16:20 While Kyubey is a jerk, the soul in jewelry seems a bonus. After all pain can prevent action, so it helps the girls in their missions. The witch system is the real evil of the deal.
I wanna delve a bit into one of the honorable mentions. I think Hyakimaru's dad could go onto the worst anime parents list for valuing your power over his son. And it wasn't just making a deal with one devil, it was making one with... 48, if I remember correctly. But there is something kinda cool that I notice about it: It's a bit of a cross between Rumpelstiltskin, Pinocchio and Doom. You got the "trading your child for prosperity" aspect of Rumpelstiltskin, and the "turning from doll to human" thing of Pinocchio. But instead of honesty that turns him human, it's killing demons!
I'm surprised you didn't do a reference to the Faust myth, since it's one of the biggest examples of making a deal with the devil stories ever. And believe it or not, Madoka Magica' story was very influenced by the Faust myth, especially with Homura and Madoka.
How did the power of Geass not get an honorable mention? You eventually lose all control of your power, which can seriously limit your interactions with other people.
Referring to #10 I once read in a fanfic this “when trying to play god it’s not a matter of equivalent exchange it’s a matter of giving up enough to come out alive”
in Misa's case, i remember that with Gelus' sacrifice to keep her alive, his remaining life got transferred to hers. idk how long Gelus had, being a shinigami and all, but i would imagine that Misa would outlive most humans at that point. having her remaining years get cut in half twice, i think she may be back to normal life expectancy. if not for the final scene where she may have committed suicied
not really vampirism is not to be considered a deal with the devil its more like a curse like zombification except you dont be a mindless corpse but a superpowered undead

Huge black butler fan here But even i consider fair about 8th place because of a ton of benefits, but your soul be eaten by the time the deal is done Or if you don't tane the demon well enough, you know what you'll end up? Killed brutally and nearly eaten, just like Alois
hard to top Dgrayman though. with Black Butler, at least you get something out of the deal; but not with the Earl.he is the only one to get something out of the deal.
Also, my theory on the stick thing with Magical Girl Site is that the site admins give the sticks to girls(even though anybody could use them) who have more misery and misfortune in their lives as apposed to others. In other words, they all got the short end of the "stick". Get it? Cause the sticks are usually small and travel size, like the gun, phone, and yoyo?(the English translation of the manga called them wands so might as well go with that) Yeah Magical Girl Site(mostly the manga) is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's garbage but I somehow still like it so I appreciate you mentioning it. It'd be a good "what am I watching" review, food for thought 😏🤔
16:51 while this does somewhat work for the video it only works if you've only seen the anime **SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA AHEAD** All that characters in code breaker were born with a gene that would eventually awaken there powers at some point (much like mutants in x-man) and while there are methods to transfer your power to someone else you can only transfer your powers to someone that already has powers of their own
Reason why he isn't at the top is because at least Ciel got a hot butler who can do no wrong. Even fight against monsters and people who are the real monsters. Even as a HUGE black butler fan and has an anime crush on undertaker, I didn't think it will reach the top because of the benefits
Ciel got one Hell of a Butler (and in the second season of the anime became a demon himself so his soul couldn't be eaten, making Sebastian his permanent butler. I know this isn;t cannon, but still)

Not to mention the soul trapped in the akuma experiences great pain from the horrible actions it is forced to do and this misery is what causes the akuma to level up. Hence why when Allen looks at a lvl 4 Akuma he nearly vomits at the state of the soul.

Liking solely for D. Gray-Man being present. I wonder if it should be mentioned that the soul of the akuma suffers more with each level up and if not destroyed by innocence the soul is destroyed, but eh.
Unmentioned stories that may need to be on the list: Mermaid Forest - Generally talks about a legend in which eating mermaid flush makes you immortal. Only a few actually get immortality in the way expected. Most people die, but some become hideous monsters. My Hime - Characters are given great power, but if they ever lose a fight with those powers they will lose the person most important to them. Vampire Princess Miyu - Shinma are generally taking advantage of human weakness in most of these stories. Miyu's solutions are not exactly perfect, either.
Lets not forget the cherry on top for the deals in Dgrayman: The soul that comes back will curse and spite the summoner for enslaving them to the Earl, so the poor summoner gets one last little trauma before getting murdered

