When I'm teaching or learning something I'm always struck by how many want to just "show off" their knowledge and how few really teach/guide those who want to learn. You put these in a space where people can grab, relate and learn and that's the best compliment I can give a learning guide. Right on man, keep it going.
Right with you there. I agree 100% passion for teaching and not showing off here is what always brings me to PIXimperfect every time, even when I'm not looking to learn something new his love for sharing knowledge is compelling. ❤️
No, he just repeats the same thing 3-4 times in a row just with a different camera shot, which is why this video is 42 minutes. We understood multiplication the first time.
Haven’t used Photoshop for 20+ years but recently got back into it for some stuff I’m working on. Your content is by far some of the best education material I’ve come across on TH-cam, thanks for putting everything together!
This is one of the best videos you've ever produced. I don't know if this knowledge exists somewhere else, but if it does I've never seen it presented this way. Thank you so much 👏
Dear Sir, i have watch almost all of your videos, and i cannot express my thankfulness and admiration of what you do for me,dare i say -US! You are absolutely one of a kind ! There is no other like you ! Thank you for the incredible tutorials ,they are straight to the point, nothing useless ,no distractions,no nothing... Just pure knowledge ! Keep up the incredible work ! You are the best teacher I've ever had, I'm so grateful and thankful. For real, you make Photoshop a simple program that everyone can use. Thank you so much for doing all this videos!!
Talking about the math helped me understand this. Thank you. Most people say "you don't need to know this" it's literally the only way I can learn these things since it's all mathematical
What a phenomenal video - i'll never stop recommending your channel to people looking for tips, tricks, tutorials and overall fantastic information on both Lightroom and Photoshop / Camera Raw. Thanks Unmesh.
the way you explain is simply good. Its complicated at first, but trust me, it's little complicated the second time you watch this tutorial. thanks a lot man.
Thank you SO MUCH for this! There is an ocean of videos and "tutorials" on blend modes that just tell you which one they use, but not why. Finally, I feel like I am beginning to understand how they work.
My brain just blew up. This was such a helpful tutorial!!! And the b/w adjustment layer for Luminosity? Lightbulb moment!! Thank you, thank you, for all that you do for us Photoshop users, Unmesh!! You are the best!
Just for the sarcasm at 2:18 I hit the Like Button even better watching the rest of the video. I genuinely laughed at your snarky comment. You've got an insane amount of Photoshop knowledge, but you're actually funny at times. Thanks for both! 💌
YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER FOUND IN LIFE. I already told you this, but I don't mind repeating it. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great tutorial. I found Divide blend mode very useful for toning my pictures. Lets say you have a black and white portrait. Create a gradient map layer which goes from light yellow (H = 60, S = 20, B = 100, R = 255, G = 255, B = 204) to pure white, set blend mode to Divide and reduce fill. I find the resulting hint of blue very pleasing to the eye. Open the histogram and see what this does to the blue channel by toggling blend layer on and off. Might want to add constrast a bit.
I have been using Photoshop for many years and this is the first time I have seen such a clear, consistent and practical explanation of blending mods. Thank you
So far this has been my favorite video of yours. I love learning about the science and concepts behind Photoshop, and not just learn the steps to change a picture to something else. Please post more videos like this. Like, what is happening down to the pixel level in terms of color/brightness, etc.
Okay! I've been working with Photoshop since 1999 (v5.5). I'm just on the Color Burn section of your video, and I've already learned something new. I didn't realize that Opacity and Fill had different effects. That's mind-blowing!
So you’re my photoshop god, you have replaced all other tutorial channels, I was going to make myself a playlist of videos to refer to but you’ve made it easy, it’s just your channel! Thank you 🙏🏼
What a great teacher! I've read some literature about blend modes before but this video gives me a whole new way of understanding. Watch this video, take notes on the essentials, read such literature again. Then come back to this video and re-appreciate what is in there. It is a beginning, not an end of learning blend modes.

I've been waiting a long time for a detailed explanation for all the blend modes! Thanks! By the way, a good use for subtraction is to remove some gradients, such as removing light pollution if you do things like astrophotography.
