. Violent blowups don't seem to happen anymore for me in my territory except maybe once a year. Sometimes they will run off with the frog just in the tip of their mouth and then you can't set the hook because they only carry it away with the tip of the frog in their teeth. Time of day does not seem to matter. I can't figure out the conditions that make them more aggressive. Sometimes I literally have to sink a mouse on top of their head to get them to strike, but a lot of times they still just move away, uninterested.

      @@lungimsam snakeheads are pretty smart fishes! I had one when I was a kid in my aquarium did catch him once wit a hook! Once in a while I tryed it again didn't bite again he was interested touched snapped the bait a bit it was starring at it but very coutious they definitely remember the hooks ! He still was eating snapping my finger in general not coutious but if they see a hook immediately knew something is not right odd.

    Superb catches.. ! I have a suggestion for you.. if your releasing back the fish especially from fry balls and you don't want to hurt yourself 😄 and the fish, you must cover the eyes of fish with some wet algae or a small cotton cloth piece or any other opaque stuff which sticks to its eyes and so that its eyes are covered.. I will assure you that the fish will not move a bit it will almost go into comma it's my personal experience.. and you can take as many selfies with it..

    I’ve been there not recording. I’ve never seen a fry ball.

    • @KambotroutFishing
      @KambotroutFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They’re difficult to distinguish from small minnows when you first see them, but over time, you come to recognize small differences. One is that a fry ball will need to either stay at the surface or surface every 10-20 seconds, whereas a minnow school will go down and stay down if spooked.
