I’m not even asexual and hear those sentences makes me anxious TOO lol. Bisexual here, just feel awkward when people want to randomly blurt out about their sexual experiences like can you not? It’s so cringy to me if we were having a normal conversation and the conversation switches to sex that fast like calm down haha
All I want is a boyfriend that feels like a best friend that is always there for me. Why does there have to be so much pressure on having sex with someone? When you explain to people that you're asexual they either give you a weird look or say "oh so you don't like anyone." I wish more people were understanding smh
Person: how do you know you're ace? Ace: what? Person: if you've never 'done the do', how do you know you don't like it? Ace: well, I've never been stabbed, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like that...
I have a friend that was assexual until a week ago, i met her 2 weeks ago and she hadn't told me her sexuality or what a assexual was until last week, that's why i came here. Don't blame peaplo who makes this questions, some times hapeens, peaplo change sexuality.
Something people need to get into their head already. Asexual: NO *SEXUAL* ATTRACTION. Aromantic: NO *ROMANTIC* ATTRACTION. They are both perfectly normal, but it’s *absolutely* disrespectful to say asexual people don’t want to date or want a significant other.
@@kaynaten Then you're one of the ones who may fit the blanket description put up here and that's ok. It's just that romantics are miffed at being painted with the same brush because it's hard for them to find a romantic partnership with the uneven sexual attraction at play, and equating them with aromantics muddies the waters even further.
They aren't normal. They happen and deserve respect - but they are not the norm. Just like people who are born with no arms are not normal, but deserve equal respect.
My parents: "NO BOYS, stay away from boys! If you so much as mention a boy's name, we're gonna interrogate the hell out of you. But we don't want you to be a lesbian either. If you ever start dating, we're all gonna die." Me: "Okay," *is ace* My parents: "NO, NOT LIKE THAT!"
I'm demi so I'm basically in the middle of the spectrum and that's a great analogy. I relate to it and feel it's accurate, but also being a sexual person, I can see how non-aces will imagine this scenario and I think it gets the point across perfectly.
I just imagined myself saying -I don't care for door knobs and being answered: -Really? are you sure you're not into window glass? hey, nothing wrong with being Glay... I think that can be stressful... thank you for the great example... PS I know I sound sarcastic, but seriously, I'm not...
I knew a girl who was asexual and aromantic. She was cool, she never got involded in drama, liked to play video games, she mostly stuck to herself and a few close friends but she clearly wasnt lonely. She never wore make up or liked shopping. was a straight A student and became a doctor. I have a lot of respect for her as a person even though we weren't that close. I never met anyone quite like her.
Bruh, minus the doctor bit, you literally just described me to a T 😂😂😂. Lol, sorry for the random comment, I just felt super called out in a good way, it felt validating 😝. Thanks so much for appreciating different kinds of people, and I'm glad you got to know such a cool person, lol, even if just a little bit 😉😜
Can anyone of you tell me how to come out as a asexsual ? I really want to become asexsual person...i want to get rid of my Pornography Addiction. I dont want pornography in my brain... PLEASE, TELL ME. I REALLY WANT TO BE ASEXSUAL.
@@ariffitrie8839 unfortunately being asexual may not prevent you from having sexual thoughts. There are some Asexuals who dont have sex but still masturbate and some even still enjoy porn. Other asexuals may even have sex with a partner on occasion but they just don't enjoy it as much as their partner would. As for being an asexual, I dont belive there are a lot of cases for choosing to be asexual. Like if somone were to ask me how to become gay I would probably not have an answer, I just discovered one day that I perfer men and that was pretty much how that went. If you are worried that sexual thoughts are damaging your life you may need to seek psychological help. Doctors may just tell you to practice controling your urgers with meditation or scheduleing masturbation time, so that you can associate reliving yourself with an appropriate time and place. If those things don't help they may prescribe medication. Honestly getting professional psychological help has saved me in so many ways, I feel it will likely be the best solution.
@@jejo4911 Nah she was just really worried about me in high school, since she was always anxious about her grandkids going through teenage pregnancy :'D
Happened to me... i was honestly a bit disappointed as my mom is mostly a very open-minded person. I guess that is why videos like this are important, to show people what being ace means~ anyways, big hugs to everyone:)
Play video games, it’s the next best thing to do in bed in the dark. The best one being sleeping obviously, that’s what beds are made for, what could be better to do in bed than what they quite literally made for? 😏
Is it weird that im fascinated by porn but not want to experience it?like,my friends say that if it was the end of the world they would like to have sex i would like to eat cake
EVERYONE FUCKING DOES THIS, I came put as Ace and my brother looked at me like I didnt know what I was talking about he said so you know that means you reproduce on your own TF
Thank you for this video. I’m 39 years old and have lived my entire life thinking that there must be something wrong with me, that somehow I must be broken. You making this video made me almost cry.
I'm really glad people are talking about it more. I used to wonder if I was when I was in college but just went with "maybe I'm Bi"... Cut to 10 years later I'm watching youtube thinking "yes! this is totally what I am! And there are others just like me"
Ok everyone, for who's not asexual Just because I said someone is cute doesn't mean I want to duck them or be with them, being asexual doesn't make me blind
F A C T S As an Omni Oriented Aroace, If I compliment someone, That doesn't mean i want to have shag them or date them. I just like to compliment someone or even be friends with them.
