i used to wonder if it was possible to lose salvation. i had a friend who killed herself and i had thought for the longest time, if you didnt ask for forgivness before you died, that you were not going to heaven, even if you were saved. But the truth is the fact that once you are saved, thats it. Youre saved . Theres nothing you can do to lose your salvation.

Every person with whom I've spoken, who has been a member of a denomination that taught this, readily admitted that "forfeit" or "repudiate" is a better term to use, since what they really teach is that one has to make a conscious decision to renounce what one previously believed.

Pauls letter to the Christians in Corinth telling them and correcting them about sexual sin and other things was pointless if they could not truly fall away. Additionally Paul tells us to continue the race press on for the prize; well why should i press on toward it at all if i am going to get the prize anyway.

I don't want to enter the debate on whether someone could loose their salvation or not, but I will say that your arguments represent some very flawed thinking. Sin is bad for us, it is bad for our souls, for our relationships, and for our physical bodies. Whether we could fall away or not Paul would still urge us not to sin, because there is a better life available to us. We are not following rules to get a prize. The prize IS freedom from the bondage of sin.
