What a Guide! Not only talking about Shiv, but also talking about the thought process on why/when you fight, jungle, buying items, etc. Nicely done sir. Thank you very much!
Unironically got stomped by this build. Shiv was solo lane vs paradox and absolutely destroyed her. He had at least a 3k soul lead on the entire lobby exiting landing phase. He ended like +12k on the next wealthiest player. Me and my friend both thought it was a terrible build and he just got lucky going against a feeding paradox. But maybe he earned that 6 and 0 laneing phase
I think a lot of builds are good if played right and it’s easy to just look at someones build and go “well that looks bad” but fighting to your own strengths and catching people off guard has its perks!
Yes thank you for this video. I use this build all the time (I like that you put resto shot on it). I think you should add warp stone (like some korean melee build Ive seen trending on shiv) Some guy tried telling me melee is bad in high mmr because of parry (Like parry baiting isn't a thing). Then said bleed is the best build. This is by far the best build. You build rage better, get stronger faster, and sustain in lane so hard with the extra bullets from charge punch and heal from melee fist. And early game you land 1 heavy punches and any variation of your combo (alt click, dash, etc) they will easily be in range for your ult.
I've played roughly 70 games of this build so far. It's ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS some games you're a One Punch Man deleting people with the Q button. I try to end every game riding Magic Carpet through middle into the Patron while Colossal for the lulz
I really loved the thought process of stealing enemy jungle. I would never have thought of leaving patron to farm enemy jungle after killing first shrine. Also really cool to see that early game jungle rotation
making sure to gave good damage on your dash is super strong, makes the combo of Shoot -> Knife -> Dash/Ult to close distance -> Melee -> Secondary Fire -> finish off in any way you have available, like your 4 if you have it, or just more melees or shots. you can execute that combo in like a second or two max and have really hugh burst, esp with this melee build.
Been trying this build a couple games, main difference for me is I buy cold wave instead of torment pulse, it's another apply for the resist shredder and you have plenty of active slots so I like to use them if possible.for this reason I also like to buy the upgrade for healing rite, don't remember the name. The 1250 category is so versatile imo
@@AverageJonasI don't know if I would call it much slower, I am not impressed by pulse as a farming item tbh, I thought it was a radiance like item but it honestly triggers maybe 3 or 4 times on a couple creeps, a single cold wave does the same amount. The cooldown might be what sets them apart but you also have a 1800 souls head start on another gun item so maybe you still farm fast enough. I'd try to run the numbers in the sandbox I think
Hahaha true! He was boring cause he was OP, the more they nerfed him the more fun it gets, also its cause i made a melee build:) its a new game so it changes up quick
Thoughts on going monster round early and selling it for hunter’s aura later? I’ve been running your build for a few days with the early monster rounds and it feels really good. Edit: Forgot to mention I sell resto when it’s time to buy berserker
i played this build on the first month of deadlock, always get 35-50 kill everytime, now after the nerf and everyone know how to play the game its kinda hard to sustain
I thought that melee counted as bullet damage but what I don't understand is why it doesn't trigger lifesteal. If it's bullet damage, shouldn't bullet lifesteal count? If it were only half as efficient for the same reason gun damage only half upgrades it, I'd be fine with that, but it doesn't seem to work at all.
@@AverageJonas also just wanna say this is funny timing, I just picked up your build like yesterday and have been having tons of fun with it. And then you released this vid. I think I've already picked up most of the nuances of the build, aside from me underrating colossus, but the video helps solidify that I'm playing the build right. It's baffling how bad knife build is in comparison, at least when it comes to having random teammates. I started out playing hybrid shiv and since everyone was saying knife build is good, I took the bait and started playing that. It did not go well at all. At least now I know.
At 13:54 there are 5 enemy heroes showing on the far side of the map and you chose to farm the jungle instead of pressure and (possibly take?) a walker. Just ranting sorry, but I absolutely hate these moments where someone doesnt turn up to a fight and doesnt pressure the map for it either (if possible). Still a huge fan of your content though. I just dont want people to take away a very common farming trap from this vid.
He had too much unsecured soul at the moment. It also takes awhile for him to rotate down to the other side. Meanwhile his troopers are passively pushing down the lane. The team is holding well with a walker on our side. In the end the massive powerspike from the souls farmed help win a massive fight at 16:00. Try a different perspective.
@@saltygamers888 he was already at the right lane when 5 heroes showed on the map. And he couldve just ran down the lane he was at and pressure the walker. This forces the enemy team to react. They have to either disengage or rush a fight (or they lose a walker for free). With 5 enemy heroes showing on the far side of the map, theres no threat of dying to a solo vindicta (she was the only one not showing), pressuring a walker until your team communicates that the enemy team is backing. In this specific example, if you look at the minimap, the vindicta eventually joined the fight too. Had he pressured the walker, she wouldve been forced to defend and not join the fight; taking off pressure from your team, while still farming troopers. Sure the end result was the team held down the walker with minimal casualties but this is just talking in hindsight and it couldve ended way worse. And I refuse to believe otherwise.

