I've used Google Earth for years but was not aware of the Chrome version until I swapped out my dinosaur desktop for a Chromebox. I gave the Chrome version of Google Earth a try and was impressed, but was stumbling with the controls. Happily, while searching for Google Earth tutorials, I stumbled upon your site. This online Google Earth version offers many new and exciting options, however it is missing some functions such as : altitude, placing a mark anywhere, measuring distance (very confusing what it actually measures), the date of the view taken. I also can not figure out how an image can be added to a place. But over all, what a great learning tool. Thank you again for this tutorial.

i use earth to measure distance on landscape jobs. how can i continue to do this? do i need a differant version? google maps? google pro? please help thank you
Do all the Earth versions use the same backend db of images? Seems like the browser version doesn't have the recording and tracking features, measurement, etc.
Hi, how can I make the camera height above ground stay constant when I'm dragging the view around so that the camera flies over hills instead of bumping into them?
The icon to put a pin in the map could be more clearly marked so I don't have to watch a 17min video to find out how and still can't measure between point A and point B.

When you say the link doesn't open, are you referring to Google Earth itself? It should work in Chrome. Here's another link you could try, though: earth.google.com/

The old Google was better , I was able to place my hand GPS map over lay were I was walking on google maps and see were I had walked , I have no need to use this new thing. should have left some of the things from the old version, gone backwards in my view.

Yes I need measuring so the online version of google is pathetic. This is the dumming down of the world.
Can I myself add coordinates on web based Google Earth?
click and hold the actual scroll wheel for another (I find it more convenient) way of changing the 3d perspetive