I think learning about the difference between aesthetic attraction and sexual attraction helps a lot in this regard; learning about the differences between those two actually helped me realize my own asexuality.
When I told my mom I was Asexual she basically just said "Of course you aren't yet, that comes later. You just wait" and now here I am years later and I'm still asexual
@@Pedrosa2541 Sorry if it came of defensive, it wasn't intended and in my experience it is never a good idea to share your age and sexual history to strangers on the internet :)
Yeah, no offense to the aroace community, but it sucks that romanticaces get forgotten about even more. I'm happy to have a romantic relationship, I just don't want to have sex, nor have I had a sexual attraction to anyone lol. I
I actually am aroace and I think its super annoying too that asexuality is represented soo little that maybe half (I don't know the statistics) of the community is forgotten or has some kind of misinformation about it.
I'm an aroace but I completely agree with you, people need to understand that being ace doesn't mean you ultimately can't date, some people still want dating but don't want to have it. As for me- I don't feel comfortable with dating or affection in general, so imma just stay and cuddle with my bed while sleeping
Okay PSA to non ace people: Just because I make a sex joke doesn’t mean I’ve evolved into a horny monster and shed my asexual shell. It doesn’t work like that-
The thing I struggle with the most is the fact that we live in a hyper-sexual society. Everything is sexualised. I'm not saying it's bad to be sex positive, it's just difficult to accept yourself when everything around you is supposedly linked or should lead to sex. It feels suffocating.
ApothisIII there are more of us than ever and it’s not because we live in a certain society. It’s because of advances in technology. And everyone has the desire to reproduce, it’s just human nature
the only problem I have your statement is everyone having the desire to reproduce. While it is a common desire, there are some who just dont feel that way, muself included. There's more to life than just refueling the population. Edit also considering people have different view points I feel the argument: "its just human nature" is a tad subjective. You cant just assume everone has the same world view as yourself. Please note I have nothing against peopl who sexually inclined, that lifestyle just doesnt interest me.
I had a sneaking feeling I've been an asexual even as a teen. I just wish I was told about that term and learned about it at the time. I still remember hearing students at my school engage in talks about sex, and it's very clear some of them were very interested in those discussions and would've had the same sexual attraction for it. For me, I personally never saw why people liked the idea of having sex and found it repulsive. I really did believe that maybe I'll eventually have a change in heart once I become an adult. Nope. I'm glad to know there's other people in this world like me and it's not that strange after all.
even when i was in primary school i had this weird yet certainty that i would never like a person in a romantic or sexual way. like i was VERY sure of it. it felt so weird to *KNOW* that at such early age. but yeah, i guess i always knew it. it was a huge relieved to learned it was an actual sexual orientation.
“You’re not asexual, you had a crush on somebody!" Me: ”Doesn’t mean I want to screw them." Not everything has to be about sexual attraction. To me, asexual literally means little to no sexual (key word) attractions to anyone. However that doesn’t stop me from having romantic feelings for them.
Hiya, I've currently started dating am asexual who's still figuring himself out - I'm wondering if you could help me understand how exclusively romantic attraction works? Like, what differentiates a romantic crush from a friend?
@@asullivan677 for me personally, my romantic feelings tend to be quite strong when i have a crush on someone, and it also takes me a lot to have a crush on someone. i care about my friends and physical affection is one of my love languages, but its stays platonic. i think the easy way to differentiate platonic vs romantic is if u feel a strong romantic attraction to a person and wanting/craving that person to feel the same towards you. this kind of just feels like word vomit but i hope it helped ^^
Straight up facts. People keep mixing being aromatic and being asexual. Like bro the meaning is kinda in the name. I’ve personally never had a crush but yeah.
I am not even an adult yet, and I can only imagine how hard it will be to find a partner who doesn't need ''The thing''. This is why you need to make it clear; I know it's awkward, but you are saving yourself from a lot of trouble.
@@anon2916 There are rare cases tho. It's possible to find a hetero person or bi, lesbian, gay that understands the risks of sex and is okay with not doing it
bruh i watched a video that was like “how long would you wait for your romantic partner to do ‘it’ with you” and majority said less than a year.. and i’m like “how about never? 😃”
I’m asexual and one thing I don’t understand.... Why is the world so obsessed with sex when we could take all that energy to MAKE DRAGONS?!!! (But all-round generally good video) Edit: I didn’t think I actually had to say this but let me specify, this is a JOKE. I know not everyone is obsessed with sex. If you enjoy sex, all power to you, I just want dragons because dragons (1k likes thank you so much)
I am Ace and I like having sex with myself, even if I'm in a relationship. I sometimes find that more rewarding than the relationship. So I guess you could say that I am an active Ace.
YEP. Think of it like this: imagine your biggest celebrity crush. If you think they're hot= it's aesthetic attractions, If you wish you were in a relationship with them = romantic attraction, and if you want to f**k them it's sexual attraction. For me I'm aesthetically attracted to my celeb crush all day long, but if given the opportunity I wouldn't sleep with him.

I've always hated sex scenes in movies, even kissing grossed me out, while my friends were practically drooling over this stuff. I honestly thought that something was wrong with me. When all of my friends got themselves girlfriends or boyfriends, I started feeling like an alien. I even tried to force myself to like a guy, but a mere thought of having a relationship terrified me. Now I finally know who I am and why am I like this and I'm binge-watching different videos about aces! I was happy as hell when I found out that there's a whole community of ppl like me💜
I have been accused of "not being sex positive" for not liking or understanding the need for sex scenes in films. Even non-porn is unrealistic too. Are there really women who have orgasms standing up with barely any prior stimulation ? Seems unlikely.

