    Just got my 2013 nc700xd (Automatic) with 555 miles for $3,200 just because the guy dropped it… of course the handle bars are bent a little and some of the plastic is scratched, but still a good deal!!! :D

      I'm 5'4 and I'm thinking of getting the same bike. the dct version is it comfortable?

    • @Because1its1true
      @Because1its1true 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah its really comfortable, but I'm 5'9 so i don't know how it would be for you, also i had a problem with its height and weight so it was pretty hard for me to manage at first so i would recommend a lowering kit or something.
      btw, the DCT is amazing.

    I went from Yamaha MT-09 to a 2012 NC700X when I turned 50, just thought "while I'm still alive". The NC feels like my forever bike after three summers now.

    Very similar scenario for me 7yrs later. Sold my Concours14 3yrs ago and bought a 3rd gen Miata as the fun vehicle. With the climbing stupid gas prices I figured why not get the NC700X as a fuel economy option before summer hits and potential record high gas prices. Bought a 2012 and glad I get some serious MPG now. The frunk lock might need to be replaced as the original owner snapped a key. I just had 3 more keys cut but find myself having to hassle with the key and worry I will break one myself. Think I’ll use the cheap plain metal spare as my gas/frunk key and leave the oem key for ignition. Got 62mpg on the way home of 55miles.

    That is a great choice of bikes, I have the same bike, mines silver but the red looks great. Lets face it, this bike is more car like, but is still a great bike, I ride mine like a car 90% of the time anyway, I have had as high as 83mpg out in my rural area. I sold a Vstrom1000, to get mine, you want to carry a little extra, it is nice with the Motech Blaze Panniers, they go on and come off in seconds, and when they are off you would never know there was panniers that go on the bike, and they go on and come off so fast.
    I also pulled off the Oem shield and installed a Madstad windshield system, it is a positive pressure shield and adjusts for tilt and height, and gets rid of wind noise and buffeting, and smoothes the air out so much that it becomes a much more quiet ride

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will have to check out the windshield thanks. As far as the panniers I did not put any on to keep the bike as narrow as possible lots of traffic here. Thanks Gary and keep the wheels turnin :)

  • @1222dan
    @1222dan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am considering this bike for adventure riding. I know the wheels are the "wrong" size but with all terrain tires some luggage combined with the low seat height and incredibly low center of gravity I think it will do well for 80%road 20% dirt. Plus great torque and mpg. My question is: the lack of HP and short rpm range does it make it too slow to escape shitty drivers or highway type maneuvers? BMW seems to reign as king of adventure bikes but $$$ and maintenance is a waste. Am I out if my mind? Thoughts...

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1222dan People do some adventure riding with the NC but some upgrades such underbelly protection and radiator guard would be recommended. The NC700 forum has a lot of info on modifications. When riding the Nc700 you need to be aware of the RPM's you dont want to be close to the rev limit and need to maneuver only to the have limiter shut the rpm's down and not give you the getup and go you need.

    I currently ride a 150 scooter and want to buy a real motorcycle and am very interested in the automatic version of this, would you recommend it as a first?

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curtis Sleme Yes and No. If you truly like to ride then I would learn to use a clutch BUT not having to could help you focus on riding as a beginner and then later learn the clutch. Its a great bike all around and a AWESOME bike for a beginner DCT or Manual.

    • @CJSleme
      @CJSleme 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MotoZombie I know it is best to start with a 250 and I wanted to until I saw this one, I am very comfortable with my 150 scooter so that might be an advantage. I just can't see myself enjoying a clutch because I love the simplicity of the scooter but I want to be safer with bigger wheels and be able to travel distance and highway.

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curtis Sleme Go with the auto then. It will not make a difference on the highway as far as safety the bike performs for the most part the same auto or manual. I would think there will be a bit more wind on the honda NC but i'm not sure.

