I first heard about Follow Your Arrow’s lyrics being in support of 🏳️🌈 community from reading NPR’s article on the 200 Greatest Songs By 21st Century Women+. Immediately, I went to find it to listen to the song for the first time and felt so accepted & embraced by it. Serendipitously, not long after, I stumbled on a copy of Golden Hour at my library after I learned about it winning Album of the Year. From the first guitar strums of Slow Burn and hearing Kacey’s clear voice cry out,
“Born in a hurry, always late
Haven’t been early since ‘88”
I was swept away & utterly entranced.
I adore both Golden Hour & Star-crossed and have subsequently gone back to catch up on Same Trailer, Different Park and Pageant Material and love them as well. 🙏 Thank you so much for these wonderfully earnest & beautiful albums. 💜💜💛💛💜💜

I think her different outfits represent going through different “seasons” of a breakup, and time passing. Spaghetti strap dress for summer, flowy sleeve dress for spring, flannel for fall and jeans jacket for winter.

My car was my therapist all through my 20’s for so many reasons. Just driving nowhere with music, tears and a cigarette.
I love how her facial expression doesn't change throughout the video. Even when she cries, she's like an emotional brick wall. Like she's not allowing herself to feel/ refuses to connect to her feelings. But in my experience, when you bottle up your feelings, you unknowingly express them in other ways. Seems like she was distracted by this unresolved breakup and it clouded her judgment in more important matters. So much so that she couldn't focus on driving...which lead her to not see the big truck on the road...