The amount of people who have taken my asexuality as a challenge, or assumed it’s something that they can fix is ridiculous! Some things to know about asexuality (anyone can read this, including asexuals who may not know everything about asexuality/may have common misconceptions) One thing that's important to know upfront about asexuality is that asexuality is about our attraction to others, not our action. We can be asexual and still have sex. Not all of us are sex-repulsed (sex-repulsed means feeling disgusted at the idea of YOU experiencing sex and NOT wanting to engage in sex yourself), so those that aren't sex-repulsed can have sexual relations and for plenty of reasons such as: wanting to pleasure the other person(s) in the relationship (who may or not be allosexual! Allosexual means experiencing sexual attraction at an average rate/allosexual is anyone who isn't asexual), wanting to pleasure themselves (asexuals, as you know, aren't sexually attracted to people but they may enjoy the 'feeling' of sex itself), are just curious about how sex feels and are okay with having sex with people etc. Most people seem to think asexuals are “just scared of sex” and are completely unaware/oblivious to when someone finds them attractive which is so untrue and hurtful to think because it's a stereotype that doesn't define all of us. Asexuals, again, are not defined by their actions but by their attraction just like any other orientation and the same goes for aromantics! (Example: aromantics who are romance-repulsed wish to NOT engage in activities that are typically considered romantic. Aromantics who aren't romance-repulsed may wish to do activities that are typically considered romantic) By the way: Yes, asexuals can be fully capable of telling if someone's "attractive". We may not feel sexual attraction but we're not blind. Aesthetic attraction is a thing as well so it's important to take that into account. I'm sorry this is super long. I would make it shorter to read but I'd have to exclude clarifications which are important for, you know, clarifying lol Overall, I hope this was educational. Thanks for reading to the end! (Jk this isn't the end, I'mma just include some helpful terms related to asexuality- you don't have to read this next part although it is also very educational and may help you better understand yourself and others) Descriptors (I include the ones that are most helpful for conversations about how you feel about sex yourself and seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity) Note: If you switch the term, 'sex/sexual' with 'romance/romantic', it can apply to how you feel about romance yourself and seeing romance in media/when other people discuss or show romantic activity. Both asexuals/aromantics and allosexuals/alloromantics can use these descriptors. Sex-repulsed = feeling disgusted towards experiencing sex personally Sex-indifferent = feeling indifferent towards experiencing sex personally Sex-favorable = feeling glad towards experiencing sex personally Sex-negative = feeling disgusted towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity Sex-neutral = feeling indifferent towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity Sex-positive = feeling glad towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity This means you can totally be sex-repulsed and sex-neutral, as in: you may not want to experience sex for yourself although you're indifferent to seeing it in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity. Regardless of whether or not you're sex-repulsed, you are supportive of people who are sex-indifferent or sex-favorable (or should be supportive, anyway), as in: you may not want to experience sex for yourself although you're happy for anyone else who does want to experience sex for themselves! You can be a sex-repulsed asexual/allosexual and be happy for friends who do want to have sex (:
My guy friends:"It WILL happen someday don't worry." Me:"No it won't,I don't like it at all. It's disgusting!" My guy friends"That's what you say now..." *Me wanting to throw myself at a wall*
It would be cool if you talked about this. Not your own personal experience if you don't want to, but just about asexuality in general and how it's not talked about enough.
Yeesssh. I'm not an asexual but I think people should stop thinking the world revolves around it. Like its literally one tiny thing that people don't feel and then everyone is just thinking you're a disorder. By the way if anyone is rude to you for your sexuality just answer dogs don't feel guilt when they do bad things.
Being an asexual person, I commonly get treated like I'm broken, but I'm just a normal person trying to live my life happily. Just because I don't feel the want or need for sex doesn't mean I can't have a fulfilling life.
I never thought I'd say this, but I have never felt more confused about my sexual identity until now. I've always thought of myself as a straight dude, but I've never wanted to have sex with anybody. I've just wanted to give it a chance only after I get married. I notice that I am attracted to sexual things, but I've never taken any action towards pursuing any sort of sexual contact whatsoever because I don't want that. So would that be celibacy or what? (I am so confused)
There's actually a word for that feeling! It's autochorissexual (disconnection between oneself and sexual target/object of arousal) if you ever want to look deeper into it ^-^
@@nibwhipdragon omg that's awful I hope you're alright!! It's 100% your choice if you want kids or not it's your choice what you do with your body so please don't let what he said get to you❤
I remember telling a boy friend that liked me why I didn't like him or anyone else, that I was ace and he was like "that is not normal. You need to be cured of this". With the world driven by sexual urges, 99% of people simply can't grasp how you can't possibly feel anything.
