Very reasonable price considering the location and time of year. As a lover of salmon, that which you had looked excellent and clearly was, as you mentioned. The trip out onto the frozen lake was pretty incredible and great joy seeing Thumps having the time of his life. And, of course, equally great, that he and Gaby were, at last, able to be there with you.
Hey Tim, just FYI the Rovaniemi McDonald’s is no longer the world’s most Northern McDonald’s! It was overtaken by the new McDonald’s that opened Tromsø, Norway in 2024.

I stayed at the Arctic Light on one of the rooms right off of the elevator that looked like a "cage", at the end of the video. I found that room to be quite clean and lovely. It wasn't as large as your room and no skylights, but otherwise it was very nice with a wardrobe and cleaner than your room was. I found the staff to be very kind and accommodating. The front desk guy told me about Finnish cheese. They graciously packed me a breakfast of cheese on bread and croissants because I had a 6am meeting time for the ice breaker cruise. The location wasn't as central as the Hotel Santa Claus, but was still a short walking distance to everything, including the grocery store (which was near the mall). If your polar bear was offered for 12 euro, yours was a steal. I resisted the first night but by the second or third night, he felt like my buddy and I had to take him home - for 19 euro. I thought it was an unusual minibar item and yeah...I gave in. Right across the street was the fat tire bike place and many tour companies. I really liked that hotel and their breakfast buffet was really good.
Just started.. and how you've not asked for a hoover yet and cleaned some of these places before relaxing, I'll never know. I'd be mortified if I worked there and saw that!
I think you lucked out on the other restaurant. The food looked good and it seemed more spacious than the hotel restaurant. Luxury appears to be a really flexible word around the world. I’d rate the room decent with nice skylights. Nothing to write home about. Prime tourist location in season, the rate was probably reasonable for “luxury.” Everything has gone up in price since COVID. The rest of the trip seemed fabulous especially if you like cold weather. ❤ Nice video. Really gave us a sense of the place.
In my current relationship.. there's 6 of us. So, I'm absolutely over the moon that you describe how many people fit in the showers on your travels. It's really helpful indeed😉

@@sharynkhan1104 Whale ,reindeer, moose all tastes terrible, never eat the stuff. Reindeers are terrible animals, the only wild ones in Europe live 60 km from where I am in the south of Norway. All other reindeer are owned by the Sami people, they live up north mostly. Terrible people as well

Quite a few restaurants you’ve missed out on, because they’ve been fully booked. Are you not able to book these when you book the room? Seems such a shame to miss out.
Living in the Scottish Highlands, there would be little reason to go over there. We have mountains, snow resorts (we had decent snow last week), often see the Northern Lights during the winter too. Think if I was going to spend the money I would choose somewhere in the Aviemore area, as there is so much to do; shops, restaurants, outdoor sports, walks, cycling etc, plus such a large amount of accommodation from resorts to Airbnb etc. Hopefully the funicular railway up Cairngorm Mountain will open shortly as that is an amazing experience just for the views alone
I would definitely and happily go to Lapland Tim it looks just so wonderful and magical there. The prices also are not bad at all and that room looked very cosy. Would definitely be nice with my wife/gf. Thanks for sharing Tim 👍
