  • Between 30-50% of Catholic marriages in the Archdiocese of Baltimore are now held outside of a Catholic parish and outside of the Mass.

When I first saw the Nat’l Catholic Reg. article about this, especially the “No Mass” rule, it made me puke. With Traditionis Custodes, an outdoor TLM wedding could be allowed and not in a parish church! If you’re going to have the trouble of getting a priest to come to your wedding venue, you might as well have a Nuptial Mass. It’s a waste of a priest. (Full Disclosure: I’m in my early 30’s, still waiting for my Catholic 👰‍♀️. I’m the only remaining Catholic in the family, and if heaven sends her, I’m having a TLM, I DON’T CARE what they think!)

Isn't it crazy the weird situation these rules have brought about!?

Weddings are a big pain. And every funeral is a canonization. People who have no faith, but still want an "aspect" of Catholicism? Why bless their pretensions? It is one thing to "play church" when a child is 4 years old. It is not for adults to play such games.

With a priest shortage, it's hard to imagine priests having the time to travel to wedding venues

Treating it like optional seasoning rather than the main ingredient

Unbelievable and a perfect example of nominalism. So desperate to bring people back to the Catholic Church when history time and time again demonstrates the Church grows stronger when Catholics witness and "set themselves apart" from the ways of the world. (hagios in Greek (άγιος) to set apart, sanctify, make holy; and marturia, 'martyr' (witness) μαρτυρία .
