Once the sax sample and the flute play over top that's probably an indicator it's a fake, they kind of aren't in the same key - The Avalanches don't fuck around like that, they're masterful
Think of the potential the Avalanches would have if they didn't need clearence for samples. They could probably do a new album every year instead of one every ten years. These guys are amazing. Much love
@XaviusX the flute at 1:01 is from a song called 'Mahalia, I Want Back My Dollar' - Lord Invader & His Calypso Rhythm Boys. not on youtube but check it out on Grooveshark
I know how this makes what i said seem wrong, but I can't remember. It was on the official avalanches forum somewhere, the fans on that forum deciphered it and found the original artist.
I know for a fact that the Horns are from a song called "EL MANICERO", not sure which version though, because it's been covered by so many Singers/Bands.
I used the SHAZAM app from my iPhone to see if it's an existing song, but I got no match, so it's possible that it may be an unreleased song. Whether or not it's from the Avalanches, that's obviously not 100% clear, but it sure sounds like them.
The new albums been out for a while now, and this isn't on it. Not to mention that 7 years before you posted this, the official Avalanches channel commented on this video saying "not even close." Tbh, I do LIKE this song. Just a shame they felt the need to piggy back off Avalanches and trying to pass their song off as their own.
It's a cool imitation; I would be interested to hear who made this song and posed as The Avalanches. That being said, the insertion of the brass and sax in the middle of the song would be uncharacteristic of The Avalanches sampling style. Their style of sampling and composition generally does not have two conflicting key signatures.
@@aaronjablonski1824 I also think he didn't do much with the knitting sample. He just kinda put it over the song. I think a real Avalanches song would only use a bit from the knitting in a different context.
The points you made are good. I do think that the Avalanches would not want voice samples to dominate the tone of the music (generally), but rather serve as contextualization and subtle hints towards another sample or the song in question. On the converse, The Avalanches did have lengthier voice samples in Saturday Inside Out (the spoken word originating from David Berman's 'A Cowboy Overflow of the Heart'.)
It's pretty obvious this is not an avalanches song. You can tell especially by the way this guy uses the knitting samples. He took an entire knitting lesson, cut it into a few pieces and played it through the whole song. The avalanches would have probably used one segment of the whole sample, and modified it some how and looped it. Even though it's not a real Avalanches song, It's still really good.
This is not "Thank You Caroline" I don't know which song this is, if it is by The Avalanches at all, but hopefully it really is from the long awaited second album.
This uploaded track has been under the guise of The Avalanches for the past 6 years, and still no one's confirmed who the actual artist is... But it's awesome nonetheless
I've never heard this track before, though one of the samples (brass instrument?) sounds familiar, possibly from an Avalanches live set. Sounds very polished though. Could be legit.
If this is a guest track or something, nice job making it onto the Avalanches soundtrack. You captured their spirit well. HOWEVER. If this is just a ploy using false advertising just to get hits by using a popular group's name to sell your stuff, then I'm disgusted.
Actually, it's quite possible that this is legitimate, considering there are confirmed guests on the new album. And they never claim to actually be the Avalanches, but that this is merely a new song off the album, possibly their guest track. Plus, they say it's a rough, unmixed version, yet it's already very good, so it's quite possible that the un avalanche like simplicity will be adjusted, and this will legitimately be a track from the new album.
i think Modular might've said something if this was the real avalanches. after 10 years any old teaser would do. Still - whoever did this - A round of applause to you sirs/madams!
@TriangleSyrup you muffin! "The avalanches would have probably used one segment of the whole sample, and modified it some how and looped it." how the f*&^ would YOU know that, after ten years! lol, idk and I sure as hell don't belive you, even if you do turn out to be right!
definatly not, they wouldn't follow such a long strain of samples. they would cut in smaller and more frequent samples, they wouldn't play through a whole stiching thing.
It's been a while since I've been this underwhelmed by a piece of music... It's just a poor imitation of the style they already established and perfected on the first album. This is like it's made by someone who listened to the debut and didn't understand what made it so good.
not even close
amazing
i love you
holy shit
I know you didn't make it, but do you like it?
lmao
Once the sax sample and the flute play over top that's probably an indicator it's a fake, they kind of aren't in the same key - The Avalanches don't fuck around like that, they're masterful
This sounds pretty Avalanches-ish. I would be very surprised if someone else could make a song this good.
I remember this! The Avalanches confirmed it wasn't them (certainly didn't appear on 'Wildflower' lol!)
I asked the Avalanches on twitter if they made this song, they replied with just a simple "no".
That's that I guess
shouldve checked the comments from 7 years prior hahah
This is a really good fake, props to the creator
It sounds like a fitting sequel to the single 'Since I Left You'
Still no idea where this song is from, I wish I knew so I could give the artist credit because this song is amazing
I wish I had this in better quality
Man I wish I knew who actually made this, the song is sublime
+DrPepperDERF totally agree
Great tune, whoever made it has talent 👏.
Think of the potential the Avalanches would have if they didn't need clearence for samples. They could probably do a new album every year instead of one every ten years. These guys are amazing. Much love
well whoever made this - its a lovely sweet tune! well done!
@XaviusX the flute at 1:01 is from a song called 'Mahalia, I Want Back My Dollar' - Lord Invader & His Calypso Rhythm Boys. not on youtube but check it out on Grooveshark
What a fucking mystery this song is. No title, no confirmed creator, nothing. Still love it.
I know how this makes what i said seem wrong, but I can't remember.