I made up this metaphor for my own asexuality for my friend, who was struggling to understand what I meant. I said ‘for example, imagine stepping on a snail barefooted. It’s gross, right? No one in their right mind would willingly do that.’ Of course, she agreed. I continued ‘that’s how I see sex- or, in fact- any intense physical reaction at all. It disgusts me and yet everyone I know does it. Everywhere I look people are stepping on snails, their foot covered in snail mucus, and they seem to have the best time in world. It doesn’t make sense.’ I also applied this metaphor to the popular question ‘can you tell if people are attractive?’ I answered ‘I could find a snail with the prettiest shell in the world...but I still wouldn’t step on it. Because that’s gross.’ Edit: I just want to add that this is about my own feelings and I know that this is not the defining term for asexuality. Asexuals mostly aren’t even disgusted by sex (as the video explains) but this is how I feel. Asexuality has its own umbrella and making metaphors for how you feel can be a great way of helping people you know understand how you feel.
Louie V. Baby I was using the metaphor more to explain my sexuality personally, I know thats not how everyone feels. All I’m saying is that if someone doesn’t understand how you feel, using metaphors similar to the situation can help them understand.
Louie V. Baby I apologise for using the phrase ‘metaphor for asexuality’ in the beginning of my comment, as I can see how that would be viewed as an umbrella term. I’m going to edit it now.
" stepping on a snail barefooted" - NOT to me !!! "that’s how I see sex- or, in fact- any intense physical reaction at all. " - Nero-psyho-disfunction of neiro-net of sex instinct - or it's puritans complex ? it's isn't human. Degenerate. Becouse sexuality is - huge and one of definings part of human psyhology.
I know I’m late, but how do you know if you’re ace? What is sexual attraction? How do I know what sexual attraction is like if I’ve never banged anyone? (This is a genuine question pls don’t laugh)
@@smileyface81mc77 Good question! Here's what I know! There's a difference between the feeling of romantic affection and the feeling physical desire. You can want to be with some one romantically without feeling the physical aspect of it, and vice versa. They tie into each other a lot for the average non-ace, but sexual desire does not equal romantic feelings or affection. I consider myself to be grey-ace, and to my understanding, sexual attraction is (pardon in advance for being gross) a touch hunger surrounding genital areas... Kind of like a craving but for a person and their physicality? Being Ace or not being ace isn't wrong or bad, they're just different. Your experience and feelings are gonna different from anyone else, and if the asexual label serves you and feels true to you, then use it. There's a pretty big Ace community on Reddit if you wanted to meet other ace people and learn more.
I would literally teach my health class about the LGBTQA community and just like have a unit on it. Then I'd be so happy for all the people who learned something and maybe even found out they're LGBTQA.

Bluemiles UwU see, theres different types of relationships. sure you'll never have a boyfriend/girlfriend. but you still have other relationships, with family and friends which, though im not aro, i preffer. but i get where ur coming from, im asexual and i can kind of relate.
I've never found being touched physically pleasurable but I hate how people only seem to be the most emotionally intimate with people they're having sex with. In that sense, being asexual can be kind of lonely at times. I wish people held friendship in the same regard they do romantic relationships but its just not how our society works.
I feel for you but I don't really think it's a society thing. It's just a different feeling when your sexual with someone you have strong feelings for. A different level of intimacy. But there are so many people who truly love their friends
KiKi 1000 it is a society thing, sex isn’t the highest form of intimacy you can have with someone. I would say in certain circumstances that’s reserved for family, emotional intimacy can be had with friends family and partners. sexual intimacy is a different kind of intimacy that isn’t any greater than emotional intimacy but society often values it more. But they are in fact different
yooo this is a mood like it’s lonely in the sense that if you don’t know any aromantic asexuals, all your friends will be putting their romantic relationships first because it’s just commonly valued more than platonic relationships (I can understand why but it still sucks). It’s just a life doomed for constant third-wheeling lmao
Yeah constant third wheel pretty much describes it... Like people don't structure their lives around friendships the way they do around sex. Look up an essay called Against the Couple Form. It explains the social and specifically Patriarchal reasons for this, granted not from an ace perspective, but it definately applies to us.
Also as long as we're complaining who else has been called a prude because they're not dying to talk about sex? I'm not sex negative I just am genuinely not interested in the mechanics of it.
I'm demisexual and It's so weird when someone says "omg that guy is so cute I would totally go out with him" I just...don't understand how people can fall in love like that-
It should be known that as asexuals, we can still tell if a person is hot. The thing is we don't feel any sexual attraction towards them, but may understand why other people would. We can identify beauty. But this might not go for all asexual people. And, for me at least, it is very much possible to fall in love with someone, just not romantically. I feel intense platonic love towards quite a few people but don't feel any sort of attraction towards them. Also you can fall in love with a lot of things, not just people. For me, music, art, stories, etc. are all different loves of my life and I'm as good as married to them forever. So I guess I'm trying to say that love can happen to anyone; some of us might not want a life partner but might want kids nonetheless and choose single parenthood.
@@atousamas7232 well, like i said its different for everyone. for me, the people i love, i love them in a completely platonic way and dont consider them my partners, of course. im happily single. but there are some people who have partners as well they love romantically but not interested in sexually
For me, I’m perfectly fine with kisses, hugs, and cuddles- but the moment anything gets remotely sexual, I’m like “Haha, no.” I consider myself asexual, and in some ways, a little bit sex repulsed.

But once he touch me i don't feel anything sexually or romantically. At the same time i don't wish him to stop from what he doing... I am expecting romance, sex and all but i didn't get that feel. When Intercourse my mind just go off like depression or thinking about sad memories, or thinking like he just expect lust from me like that my mind goes in a bad way.. I like sex, romance and i am comfortable but i didn't get that lust feel while doing romance or sex.. So now tell me what kind of person am i??
