Very nicely done. So laid back, like an after midnight fm radio station would play for late night lovers. I’ve heard it done differently way back in summer 1972 at a Stan Kenton week long clinic where the band would play for us twice a day. Their interpretation of this classic started quietly but ended up rip-roaring with the trumpets an octave up and loud, then ending back at quiet. And Kenton had a great band, as always, with people like Willie Maiden, Jay Saunders, Dick Shearer, and a very young Peter Erskine. Terrific week!

Same ! But in the 60's... in France, this masterpiece was a well known radio theme introducing a jazz program... as a kid, I heard it every evening, playing cars on the ground... feels quite and confy !
I don' know about you guys, but I could listen to these guys all night. I do have get some rest. You all are the greatest. That is all that I can say.. kEEP UP PLAYING THE GREAT jazz cLASICS!! lOVE YOU ALL!!
Such a super velvet-smooth arrangement of this great Hefti tune. What an innovative use of the plunger mute! Very cool. James--love your guitar solo. Very laid back. The swing chorus section--awesome. I just love the band. You guys would provide a very good excuse to travel from the state of Washington to Cologne. Thanks so much for this.
Absolutely Heaven! All I need is a 64’ Pontiac GTO and a sigh of relief to go with this legendary piece. Peace ✌️
😁...and sunglasses...👍
I remember it about 1965 when it was the Sync tune for BBC Radio News at night with Ray Moore.
Became so popular they had to play the full length !

Brilliant orchestra, capturing the sounds of Neil Hefti and the 60 s.
Thank you, Mary!
I'm feeling very nostalgic right now.. this music takes me back to my youth in the 1950's.. watching old black and white movies on television

Must mention Bobby Troups name who wrote the lyrics to Girl Talk. He had a very interesting career path
Lovely ! ( and best of luck to the legend that is John Goldsby, who is soon to retire, I believe)
Thank you! You are right. John will retire at the end of 2024....
Bobby Troup is smiling somewhere between Route 66 and the cloud just over the horizon

Urge to dance. Thank you!
Just dance, Ricardo!
Pros
Really love this version , do I have any chance to buy this chart ?
Hi Kos! Please contact the arranger directly!
Any way I could play with this group?
From where do you watch us?
Bwap no buano
Wdr butchered this nice classic.
Refer to original album
It's a new arrangement, artistic freedom still exists, doesn't it?
played too germanic....
Horrible arrangement
Just me, or did the time and feel seem uncertain during this performance? Uncharacteristic of WDR, but I couldn’t shake my discomfort while listening.