Do you mean that guy who owns a nightclub in LA? If so, the answer is no. You can ask some of the regulars at that place. Some of them may have done it.
"Anime Deals with the Devil" huh? The ones that immediately spring to mind are Sebastian from Black Butler and the Kyuubi from Madoka Magica. But I also think of Alucard turning Seras in Hellsing, even though Seras never *actually accepted* that deal, this one still seems like a deal with the devil. To go from an ordinary policewoman to an undead Vampire with the most insane psycho in all the world as your "Master" and equally nutty Catholic priests out for your blood? While I love the AxS pairing I still think Alucard was an ass here (sure he *had* to shoot through her to kill that vampire priest!) Can't wait to see who's Number 1! Love you Robyn 💙=^_^=💙 (Bad Tsumi!)
The Hellsing one doesn't really fit. Mostly because Seras wanted to live sure, but Alucard didn't put any strings on her survival and her loyalty to the Hellsing organization is less because she serves Alucard and more because she was a good hearted person that decided to become a cop to help society at large. So, take that person and give them super powers, then ask them if they want to keep going? The answer is more than likely going to be yes.
LupineShadowOmega you make good points, but Seras had no idea about Vampires being real or any of the supernatural hoo-hah until Alucard turned her. It wasn't really a "deal" anyway, I honestly think Alucard shot her *because he wanted to* cos let's be honest, with all of Alucard's dark powers you're telling me he couldn't have strangled that priest with his own shadow or something? I'm a fan of the pairing so I like to believe it's because he wanted Seras as soon as he saw her, but I can't say for sure. Only Kohta Hirano himself can and he himself said "we can't say for sure how they feel about it" regarding their relationship, so yeah I'm a fan of the pairing but I still say Alucard is a sneaky bastard for what he did. I'm actually more surprised that Integra let Seras live and join Hellsing, aren't they supposed to kill Vanpires, not make more??? 🤔🤔🤔 I know I'm nitpicking but this aspect of the show really bothered me. Thanks for the reply!
As far as Integra, it’s been proven that the best vampire hunters are vampires themselves. The problem is recruiting them, cause most don’t give a damn. So when you find a vampire that’s willing to work for you and is vouched by your most loyal subordinate, you take them in gladly.
@@LadyLeomon oh no, you're right he definitely didn't care. We've seen Alucard reform from a puddle, phase through matter, use mind control, basically if he wanted Seras to survive he could have done so. The issue though, is his utter and complete lack of humanity. So I assume it never even crossed his mind at the time. And it was only as she lay there dying that he decided turning her could be a interesting diversion from his usual boredom.
LupineShadowOmega and he himself said "it was a whim" when asked by Integra later that same episode, I think he grew genuine feelings for Seras later on (mentor pride or something similar) but at that moment in time he saw her as something he got on a whim, like a kid who wants a puppy for Christmas (I hate the comparison but if Seras hadn't adapted as well as she did then I think the result would have been even more unpleasant) Thanks ^_^
I would LOVE if they remade Pandora Hearts to keep up with the manga, but I doubt that'll ever happen. Plus the music of any remake or continuation could never match the perfection of the original.
Great video, but I wanted to share some slight corrections on the Pandora hearts stuff so the general reason most people make Illegal Contracts with Chains is because at the end of the day, if they consume enough people, they will be able to give their chains enough power to change the past. However, after using their power 12 times, they will be brought down to the bottom of the abyss, where once you are in it, you no longer become part of the 100 year cycle of incarnation, and instead anything living within the abyss become a chain after a certain amount of time. the whole "escaping from the abyss" thing wasn't a normal chain's power, but B Rabbit's, due to Spoiler reasons. worst part is, even if you do change the past, people's fates generally will not change, as a certain character found out. another thing you got wrong was how The Baskervilles were the ones regulating legal contracts, but that is slightly incorrect. Its Pandora who regulates the legal contracting system. the Baskervilles on the other hand have special rights when it comes to illegal contracts lets just say. id also like to shoehorn in- you should try to Read the Manga if you want to really get into the series. the Anime is very pretty and does pretty well, but only covers 1/5 of the story, so there is so much more awesomeness within the later parts of the manga.

