    It's a motorcycle. The clutch is not a prerequisite for being a motorcycle.
    Actual definition
    "mo·tor·cy·cle
    ˈmōdərˌsīk(ə)l/Submit
    noun
    a two-wheeled vehicle that is powered by a motor and has no pedals."
    Anyone who claims its not a motorcycle, is just a child. Move on, and don't act impressed. I have a 1200 africa dct, and I beat every "real" motorcycle I race. guess what? Who laughs then? well that's me. I drive by them and say "nice scooter!!! hhaaaaaaaahahahaa"
    But only if they insult my bike first. I will smoke you even in auto mode anyday kids :)

    To all you slagging of the DCT let me ask you this, how many of you drive manual (stick-shift) cars? Because automatic cars aren't real cars, are they? The DCT is aimed at a specific market, commuter's, but it is also a god send for other people, people who for whatever reason have difficulty using a clutch. I'm 47 and have been riding bikes for years but have always struggled due to a disability with my left hand but now biking is great thanks to the DCT.

    I might suggest a little research on a bike before riding it..
    There is a manual/automatic mode switch. Right index finger. Like a flash to pass button. That will hold any gear and bibg off the limiter if you want..
    It will shift back to 1 when you stop.
    Also.. if you hold S mode button there are 3 levels of sport.. shifting more aggressively as you go up.
    Best way to launch one of these is just roll on the throttle.
    Also.. they make an X model for dual sport adventure riding. You can definitely off road one of these with decent tires.. low center of gravity.
    Also.. 70+MPG on the highway.
    Pretty nice overall package..
    Wish it looked a bit sexier..
    It is nice that it's a 270 degree parallel twin. It actually sounds decent compared to most twins..
    I think the CB 500 is also.
    Also wish they offered the DCT in the CB 500.

      I applaud this level of thinking. I'm drawn to this bike mainly due to it's auto trans, but also the reliability of a Honda, its styling, etc. It would be my first ever bike, and I believe id simply feel more comfortable starting with something like this.
      Good driving comes from experience, not whether it has another lever or stick.
      In addition, something like 9/10 people don't know how to use manual cars in the States. My generation doesn't have the experience with it, and automakers don't have a problem phasing it out.

  • @jimcrossland9896
    @jimcrossland9896 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Well if we look at F1 motor racing cars you see an automatic beast. They use paddle shifters and essentially the car is auto because the shifting is faster. You could wheelie this bike if you use the manual option. Personally I like shifting gears myself but sometimes it gets tiresome. An auto or semi auto bike makes a lot of sense to me.

    Manuals are going to die. Automatics are the future, they get better and better every year. When I was a kid we had a 4 wheeler and a mini bike, I would always choose the mini bike cause I hated shifting. Manuals in city driving and in traffic are a pain in the ass. I had manual cars most of my life, I'll never go back.

    • @fohz0710

      I don't think manual is ever gonna die there is still a big market for it, it just the market for autos are gonna grow a lot more than manuals, am take motorcycle wise because it already happened for cars but there is still manufacturers making manuals

    • @JoeBlow-24
      @JoeBlow-24 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fohz0710 Automatic bikes are a quickly growing segment in the bike world. 5 years ago, when I made this comment, there were a lot less automatic bikes than there are today, most scooters are already auto, every electric car is automatic, nearly all super cars are automatic, quad bikes are mostly automatic outside some performance models, side by sides are automatic. It grows more and more each year. Manual will never die because of vintage car culture, but it's on life aupport.

  • @franksatchel7719
    @franksatchel7719 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

    Many people look at this as a beginner's bike, but if you look at the whole package of transmission (with three modes), engine configuration and tuning (low center of gravity coupled with wide torque spread and low redline), you end up with something that makes a lot of sense for some experienced and/or returning riders with physical limitations.
    These are full size bikes which can easily be balanced with one foot down, lessen joint and muscle pain by removing the need to shift manually, a boon for people with neuropathy caused either by injury or disease. They are extremely economical and practical with the storage placed where the tank is expected to be. Really, this and the CTX with DCT are not simply allowing some folks to continue riding, they are test beds for larger touring models.
    I think you're doing yourself a bit of a disservice by not researching models you review, it detracts from the review's usefulness.

      @@Srkcycles I own a manual NC700X. It's not the best at any one thing out there, but it isn't bad at anything either. As far as the total package, I don't think you can beat it. I test rode a ctx700 DCT the other day. It's basically the cruiser version of the NC. It was phenomenal. Everybody says that they want more people riding motorcycles. Honda will give you that with the DCT, but all of a sudden the excuses come out. "It's not a real motorcycle" "It's great...if you're a girl" "Real riders know how to use a clutch" I could go on. The DCT movement will put more people on two wheels. That's good for everyone. More riders=more people looking out for riders. More riders=more sales. Harley ran into similar criticism with the Street series. I can't drop $27K on a new Ultra, but I could find $7K for a Street. Any attempt to recruit new riders, even cavemen, gets pooed on by the same people who claim that they want more folks riding. Oh well, it's no skin off my back. If I cared what people thought of what I rode, I'd be on a Street Glide or a Gixxer like everyone else. Anyway, I love the channel. Keep the videos and the words of wisdom coming. I know from watching your inventory that you've moved more than on NC. Maybe there's something to this little bike after all.

And that's because i want to relax, not work, i want to be me who's enjoying the bike, not bike enjoying me, with a manual vehicle i just feel i'm being used. For example as cars in my family, my wife's driving a 2015 M135i xdrive and a have an FK2. Althought on a Civic Type R FK2 you can find one of the best stick shifts ever (in my humble opinion), when i'm driving my wife's car is like a dream, i consider the famous ZF 8HP, being one of the best gearboxes ever built. Before buying this car, all of l my friends said i was gonna hate it being the first automatic (in Europe we have mostly stick shifts), but man, whoever drives an automatic on this continent, doesn't want manual anymore. The only regret on my bike is that it doesn't have cruise control.

And they say they can ship anywhere in the world if I read that right , and when you call them and you name any state that starts with the letter C and they will burst your bubble when they can't deliver or accommodate you or they are out of stock. Why do you not restock something that sales real well? So if you cannot deliver everywhere to whom it may concern you need to ditch the video ad because it is worthless.

    I think that most people who complain about the nc700xDCT just don't understand the bike. It's not a squid bike. If someone buys the wrong bike don't blame the bike.

      You sure you want Honda to give them a wheelie button on top of the automatic? All they have to do is press a button and pull mile-long wheelie down the interstate.

    I absolutely do not think this is a beginner's bike. Sooner or later they may want to change over to manual gears shifting - they'd have a far harder time making the switch, than learning to ride a bike the right way. This bike, aside from useful for people with a degree of disability, is simply very useful for city riding and commuting, also taking into consideration the awesome space for groceries !

    Words of Wisdom - Understand the features and benefits of a motorcycle before making a video introducing it to potential customers.
    Just getting on a motorcycle without knowing anything about it makes you look ignorant and foolish. Making fun of DCT and feminism is stupid, too. Such a shame to be unable to present features and benefits of a great motorcycle. The additional storage features, which you don’t even mention, make it a great bike for daily utilitarian use. Leave the car at home and have great transportation at a fraction of the cost of a car. It’s not meant for wheelies and 100 mph. If one obeys traffic laws it is great. In Europe where people value education and recognize true value in features, at least 50% of models available with a DCT are sold with it instead of the manual one.

    I had the manual version. I bought it new in 2012. Loved it but it was lacking power. If it made about 80hp it would have been last bike. Loved everything else about it.
