I love the behind the scenes stuff to movies way more than the movies themselves. It’s really fascinating to see all that goes into making a movie, it really is quite a production.
I really enjoyed your video! I built one myself a couple of years back. Just noticed now that you're using 6 LEDs. I put only 4 underneath each tube. 6 looks way more accurate. Amazing craftsmanship!
Yeah, there is an optional plug for the board but not needed for what I am doing, but it does make the repair easier, but these don't fail, unless you fry it. Truth be told, I DID fry this one, it was hot and fell on a little snip of solder and burned a trace off the board! I simple ran a little jumper on it and fixed it. Good old school bread-boards, easy peasy.

There is always bogus drama, a whole lot of "me first" and "mine is better" sorta crap, I'm way past that stuff. I just do the best that I can and make sure the customer and the fans are happy. You can always tell if there is something fishy with the story when the person telling it to you is also trying to sell you the same thing that the other guy does. Gee whiz, what a coincidence? lol
My idea of a vacation would be to come to the shop and just help you guys work for a week. This is like everything I love all in one. Seeing this makes me realize that it really is possible to do what you love for a living.
That's pretty awesome to hear about how everything inside the original Hollywood prop was just used parts from old WW2 military radio equipment! Yes Sir I heard you loud and clear and was very interesting to see how you were making them with all the hidden little gems of secrets back in 85 Lol! I was just thinking of using the good old standard for analog technology and semi digital using the 555 timer chips. I've used them in the past on many occasions when making random hits to follow the leaders in LED by the 555 and yes you can do the same thing as for your speed by using a Pot and other stand alone resistors but It's always preferable my choice to use Pots so you can fine tune your work without having to add or subtract resistance 😉 very nice work though it looks like the spot on original my man! And bad ass as well for a reproduction of it. That was also a very fascinating fact that they were actually using incandescent bulbs 💡 back then, don't even know if Leds had even been discovered yet? LMAO Wow! Definitely dates a person and makes you reflect on time......Damn. Otherwise awesome information and great video, I thank you for doing this.

Hi, You caught my attention on my afternoon TH-cam ramble. I enjoy your passion. Without getting deep in the electronic weeds, an Arduino or Raspberry Pi in the right hands could replicate the board you are using. Those capable already know that. Yes, I enjoy your passion, and...very nice TT Sub.
Surely the flux capacitor WOULD flash at a constant rate because the speed of light is a constant, and that would be the reference for moving in time so you know where you are and when to stop. (eat THAT, Heisenberg! Shove your uncertainty principle up your batti!!) #Spitballing

The original one in the movie wasn't lights. It was actual electrical spark created by an ignition coil. The same kind used to fire spark plugs in a car.

That’s awesome never thought of the control board being so simple. And basically hot swapable.
