Your videos contain a lot of helpful information, particularly when we come across exactly the same issues on our 180sx. We’ve done the clutch with great results, the noisy diff was also on the list to repair and this video will certainly go a long way when we get to it. Thank you and keep them coming!
Swapped my Soarer diff to a 2way. Immediate benefits. The obvious difference was on decel, the car seemed to pull itself tighter into the corner, it really shrank a big car by half.
Benny!!!! Don't fight it don't fight it don't fight it Hoody merch is where it is Hoody merch is where it is !!!! Big BCW on the back little cresta doing 8's on the front #senditcoronalife
Thank you for the video and the info !! For a streetcar that is used for fast cornering and some times some drifting what diff should be used ? (Keep in mind that fast cornering is more important than drifting) Thanks in advance !!
Dimitris Makris this is a street / track car so driven normally on the street and then drifted etc at the track , if you wanted something more focussed on drivability maybe the 1.5 way would be better
Thank you for answering! Isn't the 2way lsd going to make the car more prone to slide through the corners instead of actually gripping and going faster ?
Hey Benny, great video series on the 180SX. I own an S15 and I get a clunk from the rear (diff maybe?) whenever I engage a gear from a standstill . Do you think it’s the diff? Cheers
Jacky Ou could be uni joints, worn diff bushes, excessive gear bscklash in the diff , worn cv’s , worn tailshaft centre bearing or possibly something else.
@@BennysCustomWorks I think the sensor you are referring to is the speedo sensor I think. My e30/36 and my e28 all have a big toothed wheel on the diff, and sensor on the cover, and they give the impulsions for the speedo. Which is great because whatever gear ratio you pick, as long as the toothed wheel is the same (and wheel diameter of course) is the same, speedo works. I've swapped a 2.93 to a 3.73 lsd on my 5 series. Works like a charm. It has one speed sensor per wheel for the abs alone though (which are seized solid in the hubs but that's for another time 😁)
If you do buy a 6 bolt shaft diff and have 5 bolt shafts, you can pop the flanges out and swap them over. Back in my r32 days I went through a few diffs and found that out.
@@BennysCustomWorks that makes sense. I was wondering why you didn't talk about the interchangeable stub axles but then again we were never flash enough to buy nizmo stuff.
hello , could you give me the exact measurements of the holes of the wing kouki please, even only from the joint of your to the base of the wing? I would like to mount mine correctly please please please lol
Sealant vs no sealant on the exhaust flanges and does it matter if you're using gaskets if using sealant? I've always tried to use the cheap 2 bolt/3 bolt gaskets dry and find they obviously leak over time, especially for front pipe and cat flanges...
That's better for ABS. My S10 Chevy has the sensors at the wheels on the front. It would have been much better to put them on the output side of the front diff. All the wire flexing, mud, road salt, etc. eats them up.
Name Disclosed honestly now it’s not a time sensitive ‘day job’ I enjoy them all . The Cresta for the most part is the easiest to work on but it still has some quirks.
Benny's Custom Works hehe nice, Cresta is my fav out of your line up as well. Was thinking the fun time u were gona have filling that 180 diff.. nek minute it’s filled and in 😎. That’s just common sense bro. Love it.
I know you can change the axle stubs into the diff but I’ve heard that the 5 bolt axles are stronger. Not sure how true it is but doesn’t hurt to change it over
Benny's Custom Works ahhhh right makes sense. I’ve never had the cash to work with the nismo gear I’ve only shimmed r200s and put them in different cars.Cheers 👍
I was waiting for a bare foot pumping up the transmission jack

Oliver Smith thanks for watching
Liked the tune featured in this week’s episode during the montages.
Good stuff, Benny. I'm not on the tools, so appreciate the insight you offer. Shall indeed see you next time.
WasabiCars thanks for watching mate :D
Love that intro music so much
"Sorry to headphone people..." Speakers here and my head instantly shrunk into my neck..... Gahhhhhrrrggghhhh
big upgrades approaching
I know from years and years of Gran Turismo and Forza that the 1.5 way diff is the way to go for racing.
sirgallium we all learnt from Gran tourismo

Daniel O'Connell that’s a great idea.
Thanks for all your handy tips, great advice and awesome video Benny, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
living the dream thank you for watching :D
Nice and informative vid Benny.....can you possibly do a video explaining how to do a hicas delete on a 180sx?
Bahama boy unfortunately this and the stagea have both had deletes so it’s a bit hard to do a whole vid just explaining it.
1:53-2:00 pump it, pump it
Did I select the wrong video? I almost thought it was a C+C Music Factory video...
Samsonian either or :D
more 180 episodes mate!!!
bartekone we’re trying :D
My E36 has the same system for the abs, with the single speed sensor in the diff
Only the models with ASC got individual wheel speed sensors lol

How good are those nulon squeeze packs, I don't know why nobody thought of them sooner

What diff oil did you use benny? Keep up the great content👍hello from Ireland✌
Marc Sheehy LSD 85-140
My W201 2.6 Mercedes has the rear abs sensor on the diff also, there is a tiny toothed wheel stacked between shims on the pinion.
Frozen Pete yeH I think BMW use a similar setup also

Watching this as I'm getting ready to put a Subaru diff in my Nissan (Well 72 Datsun to be exact)

Nathan Single normally yes but Nismo LSD Used different stub shafts

What axle shafts did you use w the new diff? Looking to get spares for my 180sx
I thought that Tay Tay had like 7 diffs in it's life. Drift car life.
I think Tay Tay went through 5 in the two periods MCM had her
From memory 2 or three were no good upon install
True, just being a troll and MCM fan
What would make someone leave this video a thumbs down?
the great gradz bots

Lee Mackie i prefer sealant + no gaskets or steel type gaskets and no sealant.
Isn't anti sneeze great till you wash your hands lol
gavin hirt man it’s bad
The muffler/tip being off-center is really annoying me.
Roland Augustus Garros will be fixed one day :D
I got my car back from the shop and it’s the same ☹️. Does my head in too
Mine was so far off centre after I'd been replacing bits of the exhaust that it actually melted a nice new gap for it ;)

So Gian brought Tay Tay.... how interesting.
Would you do a b16 swap to a ek hatch on the show by any chance? 😏 also since when did tay tay get sold?
What car do you enjoy working on the most and which the least? In terms of ease and simplicity etc?

Lockdown 2020 👍
Keep spinning spanners :D
Would you ever shim the old diff? Cheers
green76ra23 yeah will keep it as a spare
could i ask which 5x1 drive shafts you put in? are they stronger than the 3x2?
I think they’re R32 GTST shafts tbh. Not sure if they’re stronger but we couldn’t retain the 6x2
I know you can change the axle stubs into the diff but I’ve heard that the 5 bolt axles are stronger. Not sure how true it is but doesn’t hurt to change it over

Dirty Dingus you need the nismo lsd specific stubs though , the VLSD ones don’t swap over .

I've had a look but can't seem to figure out what those wheels are?? Benny or anyone able to help out? Cheers

I think he's done that once before...
Tim Hooper had a few attempts :D
I thought that moog said that he was going to keep the 180
that boot spoiler is not wide enough for the 180 haha
Josh Van der Meer it’s the one Nissan put on there :(
@@BennysCustomWorks how did that leave the design studio with that haha
$49 plus tax on that anti seize?! damn :( which model of loctite is it?
andy198712 $49 AUD, about £25
Benny's Custom Works that’s actually cheaper then I’ve seen it for in the U.K.! Which part number is it?
andy198712 not 100% sorrt
Benny's Custom Works no worries, I’m sure there all pretty good. Thanks for knocking out the great videos! Love it!