I gotta fiddle of gold against your soul...
It's actually, i bet i fiddle of gold against your soul
I done told you once you son of a bitch that I'm the best there ever was - johnny
Best that's ever been
When it comes to Sailor Moon and making a deal with the devil the one that Dr. Tomoe made to save Hotaru’s life also comes to my mind.
Wow I can't believe there are this many deals with the Devil.....and none of them take place in anime Georgia
Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name. Would you be interested in a golden fiddle?😈
Give him some sympathy. He's been in anime Detroit (hazbin / hb hell) after getting a helluva high in Jamaica.
But the reason why it wasn't invovled is that if you control the power well enough it becomes a huge benefit
@@Mad-Hatter-ison that makes sense. I'll accept that answer.
I'm so happy to see D.gray-man in this!!!!! Literally my favorite anime of all time.
Referring to #10 I once read in a fanfic this “when trying to play god it’s not a matter of equivalent exchange it’s a matter of giving up enough to come out alive”
D. Grey-man is one of my favorites, but everyone seems to forget it. Love you guys!
Thank you for putting Pandora Hearts! It’s my all time favorite manga, it needs so much more love!
Kittkat0812 am I the only one who notice she must the part about changing the past in Pandora hearts?
in Misa's case, i remember that with Gelus' sacrifice to keep her alive, his remaining life got transferred to hers. idk how long Gelus had, being a shinigami and all, but i would imagine that Misa would outlive most humans at that point. having her remaining years get cut in half twice, i think she may be back to normal life expectancy. if not for the final scene where she may have committed suicied
Ciel is not Ciel. The Ciel we know is not the real Ciel. The older one who died is the real Ciel. We do not know the name of fake Ciel. So confusing
I think the girls get it, Robyn didn't read nor watch the catch up (she is at book of murder), no need to sprinkle more spoilers to her and the fans
THIS IS WHY I DONT READ MANGA!
@@randomhooman8402 i'm gonna wait till the whole "book of cult" and "twin Ciel" thing is over before I pick the manga back up.
@@Shadamyfan-rs8xc I'm afraid that won't be over anytime soon the twin Ciel thing is definitely gonna stay I'm not sure about the book of cult
@@randomhooman8402 oh. Well that sucks, because I hate the "real" Ciel.
Kyubey!!!
I really missed that little bastard on this show
God I love that Tsumi, just the best character, always get a hilarious moment every time he pops in....little marshmallow what a riot
Would Alucard from Hellsing count, as he gave up his humanity to be an invincible vampire king?
not really vampirism is not to be considered a deal with the devil its more like a curse like zombification except you dont be a mindless corpse but a superpowered undead
No he gave it up to be a monster and never wanted another one to come into existence like him so long as he lives
@@kishinasura1989 exactly my point it ain't a deal with the devil if there is no devil
@@themidnightbanshee5927 Not all devils on the list are literal devils. Although Alucard and Seras still do not qualify, because they got exactly what they where asking for without any ironic twist and their creators did not expect anything unreasonable in return.
@@schwarzerritter5724 I know I wasn't being literal with the devil part
Thank you for at least MENTIONING Magical Girl Site, despite how awful it is.....
Melon Tart Awful anime or something else?
I never saw the anime, just some clips and man that girl really needs a hug and some girl time 😭.
I haven't seen the anime but I've read up to vol 5 or 6 in the manga. Pretty messed up and depressing story but it's got me hooked.
The manga was better
Awfulness is the way of Bubsy 3D.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The only magical girl anime where the main characters die
For me, Sebastian would be number one because it’s an iconic scene and Black Butler is a great show :)
Huge black butler fan here
But even i consider fair about 8th place because of a ton of benefits, but your soul be eaten by the time the deal is done
Or if you don't tane the demon well enough, you know what you'll end up?
Killed brutally and nearly eaten, just like Alois
hard to top Dgrayman though. with Black Butler, at least you get something out of the deal; but not with the Earl.he is the only one to get something out of the deal.
Black butler isnt that good, read the manga and you'll be satisfied
@@diylubeI’ve read all the manga so far of black butler
That Displate thing looks pretty cool. I’m gonna check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
Also, my theory on the stick thing with Magical Girl Site is that the site admins give the sticks to girls(even though anybody could use them) who have more misery and misfortune in their lives as apposed to others. In other words, they all got the short end of the "stick". Get it? Cause the sticks are usually small and travel size, like the gun, phone, and yoyo?(the English translation of the manga called them wands so might as well go with that)
Yeah Magical Girl Site(mostly the manga) is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's garbage but I somehow still like it so I appreciate you mentioning it. It'd be a good "what am I watching" review, food for thought 😏🤔
One of the top ten animes that made people say "WTF"?
16:51 while this does somewhat work for the video it only works if you've only seen the anime
**SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA AHEAD**
All that characters in code breaker were born with a gene that would eventually awaken there powers at some point (much like mutants in x-man) and while there are methods to transfer your power to someone else you can only transfer your powers to someone that already has powers of their own

