I think how Nasu wrote Hakuno as Self-Insert and a Character at the same time is amazing, cus you can even see the little differences in personality's between his male and female counterparts, esp as story progresses and if you chose different Servants. Nasu's thing for writing good LN and VN content is really helps to pin it down in this case. Hakuno is one of my favorite self-inserts characters now if i think about it, huh.

Watching all the gameplay and hearing the ost while listening to the vid hit me with maaaaad nostalgia. I’m trying to hold off on replaying Extra until the remake comes out, but man, the review really makes me want to go back and give it another run, this game was like my whole middle school experience during lunch and after school lol. Great review!
I've seen a lot of talk about Extra recently and I:m having that same feeling. I want to play it again and re-experience the story, but at the same time I don't want to spoil my enjoyment for when it comes out. It really deserves more love! Thank you!
Just saw the trailer and made me even more impatient to play it again. Type-Moon really pulled out everything they had with the reveals today. It made me proud to be a Type-Moon fan.

I played his trial quest and he seems so fun to play with, especially when paired with Castoria. Good job on getting him NP 2! I was really surprised by how good the story actually was. I expected it to be decent at best, but turned out to be one of my favorites. Just need that remaster to give a boost to the gameplay and visuals.
I guess I'm just someone who cherishes original experiences over remakes, but I decided to buy a psp and a copy just to play it the way it was being played back in 2010. I even had to wind up buying a 2nd psp which will be here next week as my 1st one somehow bricked. Good to know the game will hopefully be an experience that makes the hassles worth it. Nice video as well, I really enjoyed it.
That's a good mentality to go into it. It has its charm, especially in the story department. Though it does have some problems along the way. Awesome review, I agree with basically everything that was said here. In general, I truly enjoyed the story of the game, with all it came through and characters like Leo and Julius were amazing; I also enjoyed Hakuno as a character, while he starts weak as a character, as the rounds go on he managed to geniuenly make me like him. I generaly play more with Male Hakuno because I like his desing more than the female one. Also... I see that someone has seen the light and has accepted Tamamo as the superior waifu...
It was a great experience, I was really surprised with the quality of the story telling. I have heard CCC has an even better story, but I really want to wait for the translation patch before playing it. What can I say, cute ears, fluffly tail, loving wife, and "Mikooon". 100% best girl
@@NeNeiSan Well, I have been playing CCC and, while I can't say anything about the quality of the story (due to the fact that I can't read japanese), I can at least say that the gameplay 'feels' less like a burden than this one, which is strange considering the fact that they are almost the same there, I guess that the level design and thee fact that the EXP rewards of beating programs aren't reduced when you level up... One last thing I can say is that the characters 'feel' more charismatic; it's a weird feeling that it wasn't present in the normal EXTRA, but even only understanding the context of the situation I can feel the scenes being more fun to watch even without completely understanding what they say (BB, for instance, is the biggest example of this; even without completely understanding what she says, she feels genuinely enjoyable to watch). Ah... Tamamo is honestly such a fun Servant to play with, she was the first Servant I choose and the one I completed the game with first.

I absolutely love this game, t's one of my favorite games ever, Hakuno evolves into such a great protagonist , and the story and soundtrack are great. I still only played 1 time tho, i want to play with the other servants too, i loved Rani/Nero's route, so i'm planning to start a Rin/Nameless run a bit later this year
Extra is one of those games that deserve so much love, everything besides the gameplay is immaculate. I've played it twice so far, one with Nero and Tamamo, I want to play it once more, but I'm going to hold off till the remake.
I feel one reason Fate/Extra gets some lower review scores, is people treat it like a game. Well, yes. It is a game. But to fully appreciate it, you need to look at it more like a Visual Novel with RPG elements, as I've seen one too many people criticize it for being to much "reading simulator"
The actual reading was my favorite part of the game. I agree with you with how it is more story driven than gameplay driven, and if you are going to go into, do it for the story. It's a shame to see people write this off when the story itself is a great one.
That's interesting, I haven't heard of much people getting in through Extra. I would feel like its a not a bad entry point either, just a bit limited due to the console it released on. Hopefully the remake gets a lot more people into Extra since its a great game.

Then once you have finished all 3 routes of Fate/Stay Night move onto the sequel Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, then finally either the Fate/Zero light novels or anime. If you are anime only- Start with Fate/Stay Night 2006, then Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, then the 3 Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel movies, and then Fate/Zero. This is considered the main Fate timeline. After you experience the 3 routes of Stay Night VN or anime and Zero, you can watch the spinoffs in whatever order that interests you. Fate is also apart of a shared universe called the Nasuverse. Other series within this universe are Tsukihime (Visual Novel), Kara No Kyoukai (Anime and Novel), and many more.
I'm currently playing through it at the moment, nearing the end of chapter 3! It has a lot of personality to it and love how it explores the concept of ego and psyche. I 100% plan to make a video of it when I complete it!
Despite its flaws, the Fate/EXTRA Series one of my favourite: the 1st wasn't easy, I picked Tamamo and as much as I love her she's hard to play XD, but I powered through it; EXTELLA was different but I still enjoy it, especially the story and music; Last Encore feel like a 600 pages novel crushed in 13 episodes but was interesting; CCC Fox Tail give Tamamo more presence and a rival which is awesome; and for CCC, while I know some Japanese, it was longer than the 1st is even more awesome. The only that doesn't speak much to me is EXTELLA LINK. They tuned up the muso very well compared to EXTELLA, but the story, music, and presentation doesn't keep me invested enough... But hey Charlie is pretty cool. And it might controversial but I prefer the EXTRA Series over the other Fate/ entries, especially stay night & Zero. Not to say there bad, by no means. I mean, I got to be on the moon XD.
