Sometimes I just like quiet with window open and listen to the outside noise of the country
I always have something on in the background: a 24-hr news channel or an audio book or podcast (those are often quilt related!)
I watch quilting videos and listen to audiobooks. Sometimes , however, I just enjoy the quiet and my own thoughts !
I usually listen to audiobooks while sewing, especially because I do a lot of English paper piecing and they go together so well. Afternoons on my porch with iced coffee, stitching and an audiobook are ideal for me.
Quiet is good with 5 adults living in my humble abode. Sometimes ear plugs with some GOOD music. 👍🤠🥰
I listen to quilting podcasts, watch quilting videos, or listen to reruns on TV!
I’m also obsessed with Roar! My 3 year old grandson LOVES Dino’s and of course his mama (my daughter) has incorporated them into everything. Because he’s a bit young to appreciate Tula’s renditions I am making things for my daughter and me. We want to be cool Mama and cool Mimi! I’m making tote bags for both of us with the teal border print fabric and I’m making scrub caps for my daughter who is an ob-gyn surgeon using as many of the Dino prints as I can! She loves them! What a fun line for grown up Dino lovers!!!
I am obsessed with that jacket! It's on my list for this year.
Usually when I sew it's late at night or during nap time. The joys of having small children 🤣
Generally I'll put on a movie I've seen a million times or an audiobook, love to be read to. Other times I just love the quiet.
I listen, mostly, to my '60's music. Just love it!
I listen to 60’s classic rock!
music is my favorite, xm radio is commercial free... love it
That’s looks better! I was nearly jumping through the screen again when you first laid it out!
I typically will put something on the tv to have on in the background but it can’t be too interesting because I don’t want to be too distracted from my sewing time 😂. I love Tula and have been trying to come up with a quilt for those dinos because they are just so awesome.
Today I was sorting fabric. Ususally I watch a movie or listen to a podcast. I have made the "cafe" tea cup stack with sunflower fabric for my kitchen
I usually listen to true crime podcasts while I’m sewing. Sometimes I have a TH-cam video that I listen to. Tea day is everyday for me, because I drink a pitcher of iced tea every day.
I usually watch TH-cam videos in my sewing room--especially longer videos from other quilters that I'm subscribed to. For example, last Friday's video from FQS was 2 hours long where Kimberly interviewed Sherri and Chelsi from A Quilting Life. It was a great interview, and I was able to get a lot done while listening/watching. I also watch movies and listen to music. That's what I like to do while sewing so I can multi task BUT your videos get my full attention in the mornings with my coffee, vitamins, and twinkies. 😊
I haven’t made a tea-themed quilt, but I did make a beer-themed one for my nephew. Lol
I think about listening to music or a book but usually get involved with my sewing and end up with quiet while I sew 🙂 Watching you arrange the blocks on Pressed Flowers reminds me of arranging the blocks on my Autumn Wonders. Learned it from you, Pat. I am doing so much better thanks to you.
I like listening to music while I sew
I’m a big dinosaurs fan. I love the border print. I’m now getting done to make a top. Nerdish girls love them. I was obsessed with them in grade school, so glad I was raised without gender bias.
I've forgotten about Tuesday's Tula Talks on Instagram! Thanks for sharing your obsession. I'm so glad you checked your layout before stitching those blocks. Ugh... nothing worse! I've learned from you the importance of taking a photo and looking at it on the design wall. Your quilts are both looking amazing! I'm sure your longarmer will squeeze you in. 😘 Can't wait to see it in your changing of the quilts rotation for July!
If I'm not skyping with my quilting friends, I have you tube or the TV on.
I like to listen to True Crime podcasts, audio books, or the radio while I sew. Sunday is a favorite day for the radio because we have a station that plays “Sunday Sounds” of inspirational music. So peaceful. Also, like another’s comment, I like the quiet and my own thoughts sometimes. I love Tula Pink’s Roar fabric! I’ve got to go out and get some and make pillow cases for my three grandsons. Oh my gosh, they would love them! Thanks for all you do to teach us.
I listen to quilt tutorials, audio books, radio or TV while I sew.
I mostly listen to audio books and occasionally will watch quilting videos on TH-cam.
I listen to audiobooks or listen to my music collection. If I am hand quilting, I watch mysteries or history documentaries. If I am not sure what I am doing, everything is off so I can concentrate on my problem.