THANK YOU. FINALLY SOMEONE GETS THAT ROMANTIC AND SEXUAL ATTRACTION ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Edit: Holy crap, I’ve never gotten this many likes. Thanks guys!
But how is it different from a "normal" relationship? I get that there is sometimes romance and not usually sex, but it just sounds very normal to me and by no means feels necessary to add another label to the snowflake community.
@@BreezyLavender Lack of sex in a relationship is not normal. Calling asexuals the snowflake community is very rude. It's not celibacy. It's not our choice.

I actually know someone that is quite like that. He's my friend, and he confessed to me he just doesn't get romance at all, though he respects it. He has been going though sexual partners here and there his whole life, and he always makes sure people understand he isn't in for romance. It was actually quite interesting to discuss this with him ad try to imagine things from his viewpoint. He isn't sad at all when some of his partners leave because he isn't attached to them that way, he just misses them in a friendly way because it was fun having them around.
@@batenthusiast7515 Yeah so they can experience sexual attraction, but not romantic attraction. And (not saying you thought this, but it's a common misconception) that doesn't make them heartless promiscuous people with trust issues. They still really care about their sexual partners, and it sucks for them that they can't reciprocate the romantic feelings their partners may have for them.
Wow, there are a lot of different people ... a lot to learn. I believe everyone has his own orientation, we just put them in categories based on similarity, but every human is fairly a rare case
@@95kpeople2 Well, it's understandable why we create labels. It's easier to remember and study things that way. But it's a good thing to always ask, everyone even within a same category perceives things in their own unique way. :)

same!! Many of my friends had their first times in the last two years and i feel a bit pressured becouse of this but i try to tell myself that its not that important. And all i really want is a person who loves me and cares about me and is not offended if i'm not in the mood to do sexual things!
Aaaaah my god this comment section is so relateable! I have wanted a deep, understanding, romantic relationship for a long time (I guess since I was small I always would think 'Wow, I can't wait till I'm older so I can that kind of relationship with someone!') and as someone who doesn't want sex I'm wondering if I'll ever find the right person for me. After years of telling myself I had to focus on my studies (and having a completely un-balanced life) I'm starting to try and find someone, bit by bit XD. I have no experience of properly dating someone though and I'm scared about using dating apps XD. I've only recently (in the last 3 months) started learning more about asexuality and I currently think I'm a grey-ace. I'm kind of terrified of getting into a bad relationship and I fear rejection. o.o
I'm not sure if this will give y'all hope, but I'm married and Ace, BUT I just found out I was asexual last month so I'm trying to help my husband understand that just because I don't want sex doesn't mean im not physically attracted to him. I could litterally go the rest of our lives without it and he can't mentally process that lol. I will say that when I told my closest friends, they said everything about me makes so much more sense though and my guy best friends keep reminding me that there's nothing wrong with me.
When I didn't really know the label but for sure didn't want sexual relationships, I went through 3 relationships where 2 of them said "Don't worry~ I'll get that libido trained". The 3rd was just a straight-up jerk calling me a freak. Currently living a very happy, single life. :)
I'm friends with this guy and it's honestly great, it's like we do the things most couples do (aside from the intimacy and things only couples do) but we have that dynamic, we hang out together all the time, give eachother stuff, joke etc. But it's all platonic, and I actually really enjoy having a relationship like that with someone, its pretty ideal for me, we don't even have to officially be dating it's just the dynamic
One thing that's often misunderstood about us is people think we can't get sex. Like we're losers or an incel. Truth is I had a hard time figuring out I was ace, it took until I was 28 and for years, especially while I was in the military I would force myself to have sexual relations and just never could get into it. I was actually pretty well known as a "ladies man" in my squadron because I frequently hooked up, but it was me trying to find someone who made me feel anything. I even ended up getting married. After a divorce and I got out I explored bisexuality for quite a while as well trying to figure out what was wrong with until I finally learned about asexuality by connecting with so many from the LGBT+ community and it all just clicked.
I thought I was hi. Then I was sure I was pan. I questioned demisexuality. Then a friend, another ace from my LGBT support club, told everyone how they figured out their orientation. As they explained what ace was and how they were also aromantic, I started to put the pieces together. I have been able to identify as ace for years. Being ace is just as confusing and frustrating as any other sexuality.
Poor bloke. That sucks! Having to take so long and discover this the hard way. Kids should be taught about this in school and that it's quite okay and nothing to be ashamed of. But good luck with that, seeing as Americans will insist on voting repub... 😫
i really hate the whole "asexual people are just whiny virgins that want to feel special" it's not that i myself am not even a virgin it took a bit to come to the conclusion that i was ace
People often say that I am attracted to animals or inanimate objects because of me not being sexualy attracted to anything and it really annoys me because of it.
I'm sick of being told I haven't found the right person especially by my parents I'm glad I have friends who understand and even have the same My dad somewhat understands but my mum doesn't at all
I'm in the same situation. My parents say that I just need to find the right guy and I'm just like, "But you don't need to have sex to be happy". And then they tell me that sex is what makes your bond and relationship stronger. I know they mean well but I get kind of sick of hearing it. My friends are supportive though. They pretty much had an idea that I was asexual already. My one friend actually guessed that I was and when I asked her if it was normal to be this way she said it was completely fine and that plenty of people are asexual. Someone else I know (who is an adult) told me that she thinks it's great that I'm doing things at my own pace. She said that my views might change, which is fine and they might not, which is fine too. She said that it's good that I'm doing what I want to do, not what society expects of me, which is honestly one of the best things to hear.
