I watched a documentary on Rush and absolutely loved it. Made me respect what they did. I also came away with the feeling they were a very tight band which I feel isn't something we normally see with bands that have been together for a long time. Something about one of the members leaving the band after I think his qife died and they weren't going to replace him... They were like if he never comes back we never play again. I loved that. I remember listening to them alot in the late 80s and ealey 90s. Cool band for sure.
I was fortunate enough to have seen many Rush live concerts all through the 1970s. After hearing the first album I created a silk screen of the red RUSH logo in shop class at elementary school and printed it on a bunch of T-shirts. I actually saw Rush twice in one year of time. They first came as the opener for Aerosmith who were promoting Toys In The Attic and Rocks, and Rush had either just released 2112 or were about to do so. Then Rush came back as the headliner either later that year or early the next year with a full 2112 tour. Then a short time after that the local promoter booked Rush into a 4,000 seat arena for the All The World's A Stage tour. I have never been to another concert where people were packed in so tightly. I guarantee you that there was no money made at the concession stand because nobody could get to it, or to the bathrooms for that matter. I stood on a metal folding chair that a cop abandoned in the far back of the arena when the place filled up and I watched the concert over the top of everyone's heads. I couldn't even get off the chair to the floor. Even though Rush was one of my favorite bands for many years I pretty much lost interest in their music after the Moving Pictures album. There was a huge change around then and it was not to my liking. By the way... Neil (RIP) pronounces the "ear" in his last name just like it looks and what you have two of on your head. Peart not Pert. He set the record straight during an interview with Eddie Trunk which you can find on TH-cam. Not really a big deal but I thought you might like to know. I enjoyed your review of the book. My local library has it in ebook form and I plan to check it out sometime soon. If you want some behind the scenes insight into the band then you should check out Geddy Lee's autobiography called My Effin Life. It is a good read for any Rush fan.
@@ALAN_COX I have that book on order. I heard that interview where Neil corrected the pronunciation of his name. I just have said it that way for so long when I start talking I just can’t fix myself lol I am going to take your advice and make my own shirt lol
@@tadreadsbooksstuff You will like Geddy's book. And I also pronounced Peart wrong for many years. When I made my silkscreen to print the shirts it was not with the fancy photo sensitive stuff in use today. I had to cut out the area to print by using an exacto knife blade and then fix the film to the silk with a bonding chemical. Several of my friends also brought their shirts on printing day. It wasn't like you could go to a store and buy a shirt of your favorite band back then, so only us "cool kids" had Rush shirts. (LOL)
Glad to hear you’re joining in on Supersize/Supersmall Summer. Hopefully you’ll enjoy Name of the Wind much better than Anathem. Look forward to hearing how you like the book. Love that lovely edition too!

@@FacelessBookReviews yeah, they were saying in the book that they would rehearse their new songs so much that when they got to the studio to record them they just played them straight through. I recently saw an interview with Geddy where he said he and Alex might just do another album some day. He said never say never.
