Rock band 1-2 got me into playing real instruments when I was like 7-8. This is a throwback

Okay, so a few tips..
There’s solid color notes that need to be strummed like a normal guitar. This is a given and are 9 times out of 10 perfectly matched with strumming sections in real songs, 1 to 1.
The ones with white on the top are hammer one and pull offs.. you don’t have to strum them if you hit the first in that sequence, but need to strum if you lose sequence. Some people bring their strumming hand up when I’m combo and tap different notes in the sequence with both hands to make it easier, but some man-handle the sections like a beast
The slightly transparent notes are tap notes and work like hammer one and pull offs, but you just need to tap, no strumming involved. These are mainly the harshest parts, as is the intro of ttfaf. For a reference, I wouldn’t strum them if I were you and use both hands to tap the notes in sequence. Specifically ttfaf, the green notes can be anchored and the rest of it can be tapped into hammer one and pull offs, making the overall composition of that combo a little easier to manage.
I’d suggest playing songs on clone hero that you know in real life because the strumming patterns might be somewhat similar, and even may help with finger positioning. The buttons aren’t accurate however, but in most audibly higher note sequences, they’ll be further down the neck like a real guitar, and vice versa with the lower notes. This guide can help you understand how solos and riffs are charted and help with hitting them.
For strumming, it’s easier to grip it with your thumb and pointer finger as if you were holding a pick, and to strum up and down. Most of the songs are strumming-ly correct (if that’s a real phrase 🤷♂️) to the song being played, so if you know the rhythms, all that’s left is the buttons. For instance, if you played bleed, the strumming will be one for one how the speed of strumming is for the real song, all that’s left is pushing the right button at the right time.
And a final tip I have is to turn on no fail and go into practice on sections you’re not familiar with.. this helps a lot with your overall experience with the game and finding out how things work, and what techniques to use when playing. Just like practicing in real life, you can slow it down or speed it up, and go over section by section songs you’re unfamiliar with. This is a big helper in the game and helps add to the feelings of playing a real guitar (besides it being plastic 🥴)
You might not see this at all but if you do I’m hoping you take these into consideration and maybe feel a little better hitting harder sections and maybe even get through through the fire and flames! Love your content and I’m glad to see you step outta your comfort zone and I hope you do well! Keep up the good work

I'll add to this to look at the sync option to make sure you don't have too much delay between the input and the action on screen. Since this is a rythm game, the delay needs to be as low as possible for the best experience. I remember having issue with it on GH3 but not sure how it works with CH.

From what I understand a lot of the skill to this is like learning how to shred, it’s a trick that you figure out and slowly speed up and requires getting use to certain patterns just different.

I think the 2 benefits of GH/CH are practing rhythms like alternate picked triplets and finger/hand strength plus it’s one of the best ways to enjoy & find new music
I discovered so many bands because of GH and RB. Without it, I wouldn't have discovered Pleymo, Filter, At The Drive In, Flyleaf, Breaking Wheel, That Handsome Devil, and so much more

you gotta change the video delay either that or the audio delay to make hitting the buttons actually hit in real time, bc there is a delay from when you hit the note to when it shows up on screen

It makes me feel a little better knowing that I actually played completely through through the fire and the flames and completed all the songs on expert back when GH was cool
On some guitars if you strum too hard and let go without bringing it to the middle again or with a pick it might have the effect of overstrumming and strum twice instead of once

I played GH games, when I started real guitar, mostly I could tap and alternate pick and fool people. Wasn't til I learned chords, keys, etc
Nik from my experience with Clone Hero you'll need to do some tweaking of the Audio and Video lag for your setup, takes a while and a lot of trial and error to get it right but you won't look back once you've done it, best of luck ^^

I was a avid player of GH series in ps2 but only used my controller and I remembered the time me and my bandmate tried to use the guitar controls in the arcade for the first time and damn it was too embarrassing lol.
there's a technique in the fire and the flames you don't have to strum just hold on the green button and just play all the other notes works like real taps on a guitar
You don’t have to strum the highlighted notes btw. You can hammer on/pull off those.

if you want to actually enjoy this game i would recommend turning up the note speed. it spaces everything out so they scroll faster but there's less onscreen at once. kinda helps you make sense of all the shit scrolling towards you (Press select while in the menus to bring up the setting)

This was me back in 2008 LOL I was a real guitar player and thought Guitar Hero looked like a joke, and I was so mad that I could not last but a few seconds on Expert, and it set me out on a mission to get good at the game. I will say though even after all of these years of playing, I have not fc'd TTFAF on Expert. My best run was -23 notes.

I was ok at guitar hero. My best song was a FC on knights of cydonia. Got a pass on about 65% of the songs on expert. Ones that I can't claim are through fire and flames, devil went down to Georgia, and cliffs of dover. Got the first half of cliffs down, but then my 360 bricked R.I.P. the dream
