Bure played in the Neutral Zone Trap era, and he played against great goaltenders. If Bure played today, he would score 80 goals a season.

The most underrated goal scorer in the history of hockey. More goals/game than Ovechkin, 100x more exciting goals. 90% of Ovechkin goals are just one-time slapshots. Bure had the speed/stickhandling like McDavid, but you literally never hear anyone mention Bure.

Realized he only played like 6 full seasons. Other seasons were shortened by injuries and a lockout. I wish he played longer. He was such a joy to watch. I remember in the late 90s and early 2000s his 58 and 59 goal years were crazy being in the dead puck era. That was a high amount during the time. I remember laughing he had like 58 goals with hardly any assists that year. One of the best players ever

I watched the Panthers whenever they came to the Northeast during this time. Bure was a lot of fun to watch. He was a huge cherry picker who made his other four linemates work incredibly hard to get the puck to him, but a lot of fun. Peter Worrell backed him up too whenever other players on other team would try to be physical with him.

It's crazy how little there is of him on the panthers. You would think all that canucks footage would be harder to find since its older. They were the better team though so I guess that's why. Didn't Bure still hit 50 goals in Florida though? You'd think there would be something

The dead Puck era was a from 99 to 2004. It was a great time for goalies. Marty turco had a gaa of 1.6 at some point. But for players it was literally the hardest time to score goals. In the 2004 season nobody score a hundred points. The NHL realize this and decide to make some rule changes. Thus the lockout in 05. In 2006 about six players end up getting a hundred points just like that. The offense sprouted, keep in mind Crosby and Ovechkin benefited from these rule changes it was their first season. To put it into perspective of how much those rules benefited today's athletes. In 2004 Joe Thornton had 73 points in 77 games, in 2006 he had 125 points in 80 games.

Good vid. I'm still lookin for about 170 Panthers goals of his that do not seem to exist on TH-cam lol. Bure had something like 5 or 6 games that I could watch during his 4 years with the Panthers, and I'm from Vancouver!
I have to say though, that empty net goal against the Kings near the end of the video, I have not seen anywhere on TH-cam yet. Where did you get that one?

    • @imuzi1061
