    When I first purchased my 100ah lithium batteries, the instructions said to fully charge the batteries individually on the bench, then connect them in parallel and let them sit for a few days. Sure enough. They balanced.

    Re: the leaky tank...I have a 2018 Wolf Pup that leaked with a full tank. Turns out Forest River didn't install an overflow hose connecting the tank's overflow connection to the overflow valve! I thought it was a mistake, but after some digging, I discovered it is/was common with the Wolf Pup, if not all Cherokees! Unbelievable! I installed a hose-no more leak.

    Thank you for doing this. I don't have an RV yet, but I am learning what I need to look for.

    What about the stench the hot months bring in those black tanks ? Isn’t that why they use the chemicals ??

    All commercial lithium batteries have a BMS that balances the internal cells, and which you have no control over. When you connect multiple batteries in series they will end up at the same voltage externally. Charging the batteries individually first will speed up the process of balancing.

    Yup. EXACTLY what’s happening with my Norcold 12v fridge. Can’t go through its cooling cycle even on fully charged batteries. Throws an E3 low-voltage code every time.

      Would you purchase a 12v Norcold again? How long have you had yours?

    Greetings. I have an unrelated RV question for the experts, but I'm not sure where to post it. I hope you don't mind: I'm looking to purchase a new RV travel trailer and I'm not sure about what kind of ball mount I need. The manufacturer's rep said the model has a 22 1/4 inch coupler height. My receiver is at 16 inches. Based on this, I would assume that I need a mount with a 6 1/4 inch RISE. However, should I adjust to account for the weight of the trailer (basically, the hitch weight) as it would be applied when I have the trailer hooked up? I appreciate your advice on this very much.

    12 volt fridge not cooling - I agree with the recommendations but would add, the load of the compressor is higher on startup, meaning higher current draw. The manufacturer of the RV or the installer of the fridge may not have used a large enough gauge wire for the startup load. The higher startup current can cause a higher voltage drop across the wire leaving not enough voltage to start the compressor. As the compressor ages, it will likely require more start current.
    One way to check, if the wire is too small, would be to run a wire parallel to the original (both + and -) or to try a larger gauge wire by itself from the battery to the fridge if you have the skills.
    I had a similar problem with a cheap 1KW inverter. It would trip the over load circuit on startup.

    My RV refrigerator is a magic chef that runs on shore power as well as solar/battery. I have reset it a number of times troubleshooting it but after anywhere from 1 to 3 days, it just stops cooling! There is no access to the refrigerator from the outside. I’m hoping it’s just doesn’t have proper ventilation. I do hear the compressor running when I turn it on and I do hear a fan… I don’t know how many fans it has. But I’m tired of having to throw food away!!

    I was told years ago to add yeast occasionally to my Septic tank. I have been doing that from time to time for years and havent had any issues. Again this is a septic not a holding tank

    Glad our manufacturer used 8 gauge wiring for our 12v fridge.
    The fridge manufacturer recommended 10.
    Many have been using 12 or even 14 gauge wiring and putting them on the same circuits as lights which scares me.
    Ask the RV manufacturer what gauge of wiring with their 12v fridges they are using before you buy.

      What has your experience been with the 12v fridge? How long have you had it?

    Todd, you talked briefly about 12v fridge during this video. I'm currently researching such a purchase, but I keep hearing about issues and 12v fridges dying after the first year or two. Do you think the technology just isn't there yet?

    • @Robnord1
      @Robnord1 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They die because they are poorly made. 12V compressor type refers have been made for marine use for many years. High quality, well built units...and expensive. These new 12 models are a cheap version which will inevitably have high failure rates. I've been in business 26 years, am both a Dometic and Norcold authorized service center, and will not touch the 12V models (of any brand) other than replace entire unit or modify coach and install a real 2 way RV refrigerator. So it's not a case of the tech not being here yet, it's that RVers don't want to put several thousand into a decent unit.

    12 volt RV Fridge Title and you talk about toilet treatments?

    • @Robnord1
      @Robnord1 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Many techs (including Todd) and dealers just avoid/dance around the issues and questions about 12V refers. They don't want to offend owners who have chosen to get one of these poorly built , problematic units or manufacturers who have installed them. I criticize them, but I work for myself. The answer to the question about the water heater is No it Should Not.
    The treads are Pipe Treads. They are tapered and get tighter as you screw in the rod. You need to be careful not to over tighten and Crack the water heater tank👍

    Nope. Sorry guys. Your black tank is not a septic system. Your explanation of the flora breaking down things in the black tank is completely inaccurate.

    You know what is sad. You pay thousands for an RV, and then you turn on TH-cam and find out there's a better way 😂
