That is one of Tipton's most insane solo's and Ritchie definitely did it justice, just look at how hard he's having to concentrate during that minute long face melter!
It's weirdly refreshing to see Richie that focused. He's usually so comfortable, smilling and goofing around, playing effortlessly but here he needs to be in it 100% in order to nail all the shredding (and he succeeds!)
@@tyronedonut8336 tbf he absolutely smashes it but the guitar tone and palm muting aren't a touch on the 91 live performances from Tipton literally went straight back and listening to it cos I felt your comment was a bit harsh but it reminded me how impressed I was Tipton could recreate the album sound live, truly phenomenal metal album, song and guitarist
Rob’s voice hasn’t changed much at all. It’s aged like a fine wine too. It’s amazing, there isn’t another man with his vocal prowess, and no one his age even comes close to sounding this good.
@@Duevel The thing with that tour, besides Halford wanting to go out, they often left "Painkiller" to be almost the last song, for which Rob was already "tired" of singing all the songs before that one, hence why we never, i think, got an "amazing" performance for that song on that era, on vocals at least.. Nowadays Rob goes for a more "growly" voice instead of hight pitch and it fits the song better (to be played live anyway). But there are some pretty damn amazing live versions of Metal Meltdown, Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Just another classic and killer track from Painkiller. It still amazes me to this day how little recognition that Tipton/Downing get for being monster players. Everybody always praises Eddie, Randy, Satriani and Vai, Lynch, Yngwie just to mention a few. I completely agree that those guys deserve all the credit that is bestowed upon them, but it would be nice to see that praise given to Glenn and KK (also Richie and Andy for covering) once and while. IMO it was Tipton/Downing that set the standard for two lead players in the metal genre, and when it comes to the "best" lists it usually is a popularity contest, especially if your talking about guitar tandems. I dont see very many TH-cam guitarists breakdown any solo's from Murray/Smith (though they both deserve it) like you do for the solo's in Painkiller alone. Just a thought to ponder and we need to spread the love and give full recognition for what Downing and Tipton have done for this genre of music.
When I go on a night of Leadfooting (binge drinking) and decide to just step my foot on the accelerator and not let up until I am absolutely smashed on booze, I like to call it All Guns Boozing!

First of all i want to say that judas priest IS my favourite band. But lets face it fanboys.Rob could never sing any of the painkiller's album songs.Especially Painkiller it self.He sang it horrible even back in the 90s
Can someone please convince me that Rob is human again. No way he should be able to sing that high at 70 years old
I love how he can sound that good that high this day in age

This man can play and has beautiful vibrato. Halford god.
I almost had it
OMG he sound exactly the same he did back in 1990. How can be possible?
today he sounds better than on the painkiller tour

Ahah come on, he’s not sounding like in 1990, be honest to yourself 😂. But he is still incredibile considering his age
@@MirkoS1995 Well during their 90 Tour Rob sounded worse its true
Tibor Õsz That ain’t from Painkiller Tour, Irvine gig was part of Operation R&R.
His voice hasn't deteriorated a bit..amazing
God DAAAAYUUUMMM! Ritchie nailed that solo!
Very pleased to see Andy Sneap taking the final solo in the song. I always felt K.K. should have played it on the album version.
Imagine being this close of the Metal God... omg

Metal God….unbelievable
This is from the pinnacle metal album of all time! Ritchie is a monster, not anyone can play Glenn's solo.
Right, this solo is horrible hard to play and he did it very accurate ! Very nice
I don't think even KK can play it!
it's very far from original, sweeps are nowhere near,KK would do it best

The old giant still got it
A esa edad y cantando tan bien el maestro Halford, el dios de metal por siempre.

Bent on survival
Full throttle hammers down
A deadly scream

Forced into overdrive
Drawn out of anger
All talons poison dipped
Impaling spike
Heart pounding fever pitch
Blood pumping fury
Two fisted dynamo
Eager to strike

Blade of destruction
Flame throwing hurricane

Bone crushing alien
God of salvation
Sad wings that heaven sent
Wipes out in rage
