    Pretty wild offering the original Kelly with the cuts... very few of those were ever made, those cuts were a major pain and were quickly dropped. I guarantee this will only be a limited production run.

    I’m not sure if I get that Jackson JS20, an Ibanez Gio or a Harley Benton R-446. Any thoughts?

    Have you had any issues with the Floyd Rose Specials quality on the newer Jacksons. I have on all of mine. (I have 13 Jacksons I reckon 6 have specials). The B strings slip and if you really tighten them them the saddle and screw loose the thread. I have had to swap out all the saddles on the bridges with FR Specials.

    Something in my 36 Yr old soul prohibits me from buying a Chinese guitar over 1K. Up to about 600 I'd consider it but at these prices they have to be decked out. Everything. Premo hardware, woods, finish etc then I might be convinced. These vids are great you're showing your feelings whilst being objective.

    Hey @Jake Leigh Guitar! Just got a MIJ Jackson Rhoads Tuxedo black with silver appointments. Swapped in a Dimarzio X2n and D activator in the neck love it! BUT can't help thinking maybe a warrior/kelly is the way to go sitting down for "extreme" shapes? Not sure do you have any feedback on the most comfortable V shape...Also I have not played an explorer X type in years so maybe that. Great walk through of these lineups! I subscribed!

    i think the AT headstock doesnt belong on a RR, but on the king V i think its really works well, regarding the JS22-7s, and will be buying a KingV 22-7, but if my budget would ever allow it id buy a RRX24-7 or what ever the code is

    Soloist and the dinky are the same shape but the dinky is a bolt on and the soloist is neck through also I believe the neck profiles are different but depends on the model

    All the metal guitar makers: Jackson, Ibanez, Schecter, ESP, need to give options on what kind of headstock and tuners you get. There are so many times where I have to pass on a guitar because I dont like the type of headstock or tuners. And it would be more efficient and economical for the manufacturer to do last minute assembly assembly as they need to produce less guitars for more options. I also dont like trem choices made, they seem to force Floyd Rose or hardtail and not enough regular trems, but unfortunately the trem type is built into the shape of the guitar so they cant switch that out. Fender has come out with an online 'mod shop' where you can get the exact specs of a guitar you want, like the exact color. Id like to see more guitar makers do that.
    As for the green Dinky you picked, Im really surprised that is a real maple veneer because it looks like a fake painted on quilted maple.

    Jackson used to be my favorite brand before Fender bought them, since not so much.

      2000s jacksons were the best and owned by fender, i am talking mij tho, i have never had a usa made

      I.had 2006 usa rr1 black with gold pinstripes was 2100 bucks, base colors were 1800 bucks, +300 bucks for the pinstripes. Real mother of pearl inlays and a real original floyd rose.. its the one that got away, it would play if you just breathed on the strings. Sadly i bumped the upper wing and took a pretty big chunk off it literally week after i got it. Just payed 2 grand for it, which was way more than i had to spend on it and I was devistated. I baby all my guitars. I got so scared to play it.. it sat its case for a year and a half, and i sold it for like 1200 bucks becase of the badly damaged wing. Looking back i still shoulda kept it lol

  • @wilkinsi
    @wilkinsi 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I hate that AT (AKA the 3+3 or 3+4) headstock too. As for the Concept Series, they should all have Original Floyd Rose tremolo's, not FR1000. The King Kelly deserves a gloss finish over tacky satin black.

  • @fuzzymuppet1990

    There x series line is getting way too expensive.. and Ive heard a ton of complaints about jacksons shoddy quality control for a long while, theres even ton of QC complaints on thier MJ series too. Who wants to spend $850 on a guitar (x-series) and you have to change the pickups and bridge out, and dye those ugly ass laurel fretboards . Im not a hater, quite the opposite , just very dissapointed and a little passionate about it is all lol. Its crazy cuz from what i gather charvel and evh quality is good, but fender especially the new player series and most jacksons are pretty rough. Im ranting again 😅

    • @BlackHawk2029
      @BlackHawk2029 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Real weird. I've heard a lot about issues with the x series and up, but the JS lines are killer for the money. My JS32 Dinky is honestly one of the best feeling guitars I've ever played, and the Floyd on it has been great. I'm sure the trem will wear out eventually being a cheap one, but it's the best cheap Floyd I've ever seen. And since I only paid $299 for the guitar, $150 for a Gotoh 1996 won't hurt too bad if the time comes to swap it.

