This camera does a good job in low light. It was well after sundown when we picked them up and almost dark when we were finished. We only had to move them 4 miles.
The people in your area are very lucky to be getting honey from all the different parts of North America considering how large the country is. I always enjoy testing honey from different areas in my country.
Mr. Binnie, we ejoyed the walk this morning... That is some beautiful country where you have your yard. We hate you have extra work moving bees, thankfully the farmer let's you know when and how long they're going to be spraying. Take care and God Bless!
We have pink crepe myrtle trees at the hotel and the honey bees work them like crazy if nothing else is available. It was great seeing you and the team again in Greeneville. See you in Louisville.
Zinnias are super easy to grow, and you can pick up seeds at the dollar store super cheap. Dahlias are great in the same garden, and they seem to attract the same butterflies and bumble bees.
I was wondering if you left your frame feeders in all year without cleaning them and now I know the answer. I find dead bees in mine which attract hive beetles so I clean them out every fall when I am done feeding. Love your videos! They have helped me become a better beekeeper!🐝
Ha Bob wonderful to see u,. glad your web page for your business is doing so good it is also wonderful to see that your honey season went so well for you. Your sales will continue to increase I believe because your home-made bee supplies are the best anyone can buy. I love my lids and the double screen boards I got from you they are outstanding. I wish I had more. I was wondering I am in Virginia, I would guess our weather is close to the same. as your weather when the queen starts laying the winter bees/fat bees does she lay them the hole fall into winter season. Also does your queens shut down completely in the winter months. I hope u and your crew and wonderful family have a very Blessed week.
Hi Frances. We may be close to the same because although you are farther north we are at a higher elevation. Yes, we have a completely broodless period for at least a few weeks in a normal year. Thanks.
I've switched to a PVC 1 1/2" modified drain tube with stainless screen. For some reason my bees chew right through the Mann Lake ladders... Lots of drowning with the original design. They have a redesigned ladder now that is flatter on the bottom and not crimp/heat welded like the originals, but they are made of even softer plastic.
Good morning Bob, looks like your guys are getting the work done. It's a shame they have to spray the sweet corn so much, its the spray not the corn right? Is squash not good because they spray also?😁I am SO happy to be living next to a spray free CSA farm, my bees LOVE my neighbor. Happy Lords Day, Bob and Crew...
Yes, it's the spray not the corn. This farmer sprays it a lot. Bees love squash and the pollen seems to be good for them but in this case they spray it at least once a week.
A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Planted some dwarf Zinnias this year and VERY pleased with them for attracting the pollinators as well as looking good. Will be doing many more throughout our garden next year. Curious and what do you use in your smoker? We have been using cow dung and it works good but does not last as long as we wish it would. As ALWAYS Thank You for another fun and informative video!
Yes, those two have been the best smoker fuel for me too. Road crush pine needles and wood pellets in a tall smoker will last a long time throughout the day going from yard to yard as I do helping with a friend's colonies. Still keep some burlap around along with some menthol crystals to smoke extra spring bees up into medium slated bump boxes and bounced into larger screened holding bumper boxes. Usually about 30 lbs worth and 2 frames of honey for them the cluster/hold onto thru the night to sell to others for packages, 5 frame nucs, or boosting up weaker hives. Remember using Benzaldehyde Bob?! Those were the old days. I think some beekeepers used it for getting bees out of honey supers, though I never did this, just for bulk bees. Thanks for the tour there at Blue Ridge. Gary 🐝 @@bobbinnie9872
@@bobbinnie9872 Thank you for the reply, Bob. I'll check with Mannlake. I look forward to your videos every week and have learned so much from you! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and wisdom.
I don't know how you do it. Bob, question for you. Let say you have a super 90% full, yet nothing is capped. Doing the shake test nothing falls out. But again, nothing is capped. Would it be safe for me to leave this covered, sitting on one of my hives for winter, for them to finish off next season? What would you do?
I know that question is for Bob , but I would put the frames in a freezer. If you leave the super on the hive. Don’t have a queen excluder under it, because if the winter cluster happens to move above the excluder. The queen will be trapped below and die
@@markbooth8458 Hey Mark, my question was more about leaving the super on top of the lid of the current hive, wrapped up, so that it is exposed to the winter--rather than bringing it inside to freeze. Grateful.
I think they will handle it just fine if left on now. You may find that they tend to pull it down in to the the brood nest area over time if it isn't capped soon.
Just a question, your website doesn’t show bee supplies. You said you’re shipping now, so would I have to call to order supplies? Just a question. Thank you!
@@bobbinnie9872 I’m sorry to hear that!! You have helped me out tremendously from your videos working in them I am over 200 hives now and looking to pull my first good honey crop shortly
So tell me I hear so much about not to leave the feeders in threw winter will it hurt them if I leave on in threw you don’t have bad winters so I’m wondering if that makes a diff I would love to just leave mine in all year save me some work but I’m in Canada
Are you moving those bees during daylight hours? Aren't you leaving foragers?

Im always watching your videos from Kenya. Nice work, keep sharing your journey in bee keeping ❤❤

Bees on the move!😂
Cream Soda???? New Winter feed????? 😆Was great to meet you in Tennessee last weekend!!!
Thanks, I really enjoyed being there and meeting people. Tennessee folks are great.
That root beer is excellent too.
How long is it ok to keep barrels of honey before botteling?
If the moisture is good and the temperatures in storage aren't very high a year or two will work. Of course fresh is always best.
Hi Bob! I was cleaning frame feeders today also. I am short a few rubber bands. What size O rings do you use?
We purchase them from Mann Lake and just ask for the ones specific to our size feeder. I don't actually know the size.

I just read your reply to Mark. I don't think leaving it on top of the lid would be good. It could ferment or mold in that situation.
@@bobbinnie9872 This is helpful. So Ill either leave it for the bees, or extract it.
Hey Bob, how do you keep the interior glass so clean on the observation hive?
The only time we clean it is when we open it up up to repopulate. It is tempered glass, not plastic.
I found those inner feeders don’t help out my nucs cause there to small of a hive to defend vs ants so those inner feeders cause more harm for me
What do you use in your smokers, great video.
Pine straw and hardwood wood stove pellets.
How far from corn fields do you move the colonies before they are sprayed?
At least a mile, two would be much better.
Hi Bob, what o-rings do you use and where do you get them? TIA
We actually purchase them from Mann Lake.
Thank you for the video, do you ship nukes? I live in Maine. Good morning.
Good morning. Sorry, we don't ship bees.

How thick is your warehouse concrete floor?
6 inch, 4000 psi.
Bob did I hear you correctly that you have down sized to only 1000 colonies?
Yes, that is correct. Slowing down a bit.

Skipping honey but you don't ship to Texas. It saddens me that I wanted to buy a few squee bears.
We do ship within the US but not out of the country. Call our store at 706 782 6722 and they can help you.

No.
Our crepe myrtles are a magenta like color and the bees have no interest in them.
Youi're supposed to sort them buy color.