Kyubey: “ Contract?”
Me: “ Sorry Kyubabe, already sold it.”
Kyubey: “ To who?”
Me: “ Disney.”
Kyubey: “ To who?”
Me: “ the mouse.”
Kyubey: [Backs away]
Theres GONNA ne Sebastian as number 1 otherwise I am sueing
Few minutes video in: ok well at least hes on list
Reason why he isn't at the top is because at least Ciel got a hot butler who can do no wrong. Even fight against monsters and people who are the real monsters.
Even as a HUGE black butler fan and has an anime crush on undertaker, I didn't think it will reach the top because of the benefits
Ciel got one Hell of a Butler (and in the second season of the anime became a demon himself so his soul couldn't be eaten, making Sebastian his permanent butler. I know this isn;t cannon, but still)
Honestly, Ciel practically got a very good friend who just happens to be a demon. Compared to most of the others, he got it pretty good
I use this website and they have awesome anime posters!! They also will take your personal photos and print them on the metal they use. My bf has a few pictures of his daughter printed this way and was so happy they did that
Early??
Hey Robyn... I am a big fan and i really love your work here. Please can you make a top 10 anime moments that went too far. Just a suggestion.
I think they mostly take on Patron requests, but asking on here still helps though.
Oh my god! I did not expect that number one (D.Gray-Man is one of my favorite animes!). This list was so amazing! I love it, keep up the great work!
I didn't even consider it Pandora Hearts but if you read Xerxes back story you can see how it can go wrong in many ways, btw thank you so much for having D.Grayman and Pandora hearts on your list

To quote Linkara: "THIS COMIC SUCKS!!!"

@Qwerty Bastard Yeah, focus on drying my hair or watch it to the end
The only time I've seen a deal with the devil gone right us when Issei died, revived by Rias, and is now swimming in hot chicks who would do anything for him even get naked.
Reason why this wasn't included is because to him it is more of a benefit than a curse
But that's not a "deal with the devil" a deal with the devil is when when someone or something grants your wishes but you have to sacrifice something. The only thing he sacrifice was his humanity, but he didn't actually sacrifice it.
D. Gray man is my absolute favorite anime and I'm so excited it got number one here. It's absolutely great.
as two videogame dish brothers once said "don't deal with the Devil"
Not to mention the soul trapped in the akuma experiences great pain from the horrible actions it is forced to do and this misery is what causes the akuma to level up. Hence why when Allen looks at a lvl 4 Akuma he nearly vomits at the state of the soul.
Do you think Junko and The Millennium Earl would be best friends because they both love despair?
"What is my life!" My favorite part in the beginning haha
How am I just now realizing Ariel sign Ursula’s contract USING A FISH SKELETON!?! I’ve seen “The Little Mermaid” several times. How did I not realize that detail before!?! I guess I was too busy listening to the song Ursula was singing at the time.
I had a feeling D.Gray-man was going to be number 1 because it's so true! Allen's the only one who actually survived that so he knows that firsthand. Good list.
Sayaka: "Why didn't you tell us?"
Kyubey: "You didn't."
Devil: Now you''re going to deal with ME!
Me: Nope *puts on cool glasses*
Devil: OH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *gets destroyed by the amount of light from my glasses*
Me: Now that's what I'm talking about!
Sailor Mars: Where did you come from?
Me: You'll never know since I didn't want to deal with him.
Please do a top 10 gods and goddesses in anime list! There are plenty of options out there. Just off the top of my head, there is Madoka (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Arceus (Pokémon), Deus Ex Machina (Future Diary), Jesus & Buddha (from that one where they share an apartment), Truth (FMA/FMAB), the Egyptian God cards (Yu-Gi-Oh!), Ryuk (Death Note), and so on.
There is actually an elder god in death note. His notebook can kill one person repeatedly.
Now you two became the dealers to Tsumi
Oh for those who hadn't read the Black Butler manga, you would gag when you found out what happens to these twins before they were caged until the ceremony came.

Second Wish: I wish for the knowledge required to master the world's magic system to be readily available.

