It took a while to make as I had to go back over my old videos. I only wish I had started documenting it earlier so I could show the land before HS2 arrived. It was still worth doing and has been interesting to see the changes. Thanks for watching!
Cheers. I actually went to it with my school in 1983, I think. We must have walked because I remember being on the footpath along Oxford Road. That would have been from Elmhurst Middle School in Dunsham Lane which is a fair distance!
I'm loving the morning congestion leaving Aylesbury where there was non before. Nice work HS2. Truly outstanding and excellent value for money. (That's sarcasm).
You showed an Aerial photo of the Bucks County Show. The main field in the photo was the core area of the National Hunt Racecourse which closed in 1929. (The House then fell into disrepair, but that’s another story for you!) The Chase Challenge Cup race transferred from Aylesbury to Cheltenham after the last race in 1929 and it’s now run during the March Cheltenham Festival.
Thanks for the information. I am aware of horse racing go on where the Southcourt estate is now. I have some photos of it where lots of people are standing around with the grandstand in the background. It's so strange to think that went on as there is no trace of it now.
@@KarlVaughanthat land grab, tree and building demolition shortened the ancient avenue of (beech?) trees which used to continue on the Aylesbury side of the lodge. The lodge occupants acted as a deterrent against teenage misdeeds - their dog alerted them and they yelled at us!
Hi Karl, Can I kindly ask, where can I obtain copies of hisorical Aylesbury maps? Specifically I would love Walton Court area, but if you could point me in right direction that would be great!
NLS Maps is a website I use a lot. That's the National Library of Scotland. Their maps are freely available, which is amazing as their content is so detailed. Just click this link: maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16.6&lat=51.80453&lon=-0.81899&layers=168&b=ESRIWorld&o=18
Thank you for making this happen and all your work to make the video - History made and captured by you forever. Cheers Karl

Amazing to see the historical maps and images. Thanks Karl
Really enjoyed this video, especially the way you integrated the history. I moved here in 2007 so this is new to me.
Absolutely fabulous work Karl. I had no idea that the Bucks Show was in Hartwell !!

Sarcasm, But very true.
Excellent work, Karl. Knowing or researching the history of your local area is so important, I think. Keep 'em coming ...🚴♂
Cheers. There's plenty more to come!
Great summary, I really appreciate the time and effort you spent on this.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Karl, if's fantastic that you've captured this timeline for us all to see.
Glad you enjoyed it :)

Really enjoyed this. Lovely pace to the editing. Easy to follow the story. Thanks
Much appreciated!
Great work, Karl. Never knew there was a house where the Coldharbour roundabout stands.
Cheers. I remember the public outcry when the plans were announced to demolish Star Lodge. It was a handsome building.