Thank you so much for sharing your thought process with the flowers quilt. It was soo helpful to us newbie quilters. I'm so glad you caught the lantern block too. I was "screaming" NOOO. hehe I typically listen to TH-cam Quilt videos while I sew.
I listen to/for the grandkids. Never a dull moment at our house! We're a multiple generation family & I love it!
Great video, Pat Sloan. Enjoyed the lanterns & flower blocks. Have a great evening & I'll catch you tomorrow. 😊
I listen to audiobooks, music, or TV- unless I have to do serious quilting math :)
I usually have the radio playing. If I have the television on, I tend to get distracted and stop sewing. If I am hand quilting, then yes, will have the television on.
I listen to my music playlist and at my pressing station I watch the birds out my window. I have a bird bath and feeder there. Hoping for hummingbirds this summer.
I have my radio on when I'm in my sewing room.
Great video. Appreciate your discussion on block placement. Although the blocks are all purples it makes such difference .
My happy place is to sew to classical music .
I love her intricate designs! And how bright her fabric is
When I'm in the sewing room I listen to books and sometimes I need to watch a video to know what I am doing.
Oh, thank goodness you checked the diagram. Bc I was confused!
I sew in silence❤
Watching you and drinking my red raspberry tea this morning
Whew ! So glad you saw the block placement error. Why can't you hear us when we tell you? When I listen to anything, it's mostly audiobooks or music. Life is Good has some really cute T-shirts. Thanks for the heads-up.
I bought a few pieces I'd this line for my granddaughter to make pillowcases bc she loves dinosaurs. She's almost 3
I do listen sometimes to quilting and floss tube
So glad you fixed before sewing!!
The lantern quilt is looking so pretty
Audio books for me-easy storylines, not murder mysteries with lots of twists. Sometimes TH-cam and podcasts…
TY for sharing Pat! Love the purples in your Press Flowers quilt. I completed mine in the original colors and love the way it finished out.
Not a “fall all over myself” Tula lover, as many are, but I did like 3 designs from the bundle you shared. I’m the same way with Kaffe😂😂 Enjoy your week💕🧵
I either listen to TV, radio,or record player!!
Usually have tv on, just noise for companionship
I listen to the radio. I also have listened to audio book. I usually am washing clothes or sheets and so I am also listening to that! Lol not really my appliances are quiet. But nice to get two things at once
I usually listen to the TV while I am sewing.
I listen to music. Piecing: Frank Sinatra. Free motion: pop from 50s .
I’m eventually going to have to make that Evergreen/Lanterns pattern. It looks fantastic! I have a few other projects to complete before I buy still more patterns and/or fabric. I did buy the Simply Jelly Rolls book and an extra yard of a gorgeous blue fabric to have enough background for the sampler starting in June. I need to wind up a few other projects to make room in my sewing room and my head for more. Indigo Way and Festivals and Fireworks tops WILL be finished by the end of June…maybe… lol!
I loved watching you move the blocks around to “feel better” to you! I do the same thing - talking myself through it all!
I listen to documentary style shows and movies. My daughter has suggested I check out podcasts. Maybe I will own day
Those 2 quilts are looking so pretty.
I listen to either a movie I’ve seen many times so I don’t have to watch or a historical video on TH-cam that doesn’t have a lot of picture that I have to see to follow the story
I listen to the Golden Age of Radio. I like Johnny Dollar, Dragnet (yes it started on radio) and other mysterys. Also, Westerns like Gunsmoke or Jimmy Stewart as The Six-shooter.
I used to listen to audio books, but I had to pause it when I was actually sewing. My trusty Bernina is kinda loud. ;-)
I listen to audio books from my county library and from the Philadelphia Free library. Both libraries are on line!
I listen to podcasts. That way, as I create, I’m also learning about all different topics😊
I listen to the TV in the background when I sew.
Hi Pat, it kind of depends on the time of day, but I like to listen to audiobooks, the radio, or tv. If I’m watching tv, I need to make sure it’s not too involved or something that requires me to watch or the sewing doesn’t get done!
I have the Animal Planet channel on all day!
I'm not a dino fan, but my sister is, so I ordered Tula's fabric to make her something....a pillow, tote bag, not sure. I'll know when the fabric comes. Thanks Pat.
I listen to our local country radio station.
