Shame SJ got a full overhaul and Mini just a new lick of paint :(
Mini is a great grinder but for a demanding prosumer some of its drawbacks should have been addressed by now, IMO. Otherwise many enthusiasts will turn to other brands like Eureka, Fiorenzato etc who make modern prosumer grinders many use at home too.
Mini is archaic design, it's 20 years old now, with little or no change done to its retention, speed, static...all of these have been addressed in the new SJ VPro, but none as it seems with the new 2022 Mini.

@@glichasasha750 LOL...and the same grind amount inconsistency from 20+ years ago. And the static...and the massive retention, and the noise...otherwise what's not to love, it's a nice little commercial-level grinder. 🙂
Luca's statement "it is already great so we didn't have to fix it" made me laugh, and sad at the same time.

@@drazenbabich I had the Mini for about a year then bought the SJ VPro in polished chrome. Night and day difference. Goes really well with my GS3. You could wait for its better days or simply go straight to SJ.

@@glichasasha750 Bought my SJ VP as soon as it hit the shops year and a half ago. I wanted a Mazzer as my preferred brand, but was driven mad by my Mini Electronic and all the issues it brings by default. I cannot be happier with a SJ V, it beats any grinder in this class, hands down. All the issues I had with a mini got addressed...and now I can grind a double for just over 7 seconds. It took 20secs on a mini before I first upgraded my Mini Electronic to 33M SJ burrs that got it down to 11-12 sec but still slow for my needs and wants. Super Jolly Electronic followed briefly for 9 months, but I sold that one too - it was better than a Mini E in general, but only just as it still had issues with slower grinding speed (10-11 secs for a 16g double). SJ V Pro beckoned, they pretty much changed everything in it, there isn't a single part that I could see is the same as the old SJ E model. The SJ V Pro is a mini version of a Major V, it's got pretty much all the functions and features of Major, in a smaller package. My grind times are now 4.5sec for an Italian 8g single basket and 7.5sec for a 16g double, fluffier grind, no static or clumping at all, almost no retention too.
Enjoy yours, I'm loving mine! 😀
P.S. The reason I was hopeful on the "new" mini is that I'd like a secondary grinder for decaf, single origins etc. It appears it will have to be one of those toy-like single dosers that home barista market is full of, at the moment. :(
I ain't spending a grand on a "new" small commercial grinder with 20+ years old tech, so Mini won't be my choice before Mazzer decides to address it properly..
