I still have an SS15. I used it for years for mowing, scraping and bushhogging. Despite what the author's feeling about Sears, these were great, tough little tractors. Many are still running today, 40 some years later.
this is a Roper tractor rebadged as a Sears tractor. Roper tractors haf very strong transaxles because this model also had an available 16 and 18 horsepower Onan engines that made crazy amounts of power and those rare and seldom ever failed.
Aha! I'm glad to see a video of this loader. I bought this loader but it didn't come with the diagonal support and I've been wondering how it worked. Great to see what is missing. Thanks for posting your video. I'm going to put my loader on a 1971 Elec-Trak E12s.
I am not sure what kind of tractor you are used to but I have 2 Sears st16 tractors with the same transaxle as your ss15 and one has the same kwik-way loader as the one you show here. Both of my tractors have very strong transaxles. They won't stop even after they dig a hole and get stuck in it with 300 pounds of extra weight plus myself on the back. There might be something wrong with your transaxle. These are tough little tractors in my opinion. Cool set up.....
This is the BEST tractor you could buy at the time . Sears bought out David Bradley . This tractor would pull your house . Take the trailer hitch off and put the 3 point hitch on it and then put the plow on it , put it in low range and you can't stall it out !!!!
Howdie Wondering if ya Could tell me what Ya Use for a Pump And How is it hooked up Thks again I Know ya Might not Have it any More Any Help wood Be Gratefully Apricated thks again for Sharin your Project
i have three sears suburban there nothing it could of pulled yet. I pulled a 2ton trailer over a 3ft mound like it was nothing try working on a John deer 318 those are a pain in the ass to work on
my guess is that you have either sold it or WILL NOT SELL? i'M LOOKING for a unit. either with loader or loader by itself. Either for a 2000 L 118 or a 70 something WHITE 18 hp. Plans will work also.( but have to be simple) A to B works best but when it goes to A,B, C OR D I GET CONFUSED.
There are more of those (weak) transaxles still running with no known issues and are very strong units. I started working on these back in 1970 and have only seen about two of them that needed repair. nothing weak about them. carry on.
You'll be sorry you sold that machine. I had the same one with duel wheels and weights and box weights too. Three point hitch , strong little machine . Mine with the chains was DERN near non stopable. My buddy wanted it so bad I finally gave it to him , well the dumb ass piney blew the trans yanking on tree stumps. I was passed for sure. But it's not worth a friend so all's well . But he don't get my tools anymore. Worse part I could have fixed it but he sold it to hide the proof. YUPP greatest tractor Sears ever sold.
Um.. Very well built tractors nothing wrong with them at all probably one of he best built garden tractors you can get. You have no clue what your talking about when you say there a pain in the a** to work on. Very simple well built tractor that should only need simple mataince if you treat them well.
sears suburban was the work horse back in the day it's a well built tractor compared to the crap we have today