Very 'Lemon Jelly'; not bad imitation of The Avalanches..
this will definitely be my album of the year for 2014! (or 2015?)
+cyber maru Guess again!
+cyber maru or 2016
Seven years later, we may be possibly looking at a legit Avalanches single. Tomorrow, perhaps???
The new albums been out for a while now, and this isn't on it. Not to mention that 7 years before you posted this, the official Avalanches channel commented on this video saying "not even close." But there is a bit in Etoh where a guy randomly talks about MIT, but it only lasts like 10 seconds.

So....... Who made this track? They wish to remain unknown?
I wonder if this was an early early version of since i met you..
love the horns at 1:39! almost sounds reminiscent of quantic
I love this sound I wish this was real.
it's great that i learnt how to knit through this sweet track but someone (boycom?) has to reveal the origins of this mysteriousness
The video response is the actual "Thank You Caroline"
It's quite the groovy little yamaha piece.
It does sound like The Avalanches. I really like it too. Hope it's real.
It does sound like them...I do hope it is, I like it.
love this band!
Love them and it's been tooooooooooooooooo long!
boy communication is a very similar name to girl talk. just sayin'.

they've grown up a bit you can tell in the music amazing i think
but there is a new album in work - right?
This is not "Thank You Caroline"
I don't know which song this is, if it is by The Avalanches at all, but hopefully it really is from the long awaited second album.
The new album is done, they're clearing samples.
This uploaded track has been under the guise of The Avalanches for the past 6 years, and still no one's confirmed who the actual artist is... But it's awesome nonetheless
+youlikeluxury I wanna say it was decided to be a fake, made by the people who uploaded. But it it is a fake, its a DAMN good one.
I've never heard this track before, though one of the samples (brass instrument?) sounds familiar, possibly from an Avalanches live set. Sounds very polished though. Could be legit.
i think you'll find this is thank you caroline from the since i left you single. not their new song.
if anyone here is a big fan of the these guy they wouldnt even question to say that this song wasnt made by the avalanches..just listen.....
@XaviusX good spot!
Better than the new single
If this is a guest track or something, nice job making it onto the Avalanches soundtrack. You captured their spirit well. HOWEVER. If this is just a ploy using false advertising just to get hits by using a popular group's name to sell your stuff, then I'm disgusted.

In other words...the person who uploaded it here?
Great song but not an Avalanches track. Can't wait till the new album finally arrives.
Came back here to see if anyone had an ID of this awesome track......disappointed again :(
i think Modular might've said something if this was the real avalanches. after 10 years any old teaser would do. Still - whoever did this - A round of applause to you sirs/madams!
my sentiments exactly sir.....or madam, whatever, you dunno, anyway, your right.
Whoooooo are you, who-who who-who?
they're "da man!"
Is this real?
wacis Avalanches?
not so much nautical so mebe its something non Avalanches?
Awesome track, but I wonder who actually made it...
I know it isn't The Avalanches because this song is based mostly on the same samples. Avalanches songs change multiple times througout.
This is so good! Why does it have to be fake :(
it probably is the sample from it :)
Its ok
100% avalanches if you know about music.......
@TriangleSyrup you muffin! "The avalanches would have probably used one segment of the whole sample, and modified it some how and looped it." how the f*&^ would YOU know that, after ten years! lol, idk and I sure as hell don't belive you, even if you do turn out to be right!
deal with it man its a song by the funkiest band out just run it and dont talk about it
i wouldn tdoubt that this is the avalanches. but it could easily be a fake. it does sound good either way.
definatly not, they wouldn't follow such a long strain of samples. they would cut in smaller and more frequent samples, they wouldn't play through a whole stiching thing.
I don't know this track sounds too much like somebody TRYING to sound like the avalanches.
Nice track but its too simple to be the Avalanches.
sounds like Lemonjelly, but I don't think its them...
maybe this is the new Avalanches... get used to it, people change
It's been a while since I've been this underwhelmed by a piece of music... It's just a poor imitation of the style they already established and perfected on the first album. This is like it's made by someone who listened to the debut and didn't understand what made it so good.
Whoops i just read further in the comments. Definitely not avalanches haha!
@coadykai27 if you used your brain instead of your ego/heart you'd find you were very wrong.
Try-hard rip of the Avalanches style aka Since I left you title track. Don't think this is the Avalanches boys & girls.
this ain't the avalanches
Still better than Frankie Sinatra
It's not even an avalanches song.
"new"
i fel like this is fake
I wont accept until I see it official. Cant trust scams like these, these days.