Seriously this whole video was crazy helpful
Awesome!! I appreciate that

I love this build. Awhile ago I tried it and my gameplay w shiv improved tremendously! Thank u!
These guides are really helpful. I have over 200 hours in the game and I still learn things from your videos. Thank you Jonas!
Same!
Fantastic video Jonas. These guides are very insightful man!
Amazing guide. My gameplay improved everytime I watch a new Jonas video
Only have time for a few matches a week and i just stomped with this build ty
Love this build, it's so fun. Not sure why but I hear a loud pulsing noise when using it, maybe one of the items is bugged.
prob the tormeting pulse item
@@mathewscomow Could be, it's strange because the volume varies, and sometimes goes away altogether, it can be very loud and distracting at times
Its a bug. I've heard it too, then it went away. Not exactly sure what is causing it tho
@@TheCryoWolfe i think shiv is just bugged I get it on him regardless of build
Shiv audio bug, yes. Anybody knows how to fix? Console command

Shhh, honey. A new Jonas's build just dropped.
Great explanation, nice build. Thx for it!
Glad you liked it!

Yeah that works, just makes your farm speed much slower!

So close to 700k lets go
You said he was boring in the fun tier list and now he is one of your favorite

This build fucks. Just dropped 25 with it ❤
say, that thing on -resist made me wonder, does that mean weapon damage items give similar damage boosts as minus weapon resist?
i love you so much jonas

Not a super fun time to play Shiv right now in the Infernus-Pocket meta. Hoping we get another shake-up soon.
Debuff remover!!
Do u have some ideas on Dynamo builds? Or this hero is pretty straightforward on your opinion and do not have some interesting approaches?
There is a dota term for it when you first push out the lanes and then you _farm backwards_

Hmm not a bad idea considering how much we jungle tbh, might try it! Thank u
Why spirit lifesteal over bullet lifesteal, Ive been trying this and always doing more bullet damage from melee and gun
As a shiv player my biggest tip would be to buy surge of power and put it on the dagger
im surprised you don't go escalating exposure, its a very strong item
It's in the Ultra Luxury late game section of the build if you look. I think the game just didn't go on long enough
I've been abusing melee shiv + support kelvin combo with my friend and it's absolutely unfair. Was winning 2v6 on the regular
It’s shivvin time
i played this build on the first month of deadlock, always get 35-50 kill everytime, now after the nerf and everyone know how to play the game its kinda hard to sustain

Yeah its inconsistent, doesnt work on all on hit effects either, only some

I think knife build is better in high elo but this is a pubstomper! Fun is more important anyway
Still waiting for the Abrams Melee Guide
7:17 How did you heal yourself at the shop?
He bought Healing Rite and used it.

YOU ARE TOO BASED TO BE ALLOWED TO MOVE FORWARDS
Bout to jungle everywhere
bonk
still prefer dot shiv not a fan of being parried
All about the baits but I hear you it’s the absolute worst lol. Just helpless lol
Yeah i actually love the mind games and playing melee builds make you better at parry baiting
Another Shiv nerf incoming
its like Sova but doesnt have bow and arrow and not russian and not white hair and...
I have pretty sic build for Shiv, which I haven't seen anyone play or cover
tell me bro
A hero will be nerfed and then they will either be built with new Bullet, Spirit or Melee.
fun fact: shiv will fall off carpet if there is a low hp enemy hero within range
also if you hold right click right before you get on carpet, you can fire shotgun while riding carpet
