The best explained and demonstrated review of the Hilleberg Soulo on You Tube.
I have just purchased an RL Soulo in the same colour so your review was particularly relevant in helping me get the best out of it.
So far I have only put the tent up indoors to familiarise myself with its features.
Red pole last definitely makes attaching the clips easier.
The weight is a small price to pay for the assurance that this tent can cope with any weather that might be experienced
Thanks Tony! I’ve been very impressed with it since owning it, especially in some severe conditions. Peace of mind
one day... i will own a soulo!
I bought a Soulo in 2018-best darned tent I’ve ever owned. The runner up is a Holubar Expedition 4-season handmade tent that I bought in the mid-1960s and finally retired in 2016. Also a super tent. Actually wore it out.
Missing you're adventure's at sea , roll on spring and you are out on you're boat at sea again.
Thanks bud, going to Freedive at winter when it gets cold and see whats down there
Love mine, what a bomb shelter that thing is. Overkill for most of my trips but you never know how the weather can go and peace of mind is lovely when the wind picks up.
Absolutely bud! It got properly put to the test in my most recent video
Awesome, detailed review. Thank you from Australia!
I love mine. Never fails
Great video mate, proppa tent goals here 👌🏼🤞🏼
I still have a special place for my budget tents too 😎
Great vid mate. Just got a Soulo myself and testing out in the Peak District in a few weeks… Looking forward to it! Subscribed ☑️
Cheers bud! You won’t be disappointed mine survived 80mph winds 🫣
Wonderful Tent. Charlie from South Korea.
Good sensible review without faff
Here’s this tent in a storm, 80mph winds

Great vid mate, I would have a coronary at the price though
Sold a kidney so it’s all fine 😂
What is your go-to tent?
MSR Hubba NX
I have a berghaus peak 3.2 pro thats a fantastic compact tent with hydro head of 5000, but a lot of the time ill use my slumit gobi 3 for the extra space to hang with friends, and bring the berghaus, but ill only actually pitch it if it looks like heavy rain is coming
@@thephantom2man I often saw there I’m Millets and wondered if they were any good
Nice one mate. I’ve had a Berghaus Peak 3 man for about 8 years and it’s still going strong. 💪
Can’t go wrong with Berghaus
Great tutorial! Would you advise this one for a beginner backpacker? I am planing to spend most of my days in the Alps, even on some of the more peaceful snowy winter days... how bas IS the condensation issue? What about other models like Jannu or Allak 2? Cheers from Croatia! ;)
Condensation is always problematic in true four season tents. Although I’ve not had any issues.
The allak looks good! Not tried the jaanu.
I really like a 3FUL backpack from AliExpress it’s pretty cheap and solid. It’s frameless, you can see it in some of my videos. The gold standard is Osprey but a military Bergen does the job too
👍👍
Hey great in-depth video. I’m curious as to your comment saying “2022 model” I did notice something different to my version and that’s the little flap or tag of material at the end of the vent zipper.
I wonder if this is Hillebergs attempt at stopping water dripping through the zip clasp end during heavy wind and rain. My version definitely doesn’t have this, I had to seam seal mine to stop water egress.
Kind Regards Lee 👍
Hi Lee, thanks for that. I’m not entirely sure one of the only differences I saw was the door opening, previous versions clip to the pole I Beleive
@@AirbornePirates next time you’r out have a look. I would be interested to see if they have tried to fix a fault they wouldn’t admit to having.
I have to admit I’ve had a tit full of Hilleberg and their nonsense. One of the most expensive shelters in the world that leaks like a sieve 🤣 Saying that I’ve just gone and bought an Enan 🤣🤣🤣
The BL soulo has a 40D inner tent and 100D floor. The RL has a 30D inner tent and 70D floor.
Thanks Nasi! Appreciate that info 👍
Hi, great review/video. Subscribed 👍 Would you recommend this tent for 4 season bikepacking with a 6ft 3” old boy?
Yes you’d definitely fit inside. Depends if you need this sort of capable tent or something lesser with more room, perhaps an Akto
@@AirbornePirates ok many thanks, I will take a look 👍
It’s still one of the best…..
Looks great that. But anyway, where's them sharks ah Mr????
I came for teh sharks and have stayed for teh camping :)
Yes Jonny! Boat took a while to get in this year, next year we will get chumming! Didn’t receive any financial support so paying for everything myself 😬
@@AirbornePirates yeah, totally understood man. I was only pulling your leg. As Ryan said above though, I'm here for the lot now not just the sharks. Love it all and really appreciate your time and efforts as well as the cost of course. Maybe set up a patreon and 'buy me a pint/coffee' type thing? I'd certainly contribute. It's something I do for quite a few YT/Podcast creators. I much prefer to spend my money there on original and honest content then TV subscriptions. Anyway, thanks again and keep up the great work fella.
@@Ryan-vs2em Yep. Same fella. Good stuff isn't it!
@@getjonny6245 Thanks Jonny! Yes mate, I have considered doing this, appreciate you watching the videos, some of them are a bit random :) Who knew camping and great white sharks would be a thing!
Have you given up on great White's????
No defo not, this channel covers camping in the winter, as sea adventure isn’t viable with conditions
Would you reccomend biting the bullet on a Hilleberg for 4 seasons use? or to get something lightweight and cheaper like the MSR Hubba Hubba NX2 for 3 seasons use and in the future get something stronger like a Hilleberg for peace of mind
Nice review!
I’ve never used MSR but hear there are quality control issues and poor customer service.
I do fancy a Hubba Hubba NX2 myself for summer, hilleberg is a bomb shelter of a tent. But very expensive for what they are 🤷🏻♂️🙌
@@AirbornePirates that is exactly why I am hesitant to go with the MSR - Hilleberg is expensive but you get what you pay for!
@@ApiaryGaming I believe outdoor gear review recently reviewed them as a company
@@AirbornePirates cheers mate will check it out :) Might consider BA Copper Spur HV UL2 instead
hilleberg soulo carnt beat em .
Are you an Ex Bootneck?
Never been a commando buddy, huge respect for them, worked with a few of them 🇬🇧
@@AirbornePirates Your delivery and the use of the "Gucci" saying, reminded me of my days working with Booties.😄
Got an akto rather than the soulo as it looks dodgy cooking in the smaller soulo porch
Nice one, I’ve found the porch a good size, I do like the look of an akto
The real test is cyclist tourist on world tour i been wanting a that brand for years but the truth is there not as durable as you think … pole break and floor leak .. but saying that i guess other brand wouldn’t last half the time .. is worth the money thats the question
Why are you calling the ground the floor? Is that an English thing?
Guess what - ALL tents are hand made. The difference is whose hands are making it.
Yep and they have the name of who made them on the tag 👍
Where you been hidden
Busy busy, TH-cam is just a bit of fun for me 😎