    Moved from the ~400cc license to an unlimited one learning on one of those NC750S manuals (I know yours is 700).
    Nice easy ride I thought and true enough good in traffic.
    In the end I was pulled to the Suzuki 650 V-strom for the more sure-footed feeling but now I want to buy an Integra version of the NC750, too.
    Great on fuel you said?
    The 'strom gives me about 60-65 miles to a US gallon (25k/litre) but I reckon the Integra 750 would beat that hands down.
    Great video thanks.

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also like the V-strom ( triumph explorer also) but this decision was completely economical. MPG's, Service intervals,Ease of service and Overall cost/style made it a no brainer for me.

    • @motozombie5060

      Sorry for the late response. Seat height is good . Knees are bent but not uncomfortable. BUT I would say its the smallest bike i would ever consider having though.

    I'm seriously looking into a BMW K1200RS. I know you had the LT. I dont really know what the difference is on the two bikes. But, do you have any regrets switching bikes. For the record I'm planning a cross country trip.7,000 miles from SC to CA and back.
    I am looking for fuel efficiency and low cost maintenance. Any thoughts would be great.
    Regards. Ride Safe!

      Anything cross country I would go for the bigger bike. I had a nc700x and rode 4 hours to visit my aunt during the summer and a good cruising speed on it was about 70 to 75. Anything above that seemed like it was pushing the bike over the comfort zone. Factor in wind direction and speed and it could drop your speed lower, also saddlebags would worsen the problem. I love the bike but it seems more comfortable in town or back roads, long highway miles not it's strong point. I now have a 2012 honda vfr1200 and that's my highway bike. I still love the comfort and mileage on the nc700x it's unbeatable. If you choose to get the nc700x for long rides I highly recommend you get a tall windscreen and a very good road tire like Michelin pilot roads. The height of the bike gives alot of resistance and so on my 4 hour trip my factory Bridgestone tires had rubber strip melting off of them, I noticed my tires falling apart when I stopped for gas. It was my first trip and I was pushing 80mph most of the time.

      @PVo-1111 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've also taken a 9 hour trip on it with a couple of cruisers and rode really slow with no problems on that same tire. That's why I'm thinking speed was a factor in my tire issue.

      My cb500 does just fine on long road trips. I don't know how low you want your rpms when you are doing 70 but on my cb they are fine for me. I had a ducati 1100 evo and i could do 3k rpm at 70 in 4th gear. My cb is about 4k at 70mph in 6th gear, so a 700 should be enough. And to add something funny, my 300 ninja was about 8k at 70 in 6th.

      Komoto,
      I looking for low RPM at 80 mph on the interstates. Even though I will be mostly taking back roads most of the way. The lower the rpm's the better fuel consumption and less fatigue I'll experience. At least that's what I was told. I think the big bike have less rpm's then the sport bikes do. Nonetheless, thanks for the response.

      @motozombie5060  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The NC is a great bike but at 80 your rpms will be 4-5k not TOO bad but not much left. I find the problem on lager rids at that speed the wind really beats me up. One thing about this bike is there is not much protection for larger/taller riders. I'm 6'4" 240 ish and long highway rides get a bit old after the first hour or so. I think 65mph is the sweet spot for this bike wind is manageable,RPM's are low and at great MPG's

    I've been leaning towards a CB300F or CBR300R, but one of these with a DCT might not be so bad for a first-timer.

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GT6SuzukaTimeTrials I never tried out the DCT but some of the higher in sport bikes use them so they must be durable. Mine is a manual clutch but its easy to ride.

    • @motozombie5060
      @motozombie5060  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not much at all. I plan on doing most myself. This is not a normal motorcycle engine more of a car engine really. Needs service less then half of a normal motorcycle. Cost to own should be very low. Hope that helped some. I will feature any service and associated costs in my Vlogs. Thanks for the comment and ride safe.

      I have 10,000 on my NC700x and it's a great first bike as long as you don't want to race Ninjas or do wheelies.

      No. If you look at the left grip you will see the clutch lever. On a auto or DCT model this would be missing and replaced with little paddle shifters.