Yes! I agree. when I was younger my dad admitted he thought it was odd I had never had a boyfriend. He was even almost ok with the idea that maybe I was gay. Cut to ten years later I admitted I resonated with a sexuality and I got the "you just haven't found the right person". Literally 30 years of disinterest didn't click. Even my close friend thinks its just a phase. I don't care if they beleive me or not. Its really not a big deal in my opinion. Im just glad for myself that more people are talking about it. I used to wonder if I was Bi in college and would think to myself I felt more a sexual. but no one was talking about it back then so I didn't think that was really an "option", but I'm really glad they are now though because I 100% resonate with being on the spectrum of it.
I misread this as "It feels weird to have a crush on ace people" and I was like "I've been there, actually much more pleasant then you'd expect." But then I realised that you were talking about your experience on "the other side of the coin".
I was married for 18 years. My now-ex used to say “ Something is wrong with you. Go fix yourself. Go to counseling, go to the doctor and get put on hormones.“ Which I did. But it didn’t work. Because I was not “broken.” Lack of sex drive is normal for me. Now I worry I’ll never find someone who accepts me as I am w/o expecting sex. I don’t feel it’s fair to date a “sexual” person b/c I’ll never be able to meet their “needs.” I like cuddles, companionship, adventure and would love to share my life w/ someone but I don’t know where to find someone like me who would be ok in a lifelong committed, friendship-type relationship w/o sex. I’m 50 and friends say I’m cute and sexy (seriously??). So I give the “wrong signals.” I attract sexually oriented people. Seven years since my divorce and I’m still alone.
I’ve been in love with my best friend and she’s told me she’s asexual. Thank you for this video. I know where I stand between her and I. But I wish I could just let her in.
Just because she is asexual doesn't mean she cannot or will not love you. Only that she doesn't experience sexual attraction. She will have no desire for sexual relations with you, at least not in the "normal" way others do. It would be purely based on libido, romantic attraction, and desire to please a partner. Regardless of whether or not you take your friendship any farther, educating yourself more on asexuality would definitely make her very happy.
So the next you're playing with yourself, fantasizing about making love with her. Just think how would she if , if she knew what you're doing? Lol JK! Beat it like it owes you money!
Well some asexual still date and have sex. This obviously doesn't mean you can force or pressure her into anything (which sadly "corrective sex aka r*pe, actually happens a lot in the ace community) but just ask her what she's at and what she's comfortable with. Don't treat her like shes emotionless or incapable of affection
Being asexual is so fun, having no one to love someone and still I have alot of friends that think I'm gay, im not, asexual is what I am and I wanna stay like that.
Acephobes are weak, time for yall to catch these hands. I don't understand how it feels to be ace myself because I am bi. In the same vein, I don't understand how it feels to be straight or a lesbian because I can't imagine being attracted to one gender. It isn't anyone's business to tell people how to feel or what to do with their bodies. I will support my ace friends with every fiber of my being
@@nisehimawari4184 yeah no dude I will throw down my best friend is ace and people make her very uncomfortable about it sometimes and I just need to punch someone and hug her. These arms were built for hugs and swingin

I had squishes but I thought that it was romantic when it wasn't I just really value them as wonderful friends. I am proud to be aro ace because at least I don't have to deal with finding the one and being lonely because I'm single, that's the positive of my sexual identity. My friends and family is all I want and need, I can't see myself marrying someone. I just feel nothing it doesn't excites my at all... I hope that you guys could be proud of your sexuality and even if you can't relate with every asexual you're identity is still valid and don't let anyone tell you that it's not true because we all experience this differently!
@Nika Kyoto it's okay I love your story thank you so much for sharing. I just don't understand why you people need sex or a relationship to be happy. Friendship could be just as fulfilling as relationships. I just don't think it's most important thing. It's so weird that sometimes I hope to be in the friend zone. Is that weird? I'm not against being in a relationship or having sex because I don't care, I could end up in a relationship that doesn't change my sexuality. I just want great friends not great sex...
"So you don't feel sexual attraction?" "Yes! Thank you for underst-" "Just wait i know i can turn you on." "Wow i just gave up on our entire frien-/relationship please do never try to reach out again thank you very much."

Some things to know about asexuality (anyone can read this, including asexuals who may not know everything about asexuality/may have common misconceptions)
One thing that's important to know upfront about asexuality is that asexuality is about our attraction to others, not our action.
Aromantics who aren't romance-repulsed may wish to do activities that are typically considered romantic)
By the way: Yes, asexuals can be fully capable of telling if someone's "attractive". We may not feel sexual attraction but we're not blind. Aesthetic attraction is a thing as well so it's important to take that into account.
I'm sorry this is super long. I would make it shorter to read but I'd have to exclude clarifications which are important for, you know, clarifying lol
Overall, I hope this was educational. Thanks for reading to the end!
