    I think Ive only seen 2 African Americans on the 6 seasons and 2 movies.

      To be fair, it's set in rural England in the early 20th century with an upper class family (not the most inclusive people). Where are you going to get the African-(key word) Americans from? lol Watch "The Gilded Age" instead

      @@kiroolioneaver8532 I know what era and where it takes place. Do you? There was many servants of African American background during this time period, especially with a high class society. And yet the only 2 that made it in the show were both singers. Give me a break.

      @@wisdomveritas6281 First off, I'm not disputing the presence of black people in Britain during this time period but black Americans in the UK in a rural county in the early 20th century? If the series was set in London or Manchester and you wanted to have a few black domestics from England or the Caribbean sure. Plus, there is also the issue that Downton (the show) is virtually a minstrel show. If the downstairs characters were black, it would make this much more clear (for instance, the way Mr. Carson worships at the feet of his employers). That's why when the writer did "The Gilded Age" set in New York, he had the black female character be a journalist instead of a domestic. It's a tired trope to put black people in subservient roles to rich white folks.

    Love Downtown Abby!!! 👏🏽🤍🇬🇧 One of the greatest comfort shows for me.