Also in D gray man the Earl also owns the summoned dead person's soul and they cant deny any order that is given to them.
WOW!
Me and my siblings love Full Metal Alchemist so much that whenever we see something expensive we said, "It'll cost an arm and a leg and my brother's soul in a suit of armor."
Liking solely for D. Gray-Man being present. I wonder if it should be mentioned that the soul of the akuma suffers more with each level up and if not destroyed by innocence the soul is destroyed, but eh.
Am I the only who thought that when the static came, Somecallmejohnny's intro would pop up?
I knew it I knew it I knew it I knew my one of my favorite animes with being number one I knew after I watch the honorable mentions
Unmentioned stories that may need to be on the list:
Mermaid Forest - Generally talks about a legend in which eating mermaid flush makes you immortal.
Huh ciel has a brother .. neat
Also whooo hell girl is in here!!
But if you read the manga, prepare to have the book punch you in the stomach
Dark Fairy I said I didn’t know that bout the black butler but I was happy about hell girl on the list
The little bit at the end was hilarious. Keep up the good work! Your videos have always brought joy to many of us. :)
That one dislike is from Louise because she is literally the devil
Lets not forget the cherry on top for the deals in Dgrayman: The soul that comes back will curse and spite the summoner for enslaving them to the Earl, so the poor summoner gets one last little trauma before getting murdered
My favorite anime got first place! Day made!! 😻😻😻
Same here, I almost had a stroke😂 i somehow didnt think of it and was sooo surprised I gasped out loud

my favorite anime came in second place
Out of all the videos I have watched by Anime America, this is my favourite.
I love this video, mainly because of the ending. I love the parts that are created just for entertainment that appear before and after the list.
This set of clips in particular was extremely funny

I was worried that D-graymen wasn't going to make the list, thank you for remembering it.
I am just so disappointed in myself for not remembering my most favorite anime for number 1! 😭 I love D. Gray Man! HOW?! How could I forget!?
Other anime:
>made a deal with the devil.
>dies, goes to hell, etc.
>dealer gets all the juice.
PMMM:
>made a deal with the devil
> *actually* became God.
>or became a *worse* Devil.
>dealer became the slaves of said Devil and forced into living the hell they once caused.
What about wixoss???
why magical girl site got both 3rd place and honorable mentions?
She wasnt third place. It had potential to be beside Madoka
Also if Robin contracts with Kuybei, she will be too busy hoarding greif seeds to make videos.
The Earl of Millennium looks like Penguin from Batman
I am not sure if anyone ever corrrected this but Full Metal Alchemist Ed keeping Al's soul didn't cost him an arm and a leg it cost him his arm his Leg was taken for the Human Transmutation
Have you ever danced with the Devil in the Pale Moonlight?
Yea, we dated once, but then he got a restraining order and won't answer my calls. Says I'm creepy. (if anyone knows the card game abridged series this is from, leave a like)
I once ended up standing on the moon with the devil :-(
Do you mean that guy who owns a nightclub in LA? If so, the answer is no. You can ask some of the regulars at that place. Some of them may have done it.
Some/most of hell girl's dealmakers didn't even deserve to live in hell.
It's kinda sad actually.
Living in hell for justice
But if the cost were purgatory for a finite amount of time, way more people would take up the offer.
While I love the AxS pairing I still think Alucard was an ass here (sure he *had* to shoot through her to kill that vampire priest!)
Can't wait to see who's Number 1!
Love you Robyn 💙=^_^=💙
(Bad Tsumi!)
LupineShadowOmega and he himself said "it was a whim" when asked by Integra later that same episode, I think he grew genuine feelings for Seras later on (mentor pride or something similar) but at that moment in time he saw her as something he got on a whim, like a kid who wants a puppy for Christmas (I hate the comparison but if Seras hadn't adapted as well as she did then I think the result would have been even more unpleasant)
Thanks ^_^
I've got two of my coworkers now watching D. Gray-Man with me.
I would LOVE if they remade Pandora Hearts to keep up with the manga, but I doubt that'll ever happen. Plus the music of any remake or continuation could never match the perfection of the original.
Great video, but I wanted to share some slight corrections on the Pandora hearts stuff
so the general reason most people make Illegal Contracts with Chains is because at the end of the day, if they consume enough people, they will be able to give their chains enough power to change the past.
On the Death Note, no. My soul is more valuable than any power.
Travis Walls that’s the spirit! Finally someone gets it!
Hey, that was from Pete's Dragon... nice. :D