I love the colors in the pressed flowers.
Pat I love your paradise Laterns quilt!!! And your pressed flowers quilt is gorgeous too!!
I watch quilting videos while sewing. I love the colors of your pressed flowers. Normally I don't do purple but Im a new fan to go with all my greens
AMAZING. I love your Crush pattern. Never knew the name before. Knew it was in a holiday book but being in Canada, the book is way too expensive and I don't generally like "holiday" patterns so it wasn't an option to buy the book. I never knew you had a digital store on your website. I have studied that quilt on your wall over and over trying to figure out all the measurements of those blocks. As soon as you said it was a download, I paused the video and bought it. $5 USD what a bargain. I'm so happy!
Hi Pat, I listen to music while I sew. The pressed flowers are awesome. I'm like you on the lantern block, I would have had to fix it. Thanks for sharing
I listen to audio books, You Tube or TV. Sometimes put on a movie.
I always have music 🎶 on when I'm seeing.
I listen to audible books mostly. My book club book of the month, getting 2 things done at 1 time. Makes me feel productive, lol.
I loved her animal ones and I missed out on those, but I’m not a dinosaur fan so this group I’ll be passing on
Hi I have made several dinosaur quilts. All the kids love them!
Loved watching you arrange blocks. Thanks for all the design tips.
My favorite thing for learning the creative process.
He usually have music on or an audible book
Love the lanterns quilt. Reminds me of Firecrackers and Stars, patriotic. Nice job Pat. The fabrics are perfect.
I listen to amazon prime films
I usually have a TH-cam video or movie playing on my iPad while I sew, but the noise of the sewing machine drowns it out, so I have to keep putting it on pause. I bought large pieces of the flowery fabrics from Roar! and a couple of dinosaur fat quarters. I’ll use the flowery fabrics for backing small projects that have Tule Pink fabrics on the front. I don’t usually mix Tula fabrics with other designers.
1. I watch TV while in the sew zone. 2. I loved you talking thru your block placement. I do lots of scrappy quilts that I fuss about placement for about a week. 3. I LOVE Roar. I have already been roped in to a graduation quilt for my niece. and I’ll have to include some dinos in my upcoming quilts.
The placement analysis is a matter of what looks best to each person. There are so many features to consider, color, shape, density, that it's impossible for ther not to be common elements next to each other. I think i would have kept it the original diagonal color match way. And truly "random" arrangements will sometimes have like things next to each other.
Lucky for us, Quilting allows you to do what you like, and me to do what i like! It is fabulous like that
I listen to music and podcasts while I quilt. My lanterns quilt be different as I bought a fat quarter set of Paradise Park, so I don't have enough of any of the fabric color, but I'm OK with that.
it will be fabulous!
I watch you and other You Tube quilters. Sometimes I listen to podcasts about TV shows or books. The Paradise Lanterns are looking wonderful! Mary Rose
I almost always have an audiobook on when I sew.
I watch quilting videos or listen to quilting podcasts. Just started with one audiobooks. I use to be a voracious reader, but my dries eyes has inhibited my reading.
Actually I just finished a 1976 Bicentennial Quilt. My husband had freehand liquid embroidered the squares. It was never completed because it was huge. My 17 year old grandson longarmed it and we gifted it to my stepdaughter. He made me promise never to do a quilt that large again.
Reminds me I have a 1976 quilt still in pieces. It was cut with cereal box cardboard templates, yes, it was! I will get it done because it was my first quilt. Has handwritten instructions, too.
I listen to music.
❤❤❤
Switch the red and blue on the bottom row
Hi I listen to True Crime !
I listen to CDs, the radio, or audio books.
Ooo…I may do the Besties line in your crush pattern
I liked it the planned way! Have fun playing with those blocks!!🤪
Bottom row - I'd move the pinwheel one to the middle, so the two roundish ones aren't right next to each other.
You tube or the news while sewing.
Well done with the extra lantern block 😊
I love all of your videos, and want to make everything you make. But not enough time or $ for all the fabrics & patterns. But i also donate some quilts every year. But i only ever received 1 income tax receipt for the value of a quilt for a children’s bed organization. Do you get tax receipts when you donate your quilts OR do you specifically have to ask for them? Thanks,
Good morning everyone
Don’t overthink the block arrangement
Good morning all from Dallas Tx.