(Jk this isn't the end, I'mma just include some helpful terms related to asexuality- you don't have to read this next part although it is also very educational and may help you better understand yourself and others)
Descriptors (I include the ones that are most helpful for conversations about how you feel about sex yourself and seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity)
Note: If you switch the term, 'sex/sexual' with 'romance/romantic', it can apply to how you feel about romance yourself and seeing romance in media/when other people discuss or show romantic activity. Both asexuals/aromantics and allosexuals/alloromantics can use these descriptors.
Sex-repulsed = feeling disgusted towards experiencing sex personally
Sex-indifferent = feeling indifferent towards experiencing sex personally
Sex-favorable = feeling glad towards experiencing sex personally
Sex-negative = feeling disgusted towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity
Sex-neutral = feeling indifferent towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity
Sex-positive = feeling glad towards seeing sex in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity
This means you can totally be sex-repulsed and sex-neutral, as in: you may not want to experience sex for yourself although you're indifferent to seeing it in media/when other people discuss or show sexual activity.
Wow. This was super long but helpful

Thank you.
Further, being aromantic doesn't mean you can't have meaningful relationships. It just means that those relationships are of the platonic variety.
I made up this metaphor for my own asexuality for my friend, who was struggling to understand what I meant.
I said ‘for example, imagine stepping on a snail barefooted. It’s gross, right? No one in their right mind would willingly do that.’
Of course, she agreed.
I continued ‘that’s how I see sex- or, in fact- any intense physical reaction at all. It disgusts me and yet everyone I know does it. Everywhere I look people are stepping on snails, their foot covered in snail mucus, and they seem to have the best time in world. It doesn’t make sense.’
I also applied this metaphor to the popular question ‘can you tell if people are attractive?’
I answered ‘I could find a snail with the prettiest shell in the world...but I still wouldn’t step on it. Because that’s gross.’
Edit: I just want to add that this is about my own feelings and I know that this is not the defining term for asexuality. Asexuals mostly aren’t even disgusted by sex (as the video explains) but this is how I feel. Asexuality has its own umbrella and making metaphors for how you feel can be a great way of helping people you know understand how you feel.
According to the vid that's not asexuality .
This is a pretty good metaphor, it gives the jist of being asexual.

When Intercourse my mind just go off like depression or thinking about sad memories, or thinking like he just expect lust from me like that my mind goes in a bad way.. I get satisfied only while i am doing selfsex. I seek help from him like suck my boobs, i do selfsex...
I don't feel i don't need sex or i am not comfortable here like that.
Hope the rest of the points were accurate too! Let us know if there are any inaccuracies :)
@@Psych2go Absolutely spot on. This will be my go-to video when someone asks me about asexuality.
Psych2Go Yep!
When I first heard the test “AsexuaI” thought that meant that they were human beings that didn’t need to reproduce sexually turns out I was wrong in that regard
No, you're very right. I have a clone in my closet because i accidentally cut off a piece of skin and it grew into a new me.
(Um... just to be clear I'm ace but i like joking around with people about how i reproduce like a starfish because aphobes don't know how to handle an ace joking about being ace. But i can see u aren't an aphobe, you just didn't know)
yea that seems to be a common misconception
LOL same here. I thought that too. I guess I listen to my science teacher so much that I assumed what the definition of 'asexual' was. 😂
(Cause y'know, asexual in science means an organism can reproduce without a partner)
Sorry, I just can't get over that fact that I was so wrong when I heard the term. 😂
@Cringe Sponge I think they meant the types of ace... Some cam be asexuals while have crushes but don't feel the sexual attraction... Those who feel like this are Aromatic ace... There is many types... I could wrote them all if you want...
One thing I'd like to add is that it's also possible to be aromantic but not asexual. That's often forgotten.
So (dumb question but) sometimes ppl are sexually attracted just not romantically?
Asian parents praising Asexual kids till their marriages and then fretting and blaming them for the same. It's weird how quick Asian parents change overnight and yet not change ever at all 😂
An Asian myself!
My parents were proud of me for being single until 23, I am 24 and depressed cause they think asexuality doesn't exist
That's sad
Me: I'm asexual.
My classmates: So, you perform mitosis?
Me:...
no
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where did that even come from
"If I could, me and my one hundred clones army would be killing you all
So think for yourself"
Some dreams are just dreams
@Ramp Shark why did this make me laugh more than the actual joke 💀
Me: maybeee
I can relate heavily to this. Many of my friends are sex driven. I want something more from life and I feel alone
I'm asexual and I've wanted a romantic relationship for years and I've never been able to get into one. I wish I was aromantic too.
My ex once told me "I could straighten you out 😉". He was so disrespectful about my Asexuality.
Thank god he is your EX, cause T-O-X-I-C, we don’t need his bs
When I didn't really know the label but for sure didn't want sexual relationships, I went through 3 relationships where 2 of them said "Don't worry~ I'll get that libido trained". The 3rd was just a straight-up jerk calling me a freak.
Currently living a very happy, single life. :)
The quickest way to make an ace person never want to talk to you ever again. Now you just gross us out, man.
Ewww I'll be like bitch leavee
Why would u date someone who isnt asexual ? THEY DONT OWE U A PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP
OKAY, I NEED TO MAKE A TRANSLATION OF THIS FOR MY NATIVE LANGUAGE, SO I CAN SHOW TO PEOPLE WHO DOESN'T SPEAK EN, THIS VIDEO IS PURE PERFECTION
wow i never thought psych2go would make a video about asexuality. this is really cool!
