  • Small random project over the weekend.
As a side note, I had to remove the grinds chamber to wedge onto the lower burr carrier with a screwdriver while unscrewing the bolt. Didn't include footage of that part of the disassembly.

    Hello,
I know the video is from last year, but can you tell me what website you purchased the upper burr carrier from? Thank you?

No worries. Got everything from espressoparts.com. Upper and lower carriers, upper and lower burrs.

@@MrCreepycrawley thanks for posting the conversion. I am considering doing the same with mine, so I was how satisfied are you with the mod after some 2 years? Are you still using it? I was looking at the espressoparts website for the parts I would need, but I am unsure exactly which ones. Could you post the part numbers, please? Thanks!

Hey, nice clip. Is that with the mazzer mini luigi 250w? Did you have any problems with the motor not starting up with beans in the burrs or being sluggish, like some have said?

That's the Luigi alright. And nope, no problems at all. The new burrs have been chewing up everything I've thrown at it in half the time it used to, and there's no observable reduction in speed from what I've seen so far.

@@MrCreepycrawley Nice, doing the exact same thing with my luigi atm. Perfect timing! Could I ask how you took off the lower carrier at 1:30 so easily? Mine is literally stuck to the motor somehow and ive tried prying it off but no luck :/ Also where did you buy your carrier sets from? Looking to pick some up haha.

@@bl1196 Yeah be careful with prying it off, taking 3 long screws and evenly screwing those through the lower burr carrier can help, just try to keep it going straight up

Hi, would you justify the price to the finished product?
Is a very cool mod, just want to know if it is worth it.
I just picked up a mini dirt cheap and was considering this mod eith the doserless mod.

Hey. I'd probably say that the answer would be pretty subjective, based on what you're looking to get out of your grinder and your coffee. Personally, the step up in grind time is a major plus, considering I use the grinder for cold brew, espresso and Turkish. Does it make the coffee taste any different? I think so. YMMV, but I've noted fairly less sour notes in my coffee before and after the upgrade. Mouthfeel doesn't seem all that different though. I did try to do a basic taste test reference before and after the upgrade, but it could just be the euphoria of the upgrade talking. The most obvious benefit is speed, which gets almost twice as fast, with the burrs staying cooler, and not affecting the beans as much during the grind. All in all, I consider it a good upgrade and worth extending the life of an excellent grinder.

@@MrCreepycrawley yeah seems worth while if I am already in the position of needing new burrs.
Thanks for your feedback and detailed video mate.

@@MrCreepycrawley Hi. Do you mind pointing out exactly which parts did you order? I have a Mazzer mini 58mm burr and I would like to do the same you did i.e. replace it with 64mm burr. Thanks.
