      @@StephenDoty84 You can't really make any comparaison tbh I'm a 25yrs DRW fan but Bure is my fav player of all time.
      Dats was finesse agility and godlike set of hands while Bure was incredible power , mind blowing speed and also being to deke at his top speed was a talent in itself 😅
      Though i would have love to see him in this modern NHL. 70 goals wouldn't have been an exaggeration since he scored 58&59 where the trap was king, hooking a joke and the 2 line pass.

      Connor McDavid is an inferior goal scorer to Bure.

    • @tmeo9712
      @tmeo9712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Michael-fw5ef Wow, inferior? Let's see, Wayne Gretzky - "The Great One" had 2x as many assists as goals, and made his teammates as good as they can be. Getting back to your assertion: BURE played in 702 career games and had 342 total assists. In less than half that time, McDavid already has 307 assist (35 less) and 162 goals (-275 goals). But, BURE only scored 100+ points twice in his entire career. Considering McDavid has literally played EXACTLY 50% of the games BURE played in his career, he already has three 100 point years and a 97 point year. That would already BEST Bure's 4 best seasons. Goal scoring alone does not make a player, look at Bobby Orr, Gretzky, Howe, Messier, McDavid, etc. They were also far different times. It was much easier to be "faster" 15-20 years ago than today when everyone trains at higher levels with much more stringent and harder rigors to get to the NHL. The average player today is 3 steps faster than players 15 years ago. Look at the NHL all start game for proof. Each year players are getting faster, and the younger they are, the faster they are getting. So, BURE had more goals simply because he was much faster than his teammates and often ran out of players to pass to, but was considered a "puck hog" to many of his teammates. McDavid, as skilled and entertaining as he is, is already showing his class by making players better around him while racking up amazing statistics. No player will ever put up 200 points in a season again, it is not that kind of game...Gretzky was rare in that respect. But, ASSISTS may be the more important statistic when looking at championships as the greatest players in history ALL had more assists than goals. ALL of them. Bobby Orr had nearly 3x as many assists as goals. Amazingly, Orr (considered a great goal scorer of his time) only had 270 career goals, but 645 assists. Today, would 270 goals make you a hall of famer? Maybe. He also played 12 seasons. Bobby Orr scored over 100 points 6x in his career - half his seasons - but the reason was not goals - it was assists. The most goals he ever had in a season was 46.

      @daliborkumr2877 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tmeo9712 Of course, Bure is superior to McDavid in goal scoring. Connor lacks killer scoring instincts like Pavel had.
      But Connor is perfect playmaker.
      Yep, "average" todays player has much more skills and speed than "average" player in 90´s. But top players are another story. Give Fedorov, Bure or Gartner modern equipment and they will be fast as hell. And one notice, pure speed is quite good thing, but without hockey IQ and other skills is almost useless. For example Bure, he was amazing with agility and exceptional lateral movement, unexpected changing of the direction. In miliseconds he explored possibillities and looked for free space. A lot of modern player are very fast, but they often skate in one direction. From modern players i like for example Barzal, his skating is very agile and versatile.

      @@daliborkumr2877 McDavid is a better all around player, hands down. He is more skilled playing with more skilled players of his day - and given the talent NOW, that is saying something. Bure did not move tickets like McDavid does. He is the Michael Jordan of the sport.

    Mysteriously he scored most of his career total 779 pts in just 5 seasons (110, 107, 94, 92, 90 = 493 points), then faded out. Pavel would score 277 points over his remaining 7 years (averaging just 39 points per year). Whether it was his partial seasons, injuries or lackluster teams - what was so promising with his first 3 years faded fast. Obviously something was not quite right with his health or wanting to play - for a player who could score at will.

    • @sibbyeskie
      @sibbyeskie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What are you talking about? His last two years with Rangers averaged out to a 50-goal a year pace. His knees basically were ready to crumble if he took one more hit to them. That's the reason he retired. Can't think of another player who somehow maintained skill despite health issues except perhaps Lemieux or Orr. Nobody thinks those guys faded either...

    HIs stick handling is not superior to McDavid imo. I think McDavid is the hardest working player off the ice and will have a much longer career, even with the dangerous injuries he has already experienced that Bure did not. The game is 100x more physically demanding and players much, much larger and faster overall than the 1990's. The average defenseman is as fast as the forwards of that day. Yes, equipment and weight play a part in this, height and speed play a part, talent and drive play a part, but I do not think Bure is faster than McDavid. Even if he was, McDavid's stick skills are superior.
    McDavid has sort of proven this point in NHL skills contests where he is pitted against the fastest players in the league, year after year, and with the exception of Barzal beating him by a few hundredths, even when he slipped, McDavid is still viewed as the fastest player by everyone. On top of that, Bure played against far less superior athletes than today.
    Bure was great for his day, not unlike Gretzky, Lemieux and others, but they are not McDavid imo. Bure was indeed the "Russian Rocket," but McDavid is the Canadian Cannon.

    • @funtimes8296

      The game is not more physical today than the 90s and the players are not bigger, those are both factually incorrect. However McDavid is a better skater and more skilled player than Bure besides shooting the puck. Their speed with the puck was pretty close but edge to McDavid.