You're welcome! Hope you find it helpful in bringing awareness to such an important topic!
@Hazal Kara. Your profile picture😯.... Will you marry me?🙂
@@rgb8534 ok
I'm friends with this guy and it's honestly great, it's like we do the things most couples do (aside from the intimacy and things only couples do) but we have that dynamic, we hang out together all the time, give eachother stuff, joke etc. But it's all platonic, and I actually really enjoy having a relationship like that with someone, its pretty ideal for me, we don't even have to officially be dating it's just the dynamic
Sounds like a great connection you have there 💜
One thing that's often misunderstood about us is people think we can't get sex.
God it was amazing finding out I was asexual. Now I don’t feel like I have to go out and have a relationship sexual or otherwise
i really hate the whole "asexual people are just whiny virgins that want to feel special" it's not that i myself am not even a virgin it took a bit to come to the conclusion that i was ace
People often say that I am attracted to animals or inanimate objects because of me not being sexualy attracted to anything and it really annoys me because of it.
I'm sick of being told I haven't found the right person especially by my parents I'm glad I have friends who understand and even have the same
My dad somewhat understands but my mum doesn't at all
I'm in the same situation. She said that it's good that I'm doing what I want to do, not what society expects of me, which is honestly one of the best things to hear.
have you ever concidered hooking up with another asexual just to get them or people off your back?
Yes! I agree. when I was younger my dad admitted he thought it was odd I had never had a boyfriend. I used to wonder if I was Bi in college and would think to myself I felt more a sexual. but no one was talking about it back then so I didn't think that was really an "option", but I'm really glad they are now though because I 100% resonate with being on the spectrum of it.
me: i'm asexual
my dad: you can't make a clone yourself...
damn
That was what my mom said when I came out!
I'm actually a biotechnologist so... I probably could someday, but why ?
You should have said, "Watch me Dad!"
adoption is a solution and let the others doing their dirty shits.
It just feels weird to have a crush on people as an asexual, so thanks for making me feel a bit better about myself
I misread this as "It feels weird to have a crush on ace people" and I was like "I've been there, actually much more pleasant then you'd expect." But then I realised that you were talking about your experience on "the other side of the coin".
@@user-bi1lx2em6y oh, I'm sorry, it's ok though
Same here and it sucks for me honestly. On my end, he just wants to play the field. Hope she come around . Good luck
Sounds like you got friendzoned
Well some asexual still date and have sex. This obviously doesn't mean you can force or pressure her into anything (which sadly "corrective sex aka r*pe, actually happens a lot in the ace community) but just ask her what she's at and what she's comfortable with. Don't treat her like shes emotionless or incapable of affection
Being asexual is so fun, having no one to love someone and still I have alot of friends that think I'm gay, im not, asexual is what I am and I wanna stay like that.
Okay but everyone assumes I’m lying when I say I’ve never really had a crush on anyone. Rip
SAMEE!!
I know. it's just the same with me.
Same. I've been teased because I didn't want to tell my friend, so she laughs and says "She's..... Not that kind of person. But I think you're lying!"
Same. I forced myself to have a crush on this guy but I didn’t even like him I just wanted a crush.
Especially when all my friends in highschool had boyfriends :/
Me: telling my friends I’m Asexual a million times
My friends:
*continuously shipping me with other people*
honestly that’s fucked up. shipping real life people in general is straight up just fucked up
Hold up. That's actually scuffed. Never ship real people ever wtf.
But being asexual doesn't necesarly mean being aromantic.
Srry if I don't fully understand
Hey I am an writer and wants to talk to you for some reason....plz msg me on rajratnabhojane@gmail.com...plz...it will be helpful for me....plz
I can relate to this, my friends did this to me too
Acephobes are weak, time for yall to catch these hands. I don't understand how it feels to be ace myself because I am bi. In the same vein, I don't understand how it feels to be straight or a lesbian because I can't imagine being attracted to one gender. It isn't anyone's business to tell people how to feel or what to do with their bodies. I will support my ace friends with every fiber of my being
SpaceChaser Honestly acephobes are everywhere, I cant avoid it and neither can you, we gotta live with it
or they can catch these hands nigga 😤😤👊
Ya Mon 😂😂😂
@@nisehimawari4184 yeah no dude I will throw down my best friend is ace and people make her very uncomfortable about it sometimes and I just need to punch someone and hug her. These arms were built for hugs and swingin
I'm pan but I support my ace friends with every fiber of my being. Let Ace people be Ace! Its who they are and what makes them happy!!!
We need more heroes like this. Bless you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I am aro asexual. I can't understand why people need sex or romantic relationships, I mean I got my friends and that's all that matters to me.
@Nika Kyoto my Facebook name is just Stedman Sykes. It should be the one of me performing live as the profile picture
It's just this rush, the wetness the energy that bottles up inside you.All that NEEDS to be released!
You just describe me and I could cry because I found someone who feels the exact same way!
"So you don't feel sexual attraction?"
"Yes! Thank you for underst-"
"Just wait i know i can turn you on."
"Wow i just gave up on our entire frien-/relationship please do never try to reach out again thank you very much."
Ugh ikr

omg, happened so many times

Yeah, that sounds like my ex boyfriend confusing me more than I actually was
There should be a group where actual asexual people can find love like no horny people allowed
Hell yeah
