      I looked them up a long time ago to use with my parent's entertainment center build, and they were really expensive, so I used this method then and figured I'd use it again here haha

    The island looks great. I'm sure that you are happy that you did the make over. When I heard and saw what you were going to do, my lazy streak took over and I said, "That island looks good enough to me. I would not redo it", but you really did a nice job. The island kinda stands out and gives the kitchen a different eye appeal, a different visual pop.

      Thank you!! I actually linked the hickory I used in the video description 👍 I got it online 😊

    I just built a TV stand out of birch. It will have black hardware. I wonder if hickory stain would work?

      I’ve never seen hickory stain before. I’m sure you can find something that will color match pretty close

    It looks great. Honestly I would have done a paine wood combo. But that's just personal preference

    This was very helpful! I have an island that I did build but have not yet trimmed out, and you really helped me think about how to finish it in terms of caulk, trim, etc. A question - on the bottom 1x6's of the trim it looks like there is a beaded edge - did you router that?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad you found it helpful! I didn’t router anything here. The 1x6s I bought had VERY SLIGHT rounded corners…they always do where I buy them from (kind of like you’d get when you buy a 2x4). But I didn’t add any extra rounding or detail. I just cut them to length and nailed in place.

    As someone who also doesn’t like painting as much - do you have a method / process for decent results? Was it an oil or water-based paint?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always use water based paint. I actually have a lot of details on painting in this post:

      @@WoodshopDiaries fantastic. I knew you have something simple and straight to the point for painting but hadn’t came across it yet.

    I really like this, super modern. The white outlet cover, have you thought of changing it to black instead?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! No, I actually prefer the white. The black couldn’t be the same shade of black as the paint and I think the white looks cleaner. But I have a thing about colored outlets, so that’s just my personal preference
