Another one of my favorite movies!!! I think my mom and dad actually saw it in theaters when it came out. I had the first three on VHS and I'm trying to get them on DVD real soon!!! I can't wait to see the new one myself. I actually have the soundtrack to the second movie on CD and it's just as awesome too!!! Oh and speaking of the soundtrack to the first movie, Patti LaBelle was in Cincinnati a few day ago at Kroger Grocery Store signing autographs and promoting her Pancake Mix Line. Even though I didn't get a chance to take a picture with her, but as she was leaving for the airport, I did get a chance to say hi to her and shake her hand. She was so nice too. Steven Berkoff (Victor Maitland) was also in Prince's second movie, Under The Cherry Moon, where he was also the bad guy. The Pointer Sisters had another song for the second movie called Be There which I love too!!! I hope you do a Dinner & Movie/Podcast for the second one real soon!!!
You guys touched upon a lot of great points about this movie. One of the things that is important, that you talked about was the impact of the music from movies like this,it helped set in stone the zeitgeist for these movies,it established longer exposure to them, for example, when the making of a new Bond film was announced, the immediate buzz focused around who was going to sing the main song for it! Also, nowdays,a movie typically receives buzz into opening weekend, and maybe a couple weeks after. These movies were in theaters for months! ET was in theaters for close to a year!! Neil Diamond performed”Turn on Your heartlight “. It was never in the movie ET,it came out afterwards!! Reese’s pieces only became popular from ET. Now THAT is zeitgeist. You never see that now. The movie Zeitgeist effect is rare,if ever now.
I actually watched Beverly Hills Cop last night! o I am watching one of the Beverly Hills Cop movie a day (tonight is Beverly Hills Cop II) till I watch Axel F on July 3rd! † July 3rd is Tom Cruise's birthday too!
@@Our80sLife Yes I know. I missed every prior convention so going to this. The only DALLAS cast member I have ever met was Debra Renard and she was on stage at Sopranos Con with her friend Al Sapienza back in 2019.