    • @fuzzymuppet1990
      @fuzzymuppet1990 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BlackHawk2029 ive heard the js series are awesome for the money, too! Ive got a squire classic vibe tele that i put a dimarzio super distortion, single coil sized, in the bridge.. and it easily feels and plays just as nice as any of my higher end guitars ! The tuners got a little play, but the tuning is rock solid, and the 3-way switch feels cheap but still works flawlessly. And also doesnt have that plasticy dead feel that a lot of cheap guitars have. Oh and shout out to the 1996t, best bridge ever! 140 bucks compared to 350 bucks and just as good!

    • @fuzzymuppet1990
      @fuzzymuppet1990 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BlackHawk2029 ive been searching around for a 2016 sl3x in neon pink , and putting in a 1996t and replace all hardware on it, thats my main thing im looking to do right meow

    • @BlackHawk2029
      @BlackHawk2029 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fuzzymuppet1990 I don't like the solid color finish JS models. They have that plasticy feel. Got mine in the natural oil finish, and it is absolutely wonderful. And yeah, the 1996t is a FANTASTIC piece of kit.

    • @fuzzymuppet1990
      @fuzzymuppet1990 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BlackHawk2029 that dead plastic feel... uggg... I've felt it on plenty of high-end guitars, too! , granted, not all of em.. i remember trying 2 black strats back to back one time, same make and model . They both played basically the same, but one was dead, and the other was louder (acoustically) and way livelier. that is one of the most important things about a guitar, to me, and is something that is totally lost when buying before you try , with buying online, and hope you get lucky. The few guitar shops that are near me are super small, maybe 30 guitars total, including acoustics and basses, so im forced to buy online. Damn im still ranting 😆 🤣 😂

    Think this is why brands like solar and harley benton are taking over the £200-£500 and £1000-1500 price range, anything the big brands offer for the same money is vastly inferior.

      @JakeLeighGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm a little disappointed in the new concept series models. Their whole selling point was "custom shop appointments at production prices" but they've downgraded the hardware compared to the ones that they first released.
    The soloist is pretty much the same as the sl27 wildcard soloist from a few years ago but it's more expensive, the hardware isn't as good, it's got a cheaper finish, but it's more expensive.
    I also must be the only person that hates a reverse headstock on a rhoads because they put them on almost every single model.
    I do really like the camo x series soloists in "not george lynch" camo. They did one in the kamikaze color camo, then esp showed the new desert eagle lynch model so they release another one in the desert eagle camo. It's cheeky and I love it.
    In general I'm disappointed in the pro series and concept series models but the x series is really where I think jackson is doing their coolest stuff. Given how egregious the price increases have become from brands that were once budget minded the x series is like the last decent option for a mid level guitar.

    Lefties always miss out.
    Not one from what I saw. So many great looks and can’t buy any of them.
    Love Jackson guitars but have only one and of course it’s black. They never give you much variety.

    • @JakeLeighGuitar
      @JakeLeighGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I agree, us right handed players don't realise how lucky we are! I think Schecter usually do a great job providing left handed guitars.

    In a world where you can get Japanese Guitars with all brand name hardware. Jackson's guitars are vastly over priced.

    Bro. Dinky and soloist are the same shape. All dinky models are bolt on necks and all soloists are neck-thru. Just so you know.

    • @JakeLeighGuitar
      @JakeLeighGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah sorry, I meant the size difference, the dinky is 7/8ths the size of the soloist. Technically still the same shape, you are right!
